>Then OK Computer (1997) happened and the word "chic" took on a new meaning. The album was a masterpiece of faux avantgarde (of pretending to be avantgarde while playing mellow pop music). It was, more properly, a new link in the chain of production artifices that changed the way pop music "sounds": the Beatles' Sgt Pepper, Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, Fleetwood Mac's Tusk, Michael Jackson's Thriller. Despite the massive doses of magniloquent epos a` la U2 and of facile pathos a` la David Bowie, the album's mannerism led to the same excesses that detracted from late Pink Floyd's albums (lush textures, languid melodies, drowsy chanting). Since thee production aspects of music were beginning to prevail over the music itself, it was just about natural to make them "the" music.

Truest thing any critic has ever said

Imagine being pleb filtered by fucking OK Computer HAHAHAHAHAHA

Imagine being pleb trapped by p4k

It has like 3 good songs. I've never met a radiohead fan who wasn't a pretentious asshole who's turned their nose away from other 90's rock groups and pretend to like Swans

>says all that
>*gives it a 7/10*

>all the seething gaydiohead fans in this thread
face it, some ugly british guy moaning over random keyboard notes isn't kino

>faux avant garde
So he hates it because he thinks they thought it was weirder than it was? What an awful critic, he's more concerned with how other people look at bands than the music itself. Worse than Cuckgay

Radiohead is boring pop music for the depressed.

based

Hes completely right though. OK Computer is an album that emulates an avant-garde album and is composed similarly to one, but doesn't actually bring and new concepts to the table.

It’s boring whiney bullshit, a typical shitstain of the Cobain legacy that is finally started to die out in the 10’s

>emulates an avant-garde album
No it doesn't

Based Kurt living rent free in your head, he needed a new one anyway

It does. And true avant-garde albums can be let off the hook for not paying heed to typical musical conventions because they're avant-garde, they expand upon the scene with concepts that are truly ahead of their peers.

Ok computer doesn't have any such hook. Radiohead didnt do anything new or forward thinking on OK computer. But it is still packed with lazy, spoken word acts like BABY IN BACK SEAT, a boring spoken word piece that thinks its edgier than it is because Thom put the lyrics through Microsoft Sam.

That should be lazy songs, not "spoken word acts," I fucked up my post composition.

some whiny bedwetters wailing over dissonant guitars. they only got popular because after 3 years of britpop everybody was hungover

There, already a beter review than that pompous italian faggot.

>7/10

I'm convinced Scaruffi has his retarded "7 MEANS BUY IT EVENTUALLY" disclaimer so he can just slap a 7 on anything he doesn't wanna put actual thought into rating and still not risk offending anybody.

It doesn't though lmao
>didn't do anything new
Again you are criticizing what other people say about Radiohead, not the actual music
>edgier than it is
And here, again, you're upset over what you assume Thom was thinking when he made the song, not the music itself.

Try again.

I am criticizing the actual music for not being innovative enough to justify it's own existence. Cope more.

your shit doesnt smell as good as you think it does pal

> look up scaruffi's thoughts on radiohead
> idk maybe he'll have some interesting critique
> look at ratings
> pablo honey: 6.5/10
> the bends: 6/10
how the fuck do you guys take this retarted boomer seriously?

>Then OK Computer (1997) happened
