there is a point where using semi-precious materials ceases to be classy and becomes so tacky you instantly assume the whole thing is a cheap fake, and this guitar has clearly passed it a long, long, long time ago.
Ian Sanders
I am dosed on uppers and i will now proceed to masturbate for the next 4 hours. You all have a good day. The sun is too bright here i will go into darkness of my room.

Stealth(ier) wealth is the best wealth.
A guitar ought not be the nicest thing you own. It's the mansion it rests in that says something about you. Really, any retard capable of saving money can own the nicest guitar on the planet. Until you get into the land of autographed collectibles they're still cheaper than new economy cars. It should still be nice, but not everyone needs to know just by looking at it, because it doesn't really matter.
>Be totally rich >instead of financing a new honda civic, finance a used one for 1/4 of the price >take advantage of your savings and finance a gibson les paul custom shop >start taking pictures on your leased iphone for /gg/ >about to drop the shitpost of the century and call everyone poor >power and phone service cut out >the credit card you were using to pay the bills is maxed out >have to wait until tomorrow so you can get another one >bank declines >now you're poor >everything gets repossessed including the phone with pictures >suck dick until you can afford new stuff >now you're stuck with a google pixel, a dean "les paul", and a wheelbarrow as your primary means of transportation >scavenge an old amp from a dumpster >a legend is born

Not sure if that's an upgrade. Get rid of that logo/sticker at the very least.
Mason Young
If you want to watch guitar videos pirate some actual guitar instructional videos. It's really easy to get sucked in to a youtube whirlwind of going through a gorilion videos from clickbaity chucklefucks who want to sell you their own "secret to guitar godhood" videos.
Protip: nobody has ever actually liked that color. They only released it so people could play a "white" guitar on monochrome television without saturating the cameras.
Gavin Flores
>sunburst It's even worse than I expected, truly sorry.
Luis Moore
That's a pretty nice strat, my man. How do you find the Lace sensors?
Thomas Perry
I know right, but it has such a killer sound. That's why I still keep it. It's a '93 Strat Plus Deluxe, so it came with them. They don't have traditional strat sound but that's what I really like about them. They sound fatter except the middle one I guess.
Ian Price
nice Strat
Alexander Morales
Different instruments, I would keep J and bought Fender P or P-like bass.
Im starting to get "ok" at guitar, should i start looking at pedals or is it more a crutch sort of thing? I want to jam with my bro whos a semi pro drummer
Julian Cox
Pros >HSS >neck looks darker Cons >70s tumor headstock >maybe there's a weird glossy finish on the neck >you might outgrow the color Pros >all white >normal headstock >satin neck >timeless and classy for all occasions, its a blank canvas that doesn't create any expactations Cons >SSS >neck might be the luck of the draw, looks quite sickly and pale
Brayden Peterson
your drummer have pedals so why you cant have one
Owen Phillips
im not a fan of my PJ's black color but it was cheap and it's a great luthier bass
Dylan Brown
dude, thats deep
Brandon Sanders
> when the GAS hits and you spend over an hour looking at new guitars
sometimes you can find awful tabs but these are okay.
Owen Watson
>SSS >a bad thing Retard.
Gabriel Edwards
I mean tabs+rhythm. Any rests should be also included in the staff. Not notes. Not just numbers. Not double staff with tabs and notes. They are all garbage. Only this way.
Nolan Lewis
I should rig my hosts files to redirect ebay and reverb and gg to this image.
Paul Kossoff, Angus Young, Samuel Campos, that blonde bassist of Jeff Beck. Hand size isn't an issue unless you want to play really crazy stuff. I can do 3 5 7 hammerons on acoustic with my petite hands. It just takes stretching so your fingers go wider.
Asher Bailey
I should have said it just takes practice and your fingers will get stretched
first one sounds like dads practising in the garage. second one had a cool riff going near the start but descended into incoherent noodling. I hope you and others keep posting, hearing people play is the only good part of gg
Mason Roberts
whats with the strat body?
Cooper Edwards
whhat bit did you do
Luke White
It depends on what you consider OK fretwork and then its also hit and miss. You dont get hand rolled edges as far as I know, and you'd be lucky not to get some sharp bits of metal protruding here and there. A good service should take care of it, but depending on where you live that can be a considerable extra cost that you might have wanted to put into a more expensive guitar.
Ethan Diaz
are they the kings of budget guitars? just bought an ultra cheap second hand les paul copy and it kicks ass, much better than epiphone turds that cost several hundreds more
The truss rod seems fine. Anyway I'll take it back to the luthier that replaced the nut and set it up.
Putting shit the under the nut to make it taller, instead of using a taller piece of bone, is bad for the transfer of vibrations to the neck?
What did you say little bitch

