Based

Good. Helped get me into Tool (yes, in 2019)

That's amazing

They've pulled an amazing marketing non strategy, and it worked as a charm.
YouTube filled with prehistoric people who don't have any taste for anything but "react to this song that is fire bro, so extreme, so brainiac bro" for views did the rest.

And now I will wait September 21, to see earth wind and fire on tour, and hopefully let disappear the continuous spam of this type of thread on mu.

Also, I've read somewhere that the vinyl release will have a jack russell terrier inside, and a TV with all the videos of the band, and a postcard with a picture of a peach (just to be mysterious )

Radical bro!

Sauce pls

New Illmatic

>hey guys, welcome to today's episode - we're going to be reacting to the new NF song
"youtubers" make me fucking cringe

sure sounded like a fuckin tool song

I love this album

There is 100% a professional team involved planing and executing every step of their marketing.

You don't just take a decade off as "legendary band" and casually release a long-awaited new album. There's money and people involved.

found the zoomer
webm looks like a tranner

that is not a chad
he doesn't have the pretty boy face
pretty boy face matters way more than body

>tranner
Found the faggot

I agree.
Tool is now radical chic, it's the thing to wear on the alt-rock ambient.
(admittedly it's the thing to wear like a corduroy pair of pants, but still)
I agree on the amazing job and people planning the entire operation , and also the spotify invasion and win, and also the meet and greet for the rich people only early this year. Masterwork.
For now all great work, except artwork (probably the single is a tiny pixel of the album image) and except inoculum, invincible and descending.
Looking forward to next step.

This album will be shit.

You guys speak as if their music can't stand on its own.

I liked the single but I really hope the rest of the album has a little more identity.

>You don't just take a decade off as "legendary band" and casually release a long-awaited new album.

but they didn't take that time off. They toured the whole time.

Tool is one of the only bands that I can think of where their songs get stuck in your head but not because they are catchy but rather how the make you reflect on the lyrics themselves. Maynard's lyricism and vocals are honestly just so enchanting, even if you've listened to a Tool song ten times you still wouldn't have truly heard it yet.

it can't

I' m not bad, I'm just drawn that way, and I think that since lateralus there isn't been mutch that stands on its own, and
keep in mind lateralus itself was heavily influenced by King crimson discipline.
The rest does not help, the sound mixing and mastering was better in 2001, and does not help the attitude of mystical powers, numerology, rasputinology and so on fueled by the rabid fan base...they rightfully exploit the thing as mutch as its possible.

I would like to point out that I was a fan but I think that certain massive albums are doomed to be great and also to be murderers of bands (lateralus is one of them)

This should be Yea Forums's cup of tea. It has everything needed to be analyzed and pretentiously talked about. They just mad every other place is doing it too.

>EMBARGO UP YESTERDAY
>STILL NO FUCKING LEAK

Is there a leak

It's good. Probably not as good as Lateralus, but I like it a lot

Anyone else curious what wouldve happened if they didnt put their music on streaming sites and just released the new album physically? Would it have been the best selling physical release of the decade?
maybe
you're objectively delusional.

>bass is pretty loud in the mix
>this guitarist is garbage, how is he allowed to be the lead songwriter?
>lol tribal drumming
>Maynard sounds dejected, probably upset that he needs to milk the cash cow again in order to fund his weirdo reverse Varg hippie commune
>there's like 2 minutes worth of song here, why was it 10 minutes?
That covers my thought process, so basically a typical Tool release.

The drumming was low, I've hated.

Attached: 1565540424589.jpg (753x707, 29K)

it was probably the worst Tool song i've heard, a lifeless retread of everything they'd already done

>Would it have been the best selling physical release of the decade?
no
the decade started in 2010, and streaming barely existed in 2010. we will never see adele tier sales again, even boomers learned to use spotify now.
it'd be the best selling album of the decade if it was delayed for a few months though

sounds like a shit version of the grudge

Completely souless. Boring. Shit. No drums. No cool guitar riffs. No cool bass riffs. Maynard's singing was the only good thing. This album will be a disappointment.

