I bet Billie Eilish considers herself influenced by Kurt, so I'd have to say yes.

kys hair metal fag

>likes Nirvana
>thinks he has the right to call anyone else a gay slurr

You're literally gay, dude. Like tranny esque.

nah, all the soundcloud rappers are the ones that say they're influenced by nirvana even though they sound absolutely nothing like them and kurt cobain would probably hate them

Ever heard of shoegaze?

no, wtf od that

No, you're thinking of punk. Grunge is close tho

op is the worst thing that ever happened to this thread

I unironically think hip-hop is the worst thing that has happened to music. yes, there's a few gems to be found in there but that's gotta be the genre most devoid of musical talent in the whole musical spectrum.

honestly it might be this desu

riot grrrl is the worst thing

You're thinking of country

Babes in Toyland are based stfu

dont mistake the capitalist tendency to produce excess, for an inability to make good music in X genre. i would agree that most rap is pretty trash, but thats just what happens when the market catches on. also I would bet more people see rap as an easier way to get famous than through other genres (like that fuckboy post malone)

fucking summer child, you know nothing

if you can't see the inherently capitalist nature of hip-hop and how it is not something that is an accidental successful product run in the market, but actually a recently discovered fundamental function of markets that helps accelerate consumption and degradation of human intimacy then you are fucked boii

No, that means that I must gaze at a shoe and rethink my life yes?

side note, anybody else notice the influx of people wearing Nirvana shirts lately? ydis?

they're still relevant with teenagers and one of the most popular rock bands with teenagers

this gives me a slight glimmer of hope for today's music and culture

nirvana is probably the most overrated band of all time. this is coming from someone who loves rock music.

Nirvana is catchy though

it's not, otherwise I wouldn't be listening to music at all

gay faggot opinion

This

Uh no, it's because just like Ramones t shirts and Motorhead t shirts, the imagery has become "badass" to normalfags who want to momentarily appear edgy and alternative, nobody listening to Nirvana more than any other rock music

that's true, they are mostly just listening to teen spirit and come as you are
there's still a fair amount of zoomers that like nirvana though

>grunge is the worst thing that ever happened to music
Agreed. The creation and usage of the term "Grunge" to define the Seattle music scene of the late 1980s and early '90s (and then also applied to other aesthetically similar bands from roughly the same era despite their geographical location) was an exceptionally poor term that was used solely to help brand the scenes aesthetic and style for the benefit of the media and corporations who wished to profit off of the "scene". There was no need for ripped jeans and flannel to be turned into some sort of fashion statement that the impressionable youth of the 90s felt the desire to buy into simply because Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder happened to wear simple outfits instead of the previously popular cross-dresser look of the 80s Rock scene.

They sell them at Walmart, Target and whatever other major chains you have near you.

You're ignorant and have poor taste.

You clearly haven’t heard my occult folk band.

Kurt couldn't sing or hold a note, he couldn't play a single guitar solo, and his music was just power pop minus the things that make power pop fun, like you know...sounding fun and upbeat

Who needs that talentless depressed junkie's autistic musings and ramblings

and you have the taste of a high schooler if you seriously think nirvana was anything beyond alright.

My laws would be: Smoke where you want, drink what you want, whenever you want. Get the age of consent down. Legalize drugs. Kill all the people who like grunge music. Kill all surfboarders. Melt the snow. Anybody who wears a cowboy hat should get the electric chair. Generally have a good time. With that platform I think I can get you elected. I think I can get myself elected.

lol I like that. Is that from a movie?

based nirvana fan

Kurt liked hip-hop, I'm not sure what he'd think of Soundcloud rap. I get the feeling he'd dislike the commercial aspect of it, but appreciate the sentiment.

Wrong

Emma Stone is the worst thing that ever happened to tv

this x1000000

What's this cover implying?

Kurt liked Swans and company

he was a cuck after all

I wouldn't call Nirvana the MOST overrated band, but they're pretty fucking overrated.

The thing with Nirvana is that they were just another pretty solid underground Alternative band from the late 80s. Kurt was torn between harder Rock, noise shit and Pop songwriting and with Nevermind decided to pursue that aspect of songwriting. He viewed it as a risk (within the scene Nirvana was in) but also as a chance to become a modestly successful alternative band (i.e. Sonic Youth or Dinosaur Jr.). They just happened to release the right kind of album at the right time. It was Alternative/Punk enough to be counterculture but slick and Poppy enough to be accepted by the mainstream rather quickly. It was truly a perfect storm.

IMO Nirvana as a mainstream hit-making group are a bit overrated perhaps and Kurt Cobain as a troubled poet/musician is massively overrated, it's sickening how people tarnish his image to this day. But for almost everything else they did (even just Bleach and Incesticide) I think they are massively underrated. Had they existed and not released Nevermind but were just a relatively unknown Indie group they would still have been great. Kurt was amazing at blending noise/chaos with melody and hooks.

hell yea dude, you sound like a true rocker!

Only because it's raped by the current music industry by plants like Billie Eyelash and other Scum

Nirvana fans are by far the worst fanbase on the planet

what movie is this from desu

Nirvana's music is fine but my god are the hits so overplayed

kurt was a good guy, not his fault clear channel and mtv kept milking his death and playing them to oblivion

Mostly this. I could gladly live the rest of my life without listening to Smells Like Teen Spirit or Heart Shaped Box ever again.

too young to be there zoomer. hahahaha
seethe away & then kys

Maniac
Not a movie but 10 episode series

can't fight the seether
lel

No, this whole country pop thing is the worst thing that 's happening to music as we speak.

Veruca Salt aren’t riot grrrl.

I agree

>No, this whole country pop thing is the worst thing that 's happening to music as we speak.
Country pop happened in like...idk, the late 90s...
Sorry you're living in LA or NYC but for the rest of us in America it's been a thing for a long time

>can't fight the seether
you really can't

>Country pop happened in like...idk, the late 90's
Sure, but it's never been this mainstream, and in these numbers. I wouldn't really call it real country music either.

>Taylor Swift and Sugarland and Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts have never been mainstream

And I'm being generous, this is shit from the last ten years to my recollection, pop country has been a thing for decades now, children have been raised on it

Are you gonna tell me you never heard this song? Than you must be living in a very non white part of the US, and I don't mean that in a bad way, just a facts way.

that's not how you spell reggaeton

Literally nobody listens to that shit

hell i dont even know what it is but it sure does sound like niggers

Mexicans do

Agree

People consider Billie eyelash the pop version of grunge?

Can someone shoot me in the head please?

>There was no need for ripped jeans and flannel to be turned into some sort of fashion statement that the impressionable youth of the 90s felt the desire to buy....
And yet look about today, its never been more fashionable around the whole globe today than to wear this

kurts extreme hatred for corporate music was mostly directed at his own band though. he had serious identity problems when they started to get popular because of how quickly it happened.

>K-pop

Pop is worst

There's a few bands of grunge that are really great, like soundgarden and Alice in chains, but in general, it isn't a good genre lol

Sexy Gwen Stefani turning into a rapper was terrible...
