Why are they the only Rap Metal band that aged well?
Why are they the only Rap Metal band that aged well?
Other urls found in this thread:
Because they weren't as cringy wigger as Fred Durst and his ilk
Their authenticity was buttressed by their Che Guevara t-shirts and their unironic support of the shining path Maoist drug cartel,
They aged about as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers or Sublime, aka not at all, but some people just like to LARP as a 90's stoner/skater anyway
Zack, what you know about a set or a sign
Fake motherfucka never even seen a 9
Unlike most rap metal groups they actually had a solid rhythm section.
Any curmudgeon can point out that zach's lyrics are anarchist cringe or that Tom's toy raygun sound effects are lame but no one can deny that brad and tim held it down.
idk, morello's solos sound like shit but i agree about the rest
it hasn't actually aged well - very repetitive, no propulsion, very freshman poli sci vibe to it... 2/5
Have you listened to anything other then Killing In The Name?
By what fucking standard did this age well?
By the Limp Bizkit standard.
AMERIKKKA
Honestly, I think the problem is that the bands that followed RATM took out the politics while keeping the anger. RATM sounded angry because they wanted to sound revolutionary and righteous. Take away those politics, and you just have rapping white guys. What can angry white guys rap about? Being tough. And nobody takes wiggers seriously when they pretend to be tough.
I also think those guys took the funky tough guy hardcore sound of bands like Biohazard and Madball. But the difference is, those NYHC guys actually were tough as nails street kids. So when you get the nu metal kids who have the anger of Rage but not the politics, and the posturing of Madball without the background, it's just cringey and ridiculous.
>RATM, Sublime, Chillis didn't age at all
Correcto.
maybe if you smoke an ounce a day
>What can angry white guys rap about?
doing it all for the nookie
Nu-metal was about copying Korn, and Korn was all about mental illness and childhood trauma, lashing out against bullies, etc
Nu-metal is basically school shooter the genre, and I can tell you I don't really relate much with it anymore...but for a time in my life, I found that kind of shit far more relatable than I ever have found RATM or any political band.
>Zach's lyrics are anarchist cringe
It's anarchist to criticize your government now? Take your red, white and blue tinted glasses off fella
RATM are communists who criticize the US government but worship Che, who was a child killer who unleashed the worst criminals onto normal citizens that even native Cubans hate him for
RATM are phonies
RATM fans are a bunch of libtard brainwashed losers who make broad baseless generalizations about people they don't know and believe everything the Clinton News Network tells them.
where do (You) get your news from, o enlightened user? :)
I'm not enlightened, niether is anyone else.
That's an interesting and fair point. And actually, I do remember being an angsty, depressed 14 year old, and relating really strongly to "Thoughtless" by Korn, "Crawling" by Linkin Park, "The Nobodies" by Marilyn Manson, "Aerials" by System of a Down, and "Youth of the Nation" by POD.
theyre rap rock
Are you really this low IQ?
You sure seemed enlightened about the brainwashed libtards. Are you trying to say that you were making broad baseless generalizations about people you don't know?
WOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOO TRIGGERED LIBTARD ALERT
This is straight up boomer posting
Trump 2020, because f**k your feelings, snowflake.
Ben fucking Shapiro
Google him and learn something, kid.
Liked the korn sound back in the day. Always hated the korn lyrics.
You commies need less doses of pot and more doses of Church
MAGA
i still kinda like the korn sound
but jesus those lyrics
woah woah woah WOAH
don't lump system of a down in with those shitty bands
soad is more comparable to ratm because they're both very political
And they are both cringe factories
SOAD, at least classic SOAD, not neo SOAD that tried to be all kinds of things, is basically just Korn music with an Eastern European beat and lyrics that make no sense
>being too stupid to get SOAD
>ok guys see how coal chamber was korn meets goth? let's be korn meets poltical shit
It's easy to see THROUGH
>pleb
RATM
>patrician
The Coup
Nobody wants to learn about homosex
3edgy5me
*blocks your path*
>mental illness and childhood trauma, lashing out against bullies, etc
being 12 is cringe as fuck
RATM could be relatable for the punkrock/DIY/conscious hiphop/cool jazz/whatever fusion/semi-mainstream crowd i guess
right wing cant into music tho
>WOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOO
yikes
>Released 4 albums in the span of 9 years before disbanding
>Had a unique sound that no other band was able to replicate no matter how hard they tried
If they had stuck around during the 00's they might not have been remembered as fondly
>kid
how to spot the underage retard
ikr
cool
>if they had stuck around during the Bush administration they might not have been remembered as fondly
found the zoomer
people would've most likely been sick of them after a while
Best rap rock group coming through
whoever drew that guy fucking sucks at her job
Aged well? Said who. Generic pentatonic riff bullshit.
Take out Zack and they sound pretty close to Helmet, who have aged fairly well.
Because of their guitarist, which is the only reason one should ever listen to RATM.
Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me
Babby's first political band, and I myself loved them when I was like 15. But I like to give them a spin once in a while and they still hold up. They're just good, simple, straight up hard rock.
All their songs sound the same, and they have a real hard on for the D minor key. They're basically Tool in 4/4.
I suppose you're a big fan of Deftones too? They were both shit
>hell yeah dude ratm fucking owns!
I only ever liked them for the weird noises, even their riffs sucked
Never was a fan, I think the best Rap Metal group E.Town Concrete and also the Kino Judgment Night soundtrack which is the Nu-Metal DSOTM in my opinion.
>RATM could be relatable for the punkrock/DIY/conscious hiphop/cool jazz/whatever fusion/semi-mainstream crowd i guess
So Christgaufags?
Ironic that their songs were anti capitalist but I didn't have enough money as kid to buy it
system of a down is fine
it's not great or anything but it's alright
shining path isn't a movement i would support (phillipinian maoists are way better) but calling them a "drug cartel" is pretty ridiculous nonetheless
che shirts are based
it's because the guitarist was very skilled and made a unique sound for the band
is there any good rap-rock or rap-metal out there besides for RATM, anons?
And besides for Limp Bizkit, obviously. The best band.
they weren't rap or metal. it was rock with a spoken word vocalist.
who cares it sounds alright
it has a clear, simple, stripped down production. it sounds far fresher than the rap-rock/nu-metal wave that came several years later.
Not having a white leader singer helps
Actually agree but enough people think they're somehow a class above
i think they're a class above all the other nu-metal bands, but being a class above unlistenable garbage isn't much of a compliment desu
