How much should I pay for guitar lessons? Place closest to me charges $45 and looking at their website I don't think any of their instructors really warrant that based on their CV. I want someone who can really help me nail down my technique mostly and with developing a better ear

Like I'm pretty sure the only reason you "need" something like a branded ESP, a PRS core model, or a "real" les paul, is if you are an endorsed artist and so you are being paid to appear on stage with a "real" one like all the other rock stars played, since it makes the brand look better if you aren't playing an SE or something (which says "Their expensive shit isn't much better, their cheap shit is good enough to perform for thousands with". True, but not a good look for the company). You don't need it for the tone, you need it because you're being paid to advertise it so people who are bad with money will think they need it for the tone.
But some brands are exempt from this because they make really affordable shit and not a lot of extravagant guitars described in phrases like "a carbon fiber reinforced neck-through masterpiece made of seven different tonewoods with abalone binding and gold inlays for shimmering tone". Fender and Ibanez come to mind. The highest of their high end matches the price and value of stuff like higher end PRS SE and gibson studio models.
Nobody born today, no matter how talented, will amount to something as a guitarist because guitars are out of fashion with the music industry. And no matter how talented you are, unless you get into the industry young, you will never be more than "that really, really, good guy who played a bar once" because the industry has a clear preference for youth, or some forgettable indie fuck
