90's emo edition

Reminder that emo is the true patrician genre. Post your fav emo records, recommend obscure/new shit, talk about emo, whatever.

Saves the Day Through Being Cool, that's my favorite emo album

Where my /vitreous humor/ bros at?

not all emo but some good ones on my chart, especially rainer maria, very under appreciated.

Technically early 00's but still an underrated emo album. Very evergreen influenced

Pretty stacked chart. If you like refused you gotta check out Nation Of Ulysses. NOU also mixes early emo with post-hardcore in their music

Will check this out, thanks.

Not sure on wheather this album qualifies as 90s emo, but i think it does. As far as emo bands go though, i mostly listen to just MCR. Their first 3 albums are master pieces, and dont tell me otherwise

none of what you said is emo

>mcr isnt emo
Whats it like having your head that far up your own ass?

I guess you started getting into music recently. You should start listening to actual emo.

lmao it’s pop punk. are you a girl who stumbled out of 2015 tumblr, thinking panic at the disco is emo?

are you retarded?
having lyrics with emotion is not emo
emo is a musical style that MCR definitely does not sit in

Like i said before, i dont listen to much emo, aside from MCR and weezer (although its a real stretch to call them emo) any good bands/albums you recommend i should start with?

"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE. Educate yourself.

not him, but i always consider the usual emo (or the more screamo leaning bit) gateways to be
American Football
Snowing
William Bonney
Merchant Ships

failing any of those I'd highly recommend Penfold - Amateurs And Professionals. It's emo with more standard song tones, but the vocalist is a fucking incredible singer, as a break from the usual strained voice

>pop punk isnt emo
Buddy times are a changing. Yesterdays pop rock is todays emo.
>having lyrics with emotion isnt emo
The name is litterally emo lmao get off your high horse.

>get off your high horse.
I'm not taking a high horse, I ain't taking a moral high ground I'm just stating fact, if you're going to try to bait me with cheap accusations at least make them accurate

If you want some 90s emo:
Mineral - Endserenading
Cap n Jazz- Burritos Inspiration...
American Football LP1
Diary - Sunny Day Real State
Nothing Feels Good - The Promise Ring
For screamo:
iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook- discography
Orchid - Chaos is me
For emo revival:
The Hotelier - Home Like No Place There Is
The Brave Little Abacus - just came back from the discomfort
TWIABPAIANLATD - Whenever if ever
Algernon Cadwallader (all its discography is awesome)
This is all entry level things, but I think they're good for getting started.

Pic related. Its so warm and heartfelt.

>Buddy times are a changing. Yesterdays pop rock is todays emo.
>thing is different now because i say

“no”

The name of the genre is not a fucking definition of it.

This.

Im sorry but have you guys just been living under a rock since the year 2000? The deffinition of emo has changed and evolved overtime, it doesnt mean what it used to. Stop being so protective about your little genre. Fuckin pretentious emo boomers kek

zummi

Thank you kind anons. Will listen to some of these when i have the chance. Which of these would you recommend i start with if i was looking for something like i brought you my bullets, you brought me your love but more close to true emo?

I guess Diary by Sunny Day Real State, but don't expect nothing like MCR of emo. It has nothing to do, actually. Anyway, I hope this genre brings to you as much enjoyment as it brought to me, user.

This is a fucking copypasta, fucking zoomer.

fuck off emo cucks no one likes any of you

Ill def give that a listen, thank you. Im trying to find more stuff like mcr, but nothing really comes close to what im looking for. I dont like bands like paramore, fallout boy, etc at all. just mcr. and old punk rock and post punk doesnt seem to have the same effect of what im looking for.

that's why we are emo genius

Thats the point tho user

best post itt
any similar recc to your pic please?

Evergreen - 7 songs
The Hated - Every Song
Indian Summer - Science
Heroin - Heroin
City of Caterpillar - City of Caterpillar
Orchid - Gatefold
Here's some of my other favorites, they skew closer to emo-core and skramz but they all have aspects that i like that i hear in The Pine

Attached: evergreen.jpg (225x225, 4K)

Almost forgot one more
Antioch Arrow - In love with jets
That's another classic emo-core album