>selling a fuzz pedal >guy comes over to demo it >"sorry user, I play left handed, can you demo it for me" >mfw he turns 360 degrees and walks away after I """play""" for him
Can someone send me some tabs for improvisation/noodling so this doesn't happen again?
I was at a wedding a couple weeks ago that had like a ragtag band of m8s playing. They were alright, but one of them was playing a prs and that blew my mind. I think a lot of engineer type guys play prs now.
Some plz rec me a ring mod pedal. Budget is $200 USD
Joseph Jones
I had pic related as my first guitar years ago, but I lost interest in playing because I was a clueless newb and sold it. Now that I'm playing again I kinda miss it, it was very beautiful, versatile and comfy

Why do so many third world favela niggers post in this general? What attracts you "people" (lol) to guitars so much? Why are you always so vulgar and physically dirty?
Christopher Bailey

Does having long fingernails on your right hand help with playing fingerstyle?
Owen Myers
Guitar is a pleb instrument historically
Xavier Butler
Because it’s an inexpensive hobby. Photography is much more expensive
Jonathan Martin
depends what sound you want, biting or smoother if you have longer nails and cut them to be more pointed almost, you can make notes sound very clear like playing with a pick
Cooper Stewart
>Because it’s an inexpensive hobby lmao in my 3rd world country you can't buy even the shittiest squier with a minimal wage
Daniel Wood
I'm not bothered about the sound, I just want to know if having longer nails helps me play better
Elijah Sullivan
I already told you that I don't want to see you post that anymore
Adrian Wood
i find it much easier playing classical guitar of nails but can't have them long so I just use the finger. sounds softer but it's fine
Fair enough. I wanted to learn Recuerdos Alhambra but I don't think it is possible without long fingernails. My stubby fingertips can't pick consistently
Joshua Campbell
*plays river flows in you* Damn...
Alexander Lee
yeah, using only the fingertips often get in the way of getting a specific sound with different dynamics
maybe ask the question instead of just writing a random sentence in the middle of the thread???
Tyler Parker
Depends. Antoine Dufour uses stick-on nails so he doesn’t have to actually grow and maintain them
Josiah Baker
What's the next guitar I should buy /gg/? I have:
>A Squier SSS bullet that sounds like absolute shit, muddy even with no distortion
>An Ibanez Artcore HH semi-hollow that's my main instrument right now, sounds and plays great
>An Alvarez acoustic AFH600CE, also sounds great, love its sound
Thinking of either upgrading to a nicer SSS or getting a solid-body HH
Isaiah Fisher
The plastic casing on this already bends by looking at it the wrong way
Nicholas Morris
no, better have regular cut nails
t. flamenco player
Charles Young
Adjust your trust rod, sounds like there’s not enough neck relief. Maybe try the saddle height if you have saddles
Noah Harris
No I mean my fingertips feel inaccurate because it requires more effort to pick the strings. Long nails seem so much easier to play fingerstyle with
Joseph Harris
That does look cheap af
Ryder Lopez
I don't like the tone with nails
Cooper Long
maybe a telecaster for a nice single pickup sound to move away from the traumatizing experience you had with the squier strat. what would you use the HH guitar for?
Chase Turner
Yes it's easier to play with long nails. You look like a creep but it'll sound clearer and it'll be easier. I'm considering getting those fake plastic nails for the same purpose
Lucas Cooper
it's just a random roland, apparently it's 270 bucks
Juan Lewis
You can't learn to play the piano using that.
Samuel Taylor
>wood looks like wood wow
Bentley Davis
do you mean somewhere in the woods there's floor growing out of trees??
William Robinson
Buy a working capo.
Joshua Reyes
Yeah, it's called wood.
Jacob Foster
Suffices for dumb neosoul instagram pussy. They'll cream themselves when they hear more than six notes at once on those le quirky jazzy chords
Jaxon Sullivan
Didn't say anything about dumb pussy, my man. Piano, violin, brass; all far more expensive to learn than the guitar.
Ian Hall
*classical
Christian Price
Yeah, who cares about that shit when you can make black metal and dungeon synth by yourself with a guitar and the roland go keys?
