He has talent but needs to drop the gimmicks
his masked gay cowboy gimmick is the only thing keeping him afloat. his music is boring as fuck and would otherwise never have been noticed
This isn’t a DOOM thread, user
God I wish that were me
i watched his KEXP performance and yeah, wow, his shit is so boring. an absolute costume gimmick. really some pathetic shit out there.
the marketing makes you think it'll be something cool, i expected something heavy and contemporary and spooky, but it was just incredibly uninteresting guitar music.
this, listen to whitney k for something more interesting
only reason he blew up was because he was gay
I liked it
which begs the question, how did he blow up so fast?
is stuff is like any other indie-core shit, except with a cowboy gimmick for gays and trannies. before he released his album, back when he had two tracks out, he had less than 1000 followers. then, almost overnight, he gained thousands and thousands of followers following a tour of north america. ALL BEFORE releasing more music. he obviously has music to pay for the costumes and masks, and tranny support. its all so suspicious and his growth seems inorganic.
This guy is pretty good surprised I don't see him mentioned here very much
*money to pay for costumes and such
big money probably meant to push him
again, i saw him live before he blew up and the dude was playing at a small ass venue and it was probably the same for his whole tour and he goes and blows up
very very weird
because Yea Forums sucks dick for finding new music its rare to be in a thread where people rec new stuff
most threads are
>bait
>politics which i dont mind discussing in the context of an artist but most threads are there to just invoke a response
>waifu
>fucking k-pop
i mean david berman died and he didnt even get a sticky, even this thread will get no replies
you dont come here to find new music
but yea thanks, i really like whitney k, saw him many times here and at one of his shows he did a cover of the silver jews, but i forget the song he did
Yeah this board is in a bad way.. This is my favorite track by him youtu.be
imma sucker for goodnight
Fuck off back to work Tony
he is a gay blond whose whole image is about subverting the traditional american masculine icons of cowboys and country music the music industry lives for this kind of thing this guy probably would have been even more promoted except the gay black cowboy lil nas x stole his thunder
He's like if Marty Robbins, Ian Curtis, Chris Isaak, and MF Doom had a baby
really makes you think, his whole persona is fake and he hardly seems like a struggling musician
Cowboys have always been extremely gay it’s hardly subversive at this point and as for lil Nas
>Black cowboys in the American West accounted for up to 25 percent of workers in the range-cattle industry from the 1860s to 1880s, estimated to be between 6,000 and 9,000 workers.[1][2]
The thing about our traditional notions of history is that they can be just as inaccurate to actual history because there set by the dominate culture in the end
>posting more (((entertainment industry))) schlock as proof cowboys "have always been gay"
somehow i doubt the revisionists who attempt to change the narrative many years after the fact are closer to the truth
While cowboys were working out west, women where being literal prostitutes. And most people know that cowboys weren’t all white, the lil nas x thing is because he doesn’t make country music (neither does le mask man)
dude has talent and potential, for sure
if the entire album was as good as the best 4 tracks on it, it'd be in the mix for my top 10 of the year.
What are the best four tracks? Dead of Night and Turn to Hate are the only ones I ever feel like putting on occasionally
I like the kind of dream country thing he's got. I didn't even know it had anything to do with gay stuff at first. His album's about a 7/10.
like others have already said, pony was kind of bland but was enjoyable nevertheless. I think he has the potential to release something great down the line.
