Perma link to user discord worked a few weeks ago, but appears to be dead. Found this buried in the archive, so feel free to inhabit and maybe revive it at your own risk >discord.gg/kgaZkZ7
Here is a collection of Sweet Trip's loosies and compilation appearances, including tracks from the band members' Soundclouds. Thanks nice shugazi general user!
What’s your favorite Japanese artist right now? I’ve been listening to a lot of coaltar of the deepers recently I don’t think so man. I remember the guy that made it mentioned he found some more SoundCloud loosies from individual members or something. Maybe the thread will summon him BASED song from probably my favorite Cocteau twins album. Love the darker gothic punk edge
Oh, I didn't know that "On Fire" and "I Could Live in Hope" were slowcore. I'm listening to "Stratosphere" now, it sounds good. Thanks for the input!
Bentley Phillips
These threads recently have been so good. Thanks everyone for your efforts.
Isaac Green
really diggin that L'amour fou track, thanks for the rec
Nathaniel Price
they're on the dreamier side of slowcore for sure. Here's another that does a good mix of dream pop and shoegaze along with the slowcore youtube.com/watch?v=0a4dUKyuYrc
Slowcore album right here, it came out March of this year with fucking 2 hours and 43 minutes, it's 51 tracks.
Listening to that right now. By the way, are women better with shoegaze? Almost all the good shoegaze bands that I've listened so far have at least one woman.
once you're done with thesei suggest you checking out pic related, super atmospheric and dense dreamy half slowcore half ambient record. if you are not really interested in the ambient part, stick to tracks 2,3 and 5. ownrecords.bandcamp.com/album/narrowing-type i don't really listen to that much jap shoegaze, but i really liked that album i posted. Coaltar of Deepers are cool but their metal parts kinda suck in my opinion. really nice, thanks
bailter space is a good call. They can have same weirdish punk elements. For a person who likes grunge I'd really recommend Swervedriver. Very alt rock like and a main artist of the genre youtube.com/watch?v=MHva52tOoeo
youtube.com/watch?v=LXEw3RYvTvQ Most Japgaze I've heard sounds extremely sugary. Like cleaning your toilet with soda sugary. Thick as fuck. And I tend to get a bit tired of it in bigger doses, like two albums in a row
MBV was fucking amazing, go listen to it again. Album of the decade for me
Justin Reed
As I wrote a couple of threads ago, the first half is good, the second half is a dream pop masterpiece. The last 1/3 of both Secret and Stay With Me are completely orgasmic
Connor Anderson
album name? google images aint helping
Asher Clark
You literally have it on the cover. Look in the corners.
protip: there is no shoegaze that will ever touch MBV or Slowdive
there, I just saved you a load of time
Anthony Lewis
That doesn't mean there's no shoegaze left to check out.
Angel Walker
there's other shoegaze to check out, but almost none of it is worth your time.
Adrian Anderson
>none of it it's worth your time Actually, I enjoyed most of the shoegaze albums I've listened to. I'm not looking for something better, I'm looking for something with a different shoegazing style.
Carter Brooks
each to their own. I have the simplest tastes, I'm satisfied with the best.
Nicholas Campbell
What strange way to think. If I hear something I like, I want more of it. That's the reason I like Starflyer 59, The Daysleepers, Fleeting Joys etc etc as much as Slowdive and MBV.
I could name over 400 shoegaze songs that I would listen to as well as MBV or Slowdive.
Aaron Wood
Pretty good. Interesting drums and roaring guitars
Does this belong in /shugazi/? Doesn't feel like shoegaze to me...
Colton Watson
Help. I can't stop listening to Candy Claws.
I actually didn't really think I was into shoegaze until I heard them. It's usually a bit to harsh for me, so I lean towards the dream pop side. Like, I love the blanketing feeling of the songs, but most shoegaze I've heard tends to feel like a blanket made out of steel wool.
Looking for rock that's not shoegaze in and of itself but influenced by its guitar techniques and poppiness. Stuck On You has a layer of heavy guitar strumming that I think is very similar to Only Shallow. White Pony era Deftones counts too.
Good stuff, definitely wouldn't've found that on my own
>TFW can never make recommendations on my own because everything I listen to was already recommended by Yea Forums Even the one or two albums I 'found' by myself by browsing rym were apparently insanely popular here already.
Owen Garcia
what are those albums
Jordan Bell
lol the album is nocebo dummy.
Angel Mitchell
Candy Claws - Ceres and Calypso in the deep time is the first one that comes to mind. Found it browsing rym, came here because apparently I'm super into shoegaze and just didn't know it. First post I saw last thread was someone else raving about the album.
Though granted, it was top 200 in the tag, so I shouldn't be surprised.
Justin Bell
>mfw I'm on page 20 and can't find the albums I want on rutracker or archives
Life is so unfair, user...Just be happy that you at least found a good one.
What's your current setup? Mine is Jaguar -> Tuner -> Shoegazer -> EQ -> Polara -> DD7 -> Vox AC30. I switch around pedal positions of the Shoegazer and EQ sometimes but I really can't tell the difference. Shoegazer is a ton of fuzz and I find it hard to get a nice tone out of it so I'll probably get another distortion in the future.
