obvious bait

shutup

Genuine question. The vocalist just sounds bored to be there and the instrumentals are boring and textureless.

pic related is their worst album

Their other albums aren't great but at least they're interesting. This is just poor man's Jesus Lizard with an industrial aesthetic tossed in to appear "original"

Sounds like it's too abrasive for you to appreciate. Listen to some more experimental music and you'll see why it's a 10/10.

I'm a big fan of Foetus, NiN, Throbbing Gristle and Combichrist, abrasive acts that still have a pulse and a compelling sound.

This album is just a grating, boring, textureless mess. Does the vocalist really maintain that spaced out, contemptful, bored mumble throughout all of Daughters work?

no, the self-titled from 2010 is fucking millions of miles better than this overrated crap

lmao

Eh, I guess this albums not for everyone, but all the songs on it have atleast one "compelling element" (I dont know music lingo). And if you really think the vocalist sounds bored you should listen to Guest House all the way through.

Did you even make it past City Song lol. because thats about the only track on there that would fit your description.

>I-it's good if you skip all the bad parts!
I got halfway through City a then started skipping through the rest of the songs out of boredom just to see if it got better. It didnt.

I mean City Song is basically just a mood setter, and it's pretty uneventful until the last minute or so. And skipping through songs is also what I did on that album for a start, I'll admit. When I actually listened to several songs all the way through they got a lot better.

I think you just want to like it so you can be part of a scene.

The same could be said for you disliking it, I'm pretty sure a majority of people who find their way to this album likes it to some degree atleast. But people on Yea Forums love to be contrarian and shit on other peoples opinions so...

I've clearly outlined my reasons for disliking it, though.

try self titled user

>Listening to half a song and skipping through the rest.
>I'm done here, this album's trash.
Really?

All of their albums have a different sound. If this one bored you you might like their self titled album. Hell Songs is wildly different and so is Canada Songs. Both great in their own ways though. I'm so glad Daughters came back.

Yes, really. Industrial is not a genre that you waste time "forcing yourself through" if there's nothing compelling about the sound.

You guys are right, self titled puts that annoying tryhard shit to shame. Why did they even release that mess ?

I can understand if the walls of noise are not to your liking but most of the tracks have "compelling sounds", imo. Eg. the chorus on "Satan in the Wait", the bells that come in halfway through "Daughter" or the horns in the end of "Guest house" just to name a few.

It's an excellent album and really just a continuation of their evolution. They've slowed down and experimented more with each release. I don't think it's worse. Just different. Definitely wouldn't say it's tryhard shit that's for sure
