The director was actually desperate to get Sufjan to write the music, and heavily pursued him. He did agree to do it, however. But as far as Sufjan writing songs for pride month... I think that was obviously pandering to his gay fans. He probably isn't gay and believes it's a sin to be so. He's just interested in pleasing everyone.

Yeah but I've read literature about childhood friends with similar language. To say you kiss someone with your hand is just a poetic way of saying you touch them fondly. If you want to take this as proof to support your theory (everyone does) you can, but it isn't sufficient proof. I don't care if he's gay, I just think he actually isn't and a bunch of gays really want to paint him as such.
