It is called an augmented 4th, because the perfect fifth is also present. No one in their right mind would say the Lydian scale has a “diminished 5th” sound.

Listen to Scott Walker he uses it more than any other mode I think

thanks

for me, it’s the mysterious seductive sound of the phrygian mode

phrygian mode best mode

On the contrary, I think lydian mode is incredibly overused.

btw, isn't only 5th augmented or diminished? 4th can be raised or lowered right?

Well, not everyone is writing songs that play during a magical morning in a christmas movie where the protagonist has to fetch presents before the shops close

I wonder if these classically trained guys incels or sexhavers

Perfect intervals don't have major or minor characteristics so you go straight to augmented and diminished. An interval written on paper as C to E# would be called an augmented third even though it's just a perfect fourth when you hear it.

IIRC, 'perfect' intervals (4th and 5th) would denoted as either perfect, augmented, or diminished. All others (like the 2nd and 7th) would be denoted as major, minor, or diminished.

oh ok so the same applies for 4th because it's a perfect interval. thanks :)
