havent' listened but I know it's gonna be shite. what happened to hitunes
It's decent but it's no Barter 6
Only B6 is ever gonna be B6 though lets be honest
I didn't much care for it but it was tolerable for a single listen
It’s pretty damn good. Which says a lot about Thug’s ability to carry an album since J Cole is a talentless hack who would have completely ruined any other rapper’s album as executive producer. I hope J Cole is never allowed anywhere near Jeffery again.
best stuff since beautiful thugger girls
I'm pretty torn on that album, its good when the mood is right but the whole album is pretty one note
i really like that one note though
Its literally just sex: the album lol
So I'm a die hard young thug fan, have been since the barter 6 slime season days and have rode hard for thugga's brand of uncompromising vision for his music. His brand of mumble crooning over very moody and sometimes horror tinged beats is what drew me to thug. The way he can contort his voice and manipulate his flow and cadence within the tempo is mind bending and extraordinary considering how natural thug's delivery is. I was ecstatic that Thug announced he was going to explore new sounds following his Jeffery Album (a good but not GREAT addition to his discography). I thought Beautiful Thugger Girls was a strong 8 with a strong emphasis on what Thug wanted to achieve with that album all while keeping it varied and fresh with each song. However following thugger girls I noticed a change in Thugs music making, and not for the better. Instead of the crooning and mumbling that we are used to on thug records he's almost regressed stylistically. The way he rapped used to be so unique and now he's adopted the most bland flow in his arsenal for almost 80% of his new releases. Given this latest project it suffers the most of recent releases from bloat.
Just How It Is is just barely above par when it comes to average trap songs. Sup Mate is an abomination and it's unbelievable that the song made it on the album let alone saw the light of day. Ecstasy is unremarkable and forgettable, highlighting Thug's lack of lyrical talent and highlighting how uninteresting he can be by using a more uniform flow. I can't tell if Hot is a gunna song or not, it's a 50/50 split between him and Thug on the song and both are severally underwhelming. Light Up is now the 5th track in and again, we are faced with the same uninspired we got from the previous 4 songs at this point I've become the most fatigued I've ever become from a Thug project.
i agree that he's regressed, but there are a few songs on here that are highlights of his discography
I was a fan after 1017 Thug and while I haven't loved all of his latest records its hard to imagine it being worse than I'm Up
I'm Up is good; Jeffery should be his rightfully maligned project
No way, he was doing very interesting things with his vocal infections on Jeffery and there were some super sticky beats too. I'm Up is really by the numbers in comparison, weak songwriting as well
Hy!£UN35 ;____;
hercules is miles ahead of anything on jeffery
Next up is Surf, I feel this marks the actual beginning of the album and all previous tracks could have been scrapped and nothing of value would have been lost. Thugs flow isn't anything overly impressive but atleast the beat and hook are fun and memorable, first song that is solidly above average on the album. Bad Bad Bad is the first time so far on the album we get a SOMEWHAT unique Thug flow, still not extraordinary but at least he is doing something different enough that I was able to differentiate it among the other songs so far, another actually good song. Here I am confused as to why Lil baby was featured on the previous song but not the song actually titled "Lil Baby", another unremarkable track that totally destroys the momentum the previous 2 songs had been building up until this point. What's the Move is just barely above average probably because of Uzi hype but fits the theme and underlying aesthetic of the album. I have no idea how Thug could get shown up by Duke of all people on I Bought Her, for fuck sake Duke sounds more like Thug than Thug on this song. Jumped Out the Window had so much potential to be a really stand out song but Thug just didn't do much with that hard as fuck beat. Thug could have really made the banger had HE FUCKING ADAPTED HIS FLOW TO THE FUCKING BEAT BUT NOW WE'VE GOT THE SAME FLOW FROM THE PAST 10 FUCKING SONGS. I'm Scared, 21 was good, thug and nobody were mediocre. Finally an actually good song, and why? Because Thug uses a different flow and actually uses different inflections. Big Tipper is barely interesting if it weren't for the punchy beat, the harmonization between him and Keed and a decent feature from Keed. Pussy, strong contender for worst song on the album with Sup Mate. Circle of bosses, just average on all fronts here.
I'm afraid I must terminate this conversation now.
Mannequin Challenge, now here we have a huge missed opportunity I really feel like Thug could have rode this beat with a totally different flow and made a top 10 song of his career but he just continues to drop the ball with this boring as fuck flow I'm about to go fucking insane. Especially with the feature from Juice WRLD it could have easily been on billboard top 25. NAV must be some sort of super plug or business guru to keep getting these high as fuck profile features, why do people continue to have him jump on songs when he is universally ridiculed?
And finally, we have "The London" as song for whatever reason has absolutely blown up and most likely Thug is not the one to credit. While Thug does have some actually good lyrics on this song I have no idea why this song got as big as it did, probably mindless drones of fans that both travis and cole have. This song pisses me off to the moon and back because Thug has so many better performances than this and has made such beautiful music by himself which doesn't give him the respect or success that he is due.
To me, this is one of Thugs most bland releases and sits firmly in the middle of his discography with Jeffery and On the Run.
cartier gucci scarf is the song I was referring to after the I'm Scared and before big tipper. For clarification
shut up you white, Pitchfork reading faggot. go gentrify Brooklyn or something. No one cares what you think about hip-hop
>middle of his discography with Jeffery
lol I knew this cracker's opinion was not worth reading.
jeffrey is literally full of classics: wyclef jean, guwop, harambe, webbie, popman, and pick up the phone are all some of his best
just another post-barter6 album
I’m a true Thug Stan
Not like these fakes
Thug has and always will be all hit, no miss. He will never take an L
The point of this album was to expose him to a larger audience and that was obviously accomplished as he sits at #1. You guys act like he completely abandoned his artistic side. Did you fucks forget about Audemar? That song is only a year old. Stop being pretentious pricks. Young thug isn’t a hidden gem.
Be happy he’s getting the attention he deserves
cole fucked it up. beats are ass. few good tracks that's it.
btw "rip prime thug 2015" posters are fags. he's had good tracks in 2016 and 2017 and 2018 and 2019
youtube.com
top 3 thug feature
He produced the entire thing? Who the fuck signed off on that?
cole was the executive producer for the entire album. the news that he would be exex prod came out months ago in like may. thug toured with him recently and cole probably convinced him or something. but everyone knows thug is volatile and makes weird decisions anyway. it was probably spur of the moment. thug isnt supposed to be on shitty boom bap or "chopped up soul" corny shit he's not cole. the overdubbing on some of these tracks is so retarded. thug never does that shit and hes had music out since 2011. so obvious it was coles dusty ass idea
Oh god what the fuck. They are polar opposites in style, I'm scared to hear this frankenstein shit now
i know they are polar opposites in style that's why when they announced thug was opening for/touring with cole last year i said what the fuck?? it was probably 100% for money since cole is huge with tasteless retards for some reason. it was a big paycheck for thug. i hope cole has nothing to do with thug going forward but he probably will sadly. hopefully just a feature or production here and there and not ruining whole albums like this