Jace Edwards
>violin really? a decent guitar, nice amp, a bunch of pedals? sure you can't buy a 19th century violin but you could likely get something fairly OK with less than the money one needs to put on guitar, amps and pedals
Leo Jones
*for fucking retards If you're reading tablature at all it's because you genuinely don't know your fretboard well enough. You can't do realtime musical analysis on tablature, fucking chords aren't visualized. You can't determine voice movement because it isn't visualized, which voice has the melody? You can't transpose because you can't determine the function of chords within a key. You can't make the music open for interpretation either, you've only shown some illiterate slob one way to play something. Only someone completely ignorant and so stupid he gave up on Standard Notation would say such a thing or agree with it.
Jeremiah Ortiz
One of the Fender reissue strats. Something with lacquer and a thick neck.
Asher White
Not on steel string. Steels strings already sound very shrill and bright without adding nails into the equation. Play a classical with nails and flesh for tonal control, for steel string the finger flesh dulls the disgusting tone they produce.
Carson Rivera
why are coil-splitting switches still relatively rare in guitars? do they hate making a guitar that works for everything? is fender bribing everybody else because if that were to be standard, they would go instantly bankrupt?
William Gray
We're demonstrating that guitar is cheap.
Yup, have a read about how much a decent violin costs.
Cameron Hernandez
Split coils still sound pretty compressed and honky to me. HSS all the way.
SSS>HSS Humbucker fans aren't smart enough to figure out how they work and split coils sound like shit anyway.
Jacob Turner
Surf green JM user here. I like the shell pink, but that mint green pickguard just looks so off. A white one would fit better.
Adam Lee
solid body guitar for jazz? inb4 telecaster - I don't like telecasters
Blake Torres
Yeah for sure the white. This is just some random pic I found that had the matching headstock. Do you have an actual surf green one now?
Levi Murphy
There's just too much volume drop when you do coil splits. A partial split is better by using a resistor. PRS uses this method on most of their guitars.
I did it on my guitar that didn't originally have any coil split capabilities.
>inb4 telecaster - I don't like telecasters one day you'll grow up
Nicholas Anderson
No, I have one in olympic white with a mint green pickguard. I regret not getting the one in surf green everyday.
Parker Perez
>decent more like a status symbol
with $1000 you have a decent violin and after that you are in the law of increasing returns territory where you pay for unnoticeable changes in tone.
people who go to watch violinists are natural born snobs tho.
Austin Allen
Anything with a P90 or humbucker you dumbass
Noah Barnes
you can play anything on anything you idiot
Jayden Barnes
Well so much for the solidbody then you mong
Alexander Kelly
The Gibson Les Paul was a originally meant to be a jazz guitar.
Telecasters ended up being popular in jazz.
A lot of jazz greats liked strats.
A lot of jazz players have a thing for "metal" guitars because the extra range and vibrato arm with superior tuning stability lets them theoryfag harder.
Violin prices are such a hot topic that double blind studies have been performed and most people actually liked the cheaper violins more.
Jace Bell
if you can play it on anything it doesn't have to be solidbody. your abstract thinking is failing, retard.
Eli Cooper
>you can play anything on anything >EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE >what's that noise? >oh, i was about to play slayer on an ES-335 and turned the amp on >EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Nolan Gomez
Well, looks like we're in agreement about the telecaster faggot then you inbred
Eli Harris
>liked the cheaper violins more. joseph curtis violins (the ones used on blind test) are a farcry away from cheap.
Camden Wood
Thank you for response. I prefer double cut guitars. I am considering SG and Ibanez AR series. I already have RG type and a Squire so I am looking for something different.
you can get a decent guitar used for like $300-$400, a decent combo used for like $300, and enough pedals to get the basics covered for under $300. My whole main rig costs about $1,600 and I absolutely love it. Not to say I don't currently have pedal acquisition syndrome...
