Regardless of your feelings toward this album (no it's not a pro-tools demo), Trent Reznor up and made the best album of his life here and one of the most expressive and detailed chronicles of the depths of depression and heroin addiction. If he committed suicide after making this album, it would live among everyone's top 10 simply out of social pressure. It is objectively better than anything Throbbing Gristle did. Sure, what Throbbing Gristle did was novel, but they simply didn't have the musical acumen to make anything interesting beyond one listen except for Hamburger Lady.
this album is very overrated the only memorable tracks are closer, reptile, and hurt i unironically think i could've done better lyrics and better track placement than what reznor did singing and instrumentals though, he has me beat

>the first world doesn't care about the problems it faces makes sense
Jace Collins
Opium addiction happens in shithole third world countries too, dingus.
Logan Gutierrez
I like industrial music but ive never listened to anything NIN for more than 2 minutes. only good thing trent has done was the fat rave bassline on that "bow down before the ones you serve" song
Julian Young
Yes, I’m pretty sure junkies in Pakistan relate to Trent Reznor‘s struggle and vice versa, as do opium addicts in 19th century China.
Ayden Scott
The Fragile is better in every conceivable way
Closer is almost a perfect song, but the hook instrumentation is weak, should have stayed industrial the whole time.
Cooper Robinson
Oof. The Fragile is somehow the most overrated NIN album. Just way too long, scattered, and overly dramatic.
Matthew Brooks
It's music. Get over yourself. Cultural ubiquity is a fucking absurd metric to judge quality on.
I disagree, the push and pull of faster and slower songs and the leitmotivs are fucking incredible. There's less lyrical whining and more of a focus on song craft. The whole album feels like the song "The Downward Spiral," lots of interacting parts and a Pixies-esque contrast between loud and soft.
Carter Long
HIT BY A ROOOOCK HIT BY A ROOOOOOOOCK WHO DID IT
Julian Evans
Broken, Fragile, Year Zero, NTAE, Bad Witch are better
James Roberts
fuck you wannabe nigger
for me it, its skinny puppy
Lincoln Cruz
>skinny puppy Fuck you genre tourist kike For me its gotta be foetus
Kayden Thompson
For me it's Nine Inch Nails, Godflesh, Foetus, Skinny Puppy, Front, Front Line Assembly, Ministry, Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad Because I'm not a retard, who has to be a fan of just one band or put them against one another
Colton Lopez
Nah, you're a retard because you didn't include throbbing gristle. Go back you inane redditor.
Nathan Foster
I'm not gonna put them there because they didn't grow on me yet, entirely. I respect them and liked their stuff I heard, but it'd be fake of me to put them there still. I could have put in Coil and God though
Logan Sanders
this shit sucks. industrial is gay and people are only interested in the cult of personality around trent reznor and not the music.

Imagine a parallel universe version of NIN where Trent handles the music and Marilyn Manson writes the lyrics.
Connor Brown
Who cares about what people in Pakistan think
Ian Turner
What an awful universe, have you heard Manson record after Holly Wood? Trent has improved lately, while Manson is embarrassing, highest degree. Also; to some extend, what you're asking for is on Antichrist Superstar