Kayden Fisher
>that build up to When you sleep incomming > oh fuck oh oh shit oh fuck >pre-cum in my pants a litte bit >VREEEEEEEEE VROOOOOOOOOO VROOOOOOW VREEEEW AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA OOOH SHIIIITTTT
I know that feel, bro. My headphones broke and I'm stuck with some shitty ones for the time being. Tried listening to loveless and it was just shit. I had no idea that a good pair of headphones are this important to be able to /shugazi/ properly.
Evan Thompson
huge fucking word. I will just outright refuse to listen to music without my headphones. Yes I know that's autistic
Julian Roberts
Do you own any shoegaze related merch?
Evan Young
I'll just refuse listening to shoegaze without a pair of headphones. Even with these shitty ones I'm doing okay with some dream pop.
Nope. Listening to music is free, that's enough for me. A piece of "merch" won't make me a bigger fan.
I know no one cares, but; The fact that Sweet Sahumerio and Soon sound exactly the same is literally ear porn when both albums are played back to back.
mbv is better than loveless but I like loveless more because I've spent years adoring it if I'd never heard either album until now I'd probably prefer mbv
Leo Wright
Really like Future Love. This isn't grabbing me the same way. I miss the punchy frenetic drumming from their earlier stuff. This just sounds kinda generic.
Japgaze. This and Coaltar are the only two acceptable japgaze bands that actually play shoegaze and not some dreamy nu-gaze-ish influenced pompous shit.
everyone who wants to play shoegaze unironically needs to try a proco rat. it is probably the most versatile distortion ever, gain at 10oclock filter at 11 and i can get a jonny greenwood lead tone, distortion maxed filter 2oclock and i can get incredibly close to Loveless, especially since and i'm using a les paul knockoff and a
pretty solid, but still a little too poppy for me. I think her previous EPs were a bit better yeah I'd say it touches on slowcore. Low is always welcome very nice thanks lad sleep tight user
fuck why is this me? How do people make such accurate shit like this?
Elijah Myers
>but still a little too poppy for me. I think her previous EPs were a bit better Huh? I think Sugar & Spice is a lot more poppy than Keepsake. The latter is noiser and have more electronic influences though.
You’re right, I definitely meant less noisy when I said poppier. I guess it just seemed more “safe”. Still a solid debut. People comparing her to a modern Elizabeth Fraser are a little off though lol
Thomas Cruz
just dumping a small variety of shugazi songs/albums

one mbv shirt 2 slowdive shirts one sucks one is a pretty cool version of the souvlaki cover 1 whirr around album cover shirt
Alexander Sullivan
Blankenberge is literally amazing.
William Rivera
psot
Benjamin Lewis
Thoughts on this? Was he really a Yea Forumstant? Listening to This Time on dxm blew my nuts off.
Album of the Decade. Go listen to their output as Sound of Ceres.
Isaac Russell
bruh same
Asher Jackson
They're good but you're right about the slowdive one
Nolan Flores
based, i always get a little bit hard when the outro to tohereknowswhen plays
Luis Peterson
totally it's from a whole album of shoegaze beatles covers called Beatless there are high and low points on the album but I think it's pretty awesome overall and I think the songs work pretty well with the shoegaze sound
A case could be made for the Galaxie 500 version of Ceremony being better than the original. (By original I'm going to say NO since JD never had an official studio version.)
I don't think he was a Yea Forumstant or the one shilling this album on here a few years back. I honestly think it got discovered in the Bandcamp threads and it just got shared around a lot because it's actually good.
What is some good really sad shoegaze? I like loveless and HANL and the like but i can never really like things like dreampop and more happy/not sad shoegaze
Yo, I've liked Daughter, Alvvays, Boy Pablo, Purity ring, Mazzy Star, London Grammar, etc for a while now. Is this Shoegaze/dreampop? Is that was this is called?
>made stupid amounts of money >got married to qt >3 kids >madeit.jpg >got some vacation so I rent a luxury yacht for a couple weeks. tour the med. >first day was great, kids tuckered out. sleeping on the couch inside the ship. >I'm in a hammock at the stern. watching the sun set in a hammock >listening to "How" by Daughter youtube.com/watch?v=63xjiLDRWBI >can feel the breeze, smell the salt, hear the water gently brush the bow >wife gets off the couch inside and walks over. >hair blowing, dress fluttering >she smiles, kisses my cheek, cuddles up in hammock with me >fall asleep as song fades out.
I don't think I know any strictly instrumental shoegaze ( and I have 391 hours of the genre on my computer) except for Southpacific: youtube.com/watch?v=iVrdyS5WOoM
Kinoko Teikoku are the best! Got every one of their albums. So good.
Easton Scott
>shugazi
Airiel are great but the vocals dont do it for me
Colton Butler
The Florist - Middle of Winter EP
A lot of SPC ECO's stuff is driving and punchy but it's also usually a bit slower and has a kind of industrial tone. You might like the Don't Say EP.
Christian Williams
black metal, techno and kpop
Jaxon Thomas
hello yes
Elijah Johnson
soooo what are the chances of a new mbv album this year?
Isaac Turner
Less than 100%
John Cruz
girl groups, male groups or indie?
Robert Ross
Was sweet trip just discovered or something? I don't remember seeing them on mu a year ago
Christian Allen
The MEGA link was mine, I took it down and replaced it with a folder so that I could update it when I find new tracks. Here you go >mega.nz/#F!IARWmKwZ!aOq1lE1wyUDVcTtNzl8bSw
