The Who are better
too british. when the summer of love was happening, they were singing about harry rags, dying clowns and a sister that got a new washing machine.
Pete Townshend is practically gay for Ray Davies, he was deeply influenced by the Kinks.
the who should have quit in 1968, then maybe I'd consider them to be a decent band. instead they went on and made cringy rock operas and paved the way for shite like queen and symfo. fuck boomer era who.
the touring ban from the US really fucked them up
Stadium buttrock garbage with one of the worst singers in existence
I actually really like Who's Next but I guess you could make the argument that they were the connection between arena rock and the 60s
70s Kinks > 60s Kinks
This. Their "psychedelic" songs are like random shit Austin Powers would be thinking of.
>Arthur and Village Green Preservation Society aren't their best works
You wanna take this outside faggot
Everybody's In Show-Biz is their best record
>most kino of all the British Invasion bands
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I like most of their stuff, I even like some of the later stuff, like Superman, and they did a great live album in 1990 or something. my fav Kinks albums are Lola vs Powerman and Something Else
yeah I too think they've some great songs in the 1970's, I was just being edgy.
>overstayed their welcome and made cringy rock operas
unlike the kinks
>at Ray Davies' house: Poems reflecting the peculiarities and frustrations of English life in unprecedented depth and quality in popular music are being composed. Plus basically every band relying on riffs or power chords probably has them to thank for it.

Why don't we do it in the road continuing to filter plebs I see
>>times Kinks revolutionized music
Wrong.
>>times Beatles revolutionized music
>11
Also wrong.
Ah yes of course a filler track from an album that reached number 1 is a pleb filter, we all know what patrician musical taste mainstream listeners have.
>Pee Townshend is practically gay for Ray Davies
correct youtube.com
the kinks released "you really got me" in 1964, back when the beatles were still polished up wiggers. to be fair they caught on pretty fast since, but I don't think Ray was too arsed about revolutionising...
Nice leddit spacing retard. Way to disregard everything you stand for.
Okay.
So what? Beatles released I Saw Her Standing There and She Loves You a year before that.
>had the least success
Between I Saw Her Standing There, She Loves You, and You Really Got Me, only one can still be sung today without saccharine to anyone but the most ardent fans.
Beatles are better
two run of the mill pop songs, both not as nifty as what for instance Motown released at the time, whereas "you really got me" was for the time a new world record in hard rock
4th most successful brit invasion band after beatles stones and the who, thats where they belong.
Seems like he liked half of the songs and thought the other ones were kitschy, basically the same as my opinion
The Kinks got a LOT of appreciation from tons of the punks. that should be mentioned. same with The Troggs.
They're all cheesy as hell. People just think "you really got me" is cool because Van Halen covered it.
hahahaha hahahahahahaha
no, van halen covered it because they were some of the people who thought it was cool
Yeah, but that was like, what, 30 years ago or more? Do you want to know why no one else has covered it since then? Because it's not a very good song. It hasn't held up well.
Oingo Boingo covered it...
>"The Tebetian book of the Dead? Not enough songs about harry rags."
Lol Ray you madman
Ray's just mad because John wasn't a boring social reactionary like himself
It's a shame this doesn't continue in an Oasis-Blur type rivalry
>stinking the bed up for a month with your weird japanese wife
Indeed that is a dream for a lot of people that frequent this website.
>Goofy meme band that's only remembered because their singer went on to write music for goofy meme films
You're only strengthening my argument.
>hating yellow submarine
