Poppy, melodic yet sounds so Swans. Why is this album so based?

To Be Kind. It's acclaimed for a reason. But the best one is The Glowing Man, so save it for last.

I've got every single Swans album in my library. Listened to most of them at least once years ago, but couldn't get into it. It's so trancelike, so gritty, yet ascending. But it doesn't hold me. Should I give it another try? Of course you're going to say yes. But then what album should I listen to... after To Be Kind?

You need to try a few from different eras. To Be Kind is entirely different from their early work, which is entirely different from their work in the late 80s, which is entirely different from their work in the 90s.

This album is insanely depressing, even by Swans standards.

Yes, go on. Complete the trilogy, user.

When he says "I'm so glad I'm better than you". That's how I know he's the real deal.

The words of an ignoramus. Listen to more music.

Decided to start their discog from the beginning this morning. Filth was good, I’m not digging Cop so far though. I heard their stuff from the late 80s / 90s is the toughest to get thru. Wheres OPs in their timeline?
Asher Nelson
Shit opinion kys

Not with Swans, that's for sure
Jonathan Wood
don't listen to pretentious assholes like this one, user. there is nothing overly hard or complicated with swans, especially with their newer albums. i know that a lot of people on the internet try to make it look like you have to go through insane intellectual challenges to get the music but that's just jerking off by a bunch of pseuds. just start with "the seer", you are going to enjoy it. just keep an open mind when it comes to dissonances and noise and why they might be employed, but overall it is a harmonic, at times beautiful and extremely rewarding record.
Michael Green
This is true. Only thing that could be hard about them is 2 hour long albums. But when you like their sound, 2 hour becomes a blessing.

thanks fellas, didn't expect answers so different.
Probably gonna start with Spiderland because I never heard anything bad about it here and it's not as long as Swans albums but I'll get to all of your suggestions regardless of whether I liked Spiderland or not.
