Lateralus by TOOL was written with changing time signatures in accordance with the Fibonacci Sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 etc.)
Any other musics with interesting structures?

christ people are so autistic about time signatures. i never even notice yet some people listen to tool and freak out about it, it's really weird to me. i write in them all the time without even thinking about it
I think they call it "sacred geometry." Perhaps you should look for other bands aligned with Aleister Crowley and the occult.
Tool is so gay.
That's not how the time signatures in that song work.
>Any other musics with interesting structures?
Get into Stockhausen and stop listening to this pussy shit, faggot.
The time signatures aren’t structured like that, the rhythm of the vocals syllables are
it wasn't the time signatures that followed the fibonacci sequence it was the number of syllables in the lyrics.
FPBP
Pop fans do this. Its normal in literally any other genre.
lmao yes it is dumbass, it's a 9/8>8/8>7
/8, 987 is a number in the sequence
actually play an instrument
>Any other musics with interesting structures
That's kind of vague and subjective. You might as well have just asked 'what are some good songs' and you would get the same answer.
If you want music that's basically time signature porn, try this from Dream Theater

fibonacci was a massive faggot
But an extraordinary musician.
Thats not what OP said though. He's referring to the beats of the lyrics in the verse
Fpbp
it's both
but, like, dude, the fibonacci sequence!
tool is genius, right fellow gamers?
What is this.
My question is: why didn't they write a good song instead?
Tool is for idiots who think they know music because they know what syncopation means. Radiohead too but at least some of their albums are really good.
millenial basedboys who worship Tool are salty that Maynerd fucks groupies like almost every single rock frontman
They did with a 95% success rate
Context.
Eleven by Primus is written in 11/8
And here's the "harem pass" that was
referenced.
Nothing to see here, though.

unless he actually raped someone, i don't really care
basically every major male musical artist is going to have groupies because they literally have hordes of women wanting to suck their dick
I don't know, kind of seems like in his case there was a little more to it, and some of them came to regret it later...
Whoops. Wrong image.
rap song progressing through the time signatures 1/8 -> 2/8 -> 3/8 so on

i genuinely don't understand what the fibonacci sequence has to do with the sound of tool's music
Maynard went "hey, what if I came up with some chant that was phrased so the progression of syllables made the fibonacci sequence, like a haiku except the fibonacci sequence, and then we'll just force music around it whether it sounds good or not" and a steaming pile of shit was born along with the most pretentious marketing gimmick in the history of music.
For one, the melody came before the lyrics, and also the song is objectively good by everyone's standards. Using the term pretentious doesn't apply to tool there, the concept of the song isn't above their level of talent or importance at all. The "gimmick" was found out by sleuthing anyway not promotion
One (1) song was composed using numbers in the Fibonacci sequence. Tool fans act like the band are modern day mozarts for this, and anti-fans act like Tool are pretentious assholes for this.
Stockhausen Klavierstucke IX has durations based on the Fibonacci sequence as well and it's not meme music unlike tool
do a lot of drugs and it all makes sense
ok blair
He absolutely makes meme music how are you such a complete opposite of correct
>Have you serviced your gladiator today?

There is no way to confirm the account of some random reddit user. This is not evidence.
>we have to train men to think rape is as unthinkable as cannibalism
First: that wasn't rape
Second: not gonna happen, being killed and eaten is slightly less troublesome than rape, debate me.
Third: you've been selecting men for a hundred thousand years, this is the product.
>Maynard isn't a virgin
wow, shocker, who would have though a high profile young man has had sex.
have sex.
>be talented dude who lucked out and got signed when basically anything in drop-d was being signed
>get them millions
>get approached by fuckwits day and night
Any time spent with a critter like that is going to be wildly out of balance and entirely his way. I don't blame him for being as sleazy as fuck, he's a 5/10 aesthetically and needs to push pork into as much pussy as he can before his body turns to absolute shit. You think he should be a gentleman then look back when he's 65 and wish he'd fucked a bit more? He's a human, as long as he's not actually enslaving or hurting people shut the fuck up about his being on the make.
pretty much, Danny's tabla teacher probably put him onto that exercise they do where a person says 'anything' and you make the instrument say it. I've seen some amazing shit done with that. Meaning a singer can walk in with his laundry list and you can make a godlike percussion piece to move it along with.
Doing some gay spiritual miracle shit like that seems to be the only way to market music with odd times.
All that statement conveys is that Maynard was insecure and had an immature view of sex. That does not indicate that he would commit an atrocity like rape. I don't believe he is a rapist, but I admit I am a fan of his, and that none of us really know the truth. I don't know.
>implying there isn't a corresponding artist, writer, poet, film maker or musician for every decade ever.
why'd you draw on the screenshot
i've seen some people complain that tool never changes their tuning and am wondering why that's a problem
name 1 (three to five) good band that have inconsistent guitar tone between songs/albums
i somewhat agree with this desu
It's not, limitations like that breed creativity
I think the idea originated with Danny, he's big into numerology. He comes up with a drum pattern in the 9-8-7 time signature sequence because he's a number autist, the band writes music around it. Maynard has to contribute his parts; what's the song about? How does he get past the "blank page"? Danny's already rambling about the Fibonacci sequence, so he starts there and away he went.
He had to come come up with a vocal melody to go over just drums, no chord progression or anything to help, what a pain in the ass. Singing a monotonous rhythm to the Fibonacci sequence would be the easiest solution.
Parabola is in some weird Bb thing.
>You think he should be a gentleman then look back when he's 65 and wish he'd fucked a bit more?
Because fuck the memories of his victims, let alone their boyfriends who got to figure out it was cumbreath later on.
No, the lowest two strings are tuned down a perfect fourth from standard. It’s like standard seventh string tuning but on six strings
You know there's ultra-feminists who declared that after in-vitro fertilization was possible, all sex is rape?
>victims
yeah nah
yeah, there's a lot of brats that screw their faces up at tool, but if you were handed the music from Lateralus and asked to put lyrics to it, how would it sound? MJK is pretty good with melody, we're mostly just spoiled little shits.
Actually it's a crazy disjointed mess, and the part where he starts singing lasciviously about "witness the beauuuutttyyy" and whatever makes me wish I had retractable ears.
This should be the real TOOL thread because it has a prettier OP image.
Yeah he didn't even invent the sequence named after him
This. The more permanent brain-damage you have the better Tool gets.
The first two verses are 5/4 the whole way through you mong