Kind of underwhelming imo, but 7empest is fucking dope. One of the best tracks they've ever made.

Anyone have a link to the leak? struggling to locate it

there is no leak

buddy of mine and many people in this thread have listened to it, unless they're bsing?

the single was not enjoyable

singles of truth

The song was shit.

new album only has 7 songs and 2 of the 7 are interlude filler garbage. so the new album technically only has 5 songs. that's pretty bad for a band that's had 13 years to make it.

wrong
6 full songs, 1 instrumental, 3 segues.

Everything Tool has ever done would be better as instrumentals.

One of the most boring songs I've ever heard in my life

Imagine waiting 13 years for this. Oh, I did lol

there have been a couple of listening parties i guess, and at least one or two people on Yea Forums could have conceivably acquired an advanced press copy through their jobs

Honestly it's just alright, there's nothing about it that sounds new, nothing that pushes the boundary of what tool sounds like, just more of the same.

I love the constant rehashes of Fantano's opinion here

I don't watch that faggot, I hope we didn't agree on anything desu.

at first I thought the new single was far too similar to the old albums, but I see the logic behind it now I think. I think they want long time fans to know they haven't really changed - so I am withholding judgement until I hear the rest of the album, I think it will be novel and good, different but still true to original TOOL.

Ok, which of you posted this?

Attached: 845754758.jpg (521x55, 8K)

Somebody paid him to pretend the instrumentation isn't sloppy. It apparently worked because it's glaring but nobody ever mentions it.

Exactly, that was just the welcome back familiar melody. The opener.

pretty boring, I thought.

not a troll, cant figure out all the love.
just to be clear, im a huge fan, have seen the live many times, etc etc. lateralus\10kd are my favorites, though all are great. I just cant get behind it. I think its long for being long, and dull. I hope its an intro to something bigger ala parabol\a. looking back, i thought vicarious was a single that sounded like tool for the sake of sounding like tool, but I ended up loving that song after i gave it some more time and the dust settled. I hope that happens with this song as well. get that bob marley wanna be mother fucker outta here.

I couldnt place it - thanks for finding the words. thats how I feel. 2 minutes worth of song stretched to 10 minutes.

Almost met Maynard once

Attached: iw2vOdi.jpg (960x540, 47K)

Sounds like tool did a rendition of themselves. Its not bad but almost lime a repeat of their earlier stuff. I hate to say it but that anthony fantano dude hit the nail on the head in his review

Ive been listening to them since 94. OG ‘94

All you know about me is what I've sold you
Dumb fuck
I sold out long before you ever heard my name
I sold my soul to make a record
Dip shit
And you bought one
All you read and

Dollar

It's alright, below the threshold of their good songs.
50% were worth keeping and 50% weren't, and they're my favourite band. As long as there's one worth keeping on the album I'll be happy.

wtf tool goes hard

Everyone is disappoint when they meet maynard

Is that a Tool cap? Did Maynard actively avoid eye contact?

as a Yea Forums fag I can tell you it's just a shitty costume wearing employee at a disney owned theme park

Yes and he didn't even acknowledge me, that's his body guard who manhandled me out of the room

Attached: xNmsorv.jpg (480x321, 23K)

Yeah he seems like an absolute douche

Album has leaked. Check your sources.

my sources come up empty

I'm so fucking fed up with comparisons of tool and king crimson. Have you actually fucking listened to any fucking king crimson album? Not say that every album is very different from previous

Why does anybody talk about king crimson, they only have 5 good songs.

Now if you don't see frame by frame be influential in schism, you are deaf.
I'm not here to prove that I've listened to King crimson before, because you ask me.
If you don't see the influence of discipline (the album) in lateralus, go on YouTube and hear your god Danny Carey admit it himself to the camera, then return here and repent.
At the time the other idol Adam was releasing interwiews thanking and praising fripp who was i think in King crimson.
Or maybe he was joking, trying to be mysterious, eh?
