Oh sometimes I see her undressing for me
She's the soft naked lady love meant her to be
And she's moving her body so brave and so free
If I've got to remember that's a fine memory

This Jew is either sitting in an urn or 6 feet under still crying about a girl he had a fling with. I like Cohen, I just also like being mean.

Kanye West

greatest songwriter of all time, no one comes close

based song

Robert Smith

>give me crack and anal sex

whoa

>greatest songwriter of all time, no one comes close

What a load of balls. There’s more to songwriting than dark and moody lyrics, the man was a weak melodist and I would say it’s a prerequisite that the “greatest songwriter of all time” has several songs that are anthemic and almost universally well liked. Hallelujah is his only song that fits that description.

hallelujah is a shit song

Probably not better but I think Jason Molina deserves a mention as at least one of the best songwriters of the last 20 years

Yeah I gotta say on a personal level, Neil Young & Jason Molina.

>This made wrote the majority of GOAT album (TVU&N) and wrote GOAT song with TVU (Sister Ray)
>Had a near flawless run with TVU four albums
>Solid solo career with more classic albums/masterpieces
>His final album is the best album of this century so far
>TVU&N, WLWH, TVU III, Loaded, Transformer, Berlin, MMM, Street Hassle, Blue Mask, New York, Songs For Drella, Magic and Loss, Ecstasy, and Lulu are all 8/10 masterpieces or above

I think Street Hassle is one of the greatest songs of all time, there was a phase where I listened to it several times a day.

YES and Real Good Time Together was the first domino for shoegaze, Street Hassle is overlooked massively

For me,It's Nick Cave

Adam Sandler

Jason Isbell and David Allan Coe

Wallace Stevens is the greatest english language poet of the past 100 years

Lyrically, Dylan, Joni Mitchell, loads of the folk singers from the 60s and Lennon/McCartney (to name a few) were better lyricists or poets

Music/melody-wise, Bacharach/David, that songwriting crew in Motown and Brill Building were loads better with catchy and sophisticated pop songs that still resound emotionally with people.

>no (You)s
