Dad thinks anything after the 80's is lame. He accepts muse though
Brother partially shares (we both like some muse, ratm and russian rock groups) and partially says my music is for druggies and hippies

my dad mostly listens to 80s boomer shit like u2 and the cure but he’s pretty open to all the stuff i show him and is willing to give it a shot
my mom is dead

They are total cunts to me about it always mocking me and saying shit like no one listens to that anymore (from my gran the failed opera singer hmmmm), they always sigh and cringe at me for being so obsessed with it and the guitar that coupled with all the other awful shit going on right now has demoralised me but none of them could care less.... I see my dad holding back laughter whenever I start playing or talking about it now. I really wanted to be like Hendrix but he just fucking ruined it for me saying shit like "hahahhah he thinks he's Hendrix" constantly, but as usual its just my fault for being too sensitive whatever then he sees my friend playing and thinks he's cool for it and will praise him for it. He'll praise himself and other peoples kids before he praises his own and absolute dedication to something like music is for retards (unless my friends do it). I also according to my bipolar cousin "only played to impress girls" and my other cousin will constantly mock me for being obsessed with the guitar now I don't enjoy the music I used too especially after all my friends (my """ band """) left me..... it sounds sort of stupid but just never be shitty to your kids about stuff like that just advise them to find something practical they can make money off of other than that just stay out of their interests don't fucking ruin it for them.

My parents like my taste in music.
My dad and I talk about music fairly often, he recommended me the velvet underground when I first started getting more into music as a teenager. We still recommend each other stuff and while our tastes don’t totally overlap there’s plenty we both like such as Beck and Herbie Hancock
My mum likes my music taste too but we don’t talk about it as much. When I first started coming here I listened to Pink Moon on someone’s recommendation and I realised s that I had heard it dozens of times when I was very young because my mum used to play it a lot.
I don’t talk about it much with any of my other family members because they’re not that interested in music.

>dads elitist cutoff includes the 80s
>dad likes muse
Your dad’s a fag lol

What kind of band were you in user

Anything with a guitar in it.... metal to rock we weren't really a band though we just listened to similar music and played instruments....we weren't very good as a band desu we could play other peoples music well kind of......

Was it at least fun while it lasted?

Yeah it was fucking great white it lasted probably some of the best years of my life I never realised it though

>some of the best years of my life I never realised it though
No one ever does. Sorry to hear that, user.

kek

Depressing and sad like me. They're not wrong, i hate happy, positive or uplifting music with a passion, makes me wrench.

His whole family likes Muse so clearly his dad’s not the only husband in the household.

dad thinks I only listen to video game music, doesn't understand when I tell him I dont. Granpda's pretty cool, though, listens to pretty much everything, and is eager to get into new music.

>Mum and Brother
"Unique and interesting, though I wish you would pick more listenable songs for the car"

>Dad
Don't talk but he'd probably approve

Define listenable

U hate your dad?

I don't even know, I tried to play TVU&N once, who knew that was unlistenable
I always try and pick something they've heard now so I'm limited to Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead, Smiths, and even then some of their songs are 'too out there'

And yea my dad was an alcoholic and used to beat my mother, brother and I until I turned 14 and hit him back. Mum kicked him out the next day and I've never heard from him again.

It sure is underage in here. I can't remember the last time I cared about what my parents thought of my music, that's a uniquely teenage phenomenon.