Some things do command a premium. You will never get a guitar with a floyd rose original for much less than $800 because the bridge itself costs over $200. Quality tremolo systems that won't wear down and stop returning to 0 after a couple of years in general jack the price up.
You're also never going to get a GOOD active pickup for much less than $125 per pickup and that also adds to the price of a guitar. Poor? Enjoy your generic metalhead axe with a nasty sounding EMG 81/85 set, or worse, EMG 81 knockoffs (squier SQR).
Jeremiah Myers
you can still get a used guitar with all that for $1000 or so then a nice tube amp costs $1000 or so and a cable costs $20
so you went all high end and your whole setup is still half the price of a gibson "custom shop" guitar (they aren't actually custom shop lole)
Ryan Murphy
play a paula for that jazz fusion you tone seems anemic with that strat clone.
Brandon Baker
Good playing dude but way too much reverb
Jack Martinez
I agree the ceiling is higher for guitar. I just think entry level cost for guitar is probably lower for a comparable guitar vs violin setup. If we are talking acoustic guitar I think the difference will be even larger. That being said I don't really know what I'm talking about because I only play guitar/bass/brass.
speaking as someone who mainly writes progressions and melodies and doesn't get into speedwank soloing at all, where should I start? do you string together different variety of 1 octave arpeggios? that's kinda what it sounded like.
Thomas King
actives are a meme both samuel hammet and hetfield jumped on them ´coz of the endorsement money.
Landon Rogers
Actives can sound like passives but not the other way around
Get yourself a good EQ and actives are the best pickups ever, with the most flexibility and the lowest noise floor. The higher up you go, into better actives with a broader, flatter frequency response and more headroom, the more useful they are than a lowly EMG 81. Passives are caveman tech by comparison.
>grugs pickup sound like grugs favorite guitar player out of the box, grug not have to do anything
he is inspired by holdsworth in his playing, he uses some form of bebop in which he jumps around by using pentatonics to any mode or scales and and their triads.
Eli Long
You're a meme. Anyone who's played both knows they're different.
Ethan Taylor
The chad boomer pickup with its own signature tone
I was just stringing together riffs that I’ve been playing around with for awhile but at the same time yes toThere are tons of resources online that can explain it a lot better than I can but a good start is listening to and learning what you want to play :D
How do people play these things? Do you have to start on them and never stray?
t. lifetime les paul and superstrat fan
Henry Rivera
I need a backup acoustic. Used is fine something I can for between 500-800. I have a Taylor 414ce. I love it. I don’t want another Taylor or Martin. I mainly play finger style. Recommendations? Thinking a dreadnought but can be swayed.
Eastman? Takamine? Yamaha?
Juan Smith

Some user thought I was you yesterday because he thought our tone sound similar. Listening to this now, I'm even more sure that he is a retard.
Good playing though. I really one day vacaroo will allow hq uploads.

Anthony Jones
Oh yah. I’m in a major metro US area so used market is fairly plentiful
Kevin Cox
I can play on anything
Michael Parker
Teles look beautiful but I'm not sure about the sound. I like pristine neutral clean tones, correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've heard Teles can sound a bit quacky to me
I'd use the HH to play metal probably, big chugs, big fugs
Fender tend to do a decent job with the reissues right? I'll try one out at the store if I see it
Don't know much about this but I'lm check it out
Thanks for the replies guys, I'll keep them in mind while I look around
>a cuck download a reddit image lmao surprise surprise

Juan Myers
I have a good knowledge of theory, I just have never been inspired to play fast. But I guess I'll just have to put some notes together and make it happen if I want to be flashier hahaha. I always go back to long phrases of drop2 voicings with singable melodies. Idk if it's a crutch or if I just enjoy the vibe.
