Queen is shit music for people with shit taste/normies.

fucking le contrarian

queen are still fantastic no matter how many normies like them

BRRAAAAAAAPPPP

Right
Wrong

Queen is for
>wrong generation twerps
>normies
>soccer moms

i hope you die of aids too

Meh, Queen has an annoying fanbase and a mass appeal that extends far beyond just rock fans

However, ask any old school metal band what they think of Queen and they will tell you they loved it or they were an influence. Edgelords just try too hard to be different.

And no I'm not a big Queen fan either, I had their greatest hits and that's enough for me.

what i learned in the queen documentary is that freddy took the whole band from the comfy studio in the UK to fucking berlin i think, to some gelid underground studio where they produced only awful music, just because he wanted to be part of the ass fisting german community of pozzed holes. sort of based, but still, what a narcisistic cunt.

Typical Queen autist folks

Queen are the Andre Rieu of pop music.
Schlocky bullshit that the masses think is high art.

Queen made a lot good music for almost 3 decades and used only original band members. That puts them in the top 10 easy.

my aunt really enjoyed queen, so i'm obligated to like them because i grew up listening to them.

>these are the people you share a board with

I did nothing but state facts. Queen are well respected in the rock/metal world by pretty much any relevant artist, but let me guess...you like "alternative" music? Puke.

you gonna rip on my auntie like that, i'll fucking tear your balls off and shove them down your eyesockets you fat fucking scum. dipshit retard cock sucking smegma gurgling nigger.

Night At The Opera is at least an 8/10.

I remember when I was contrarian about Queen.

extremely correct
fuck freddie and fuck his faggy band he got what queers deserve

>dude, bohemian rhapsody is so fucking epic!
>why aren't you singing along bro?
you are a plebeian

cringe

That doesn't make sense though. Queen is rock for people who only listen to rock and nothing else.

>He never drunkenly sang Bohemian Rhapsody with everyone else at a party

Cringe and have sex pilled

The albums are shit because Roger Taylor writes horrible songs. Radio Gaga is his only good hit and the chorus lyrics nearly ruin it. Brian May is also mediocre at songwriting but he has a better track record. Deacon and Mercury were the best writers IMO.

I think that Queen is overrated today. They have made some amazing songs, and it makes sense that they were big when they were. But the overblown critical reception they have today is undeserved. Let's be honest, their most artistically relevant piece is Bohemian Rhapsody. All their other singles are great, but they just have great instrumentation, production, and songwriting. They don't have something groundbreaking that puts them ahead of the pack. But, Bohemian Rhapsody has two big things: Progressive song structure, and intricate vocal harmonies. While these things are great, it seems like Babby's first song with advanced elements. The rest is just pretty typical 80s pop rock. Queen as usual nails that sound, but from the perspective of today that on it's own isn't that special. I'd definitely say it's a great song for the elements stated before. But they didn't do anything better than they've been done before. They just put those elements in a style that was relevant. That itself is worthy of praise, but once you take the era tinted glasses off, it loses some points. We aren't in the 80s, so we can now judge the style by objectivity rather than if it was just the flavor of the decade. A great song, but not as great as the normie/ reddit circlejerk insinuates.

what's up today with all these Queen threads?

based family defender

they were pop hard rock, it appeals to everyone

Well, basically,
> OP made this thread
> everyone started to argue
> some people made more threads that were intended to mock the people that disagreed with them in this thread
That’s about it.

also, it really isn't an overstatement to say that not only was Mercury an exceptionally talented vocalist, with a wide range and a powerful, versatile voice, but also an exceedingly impressive front man with a charismatic stage presence

checked and based also BTFO'd snowflakes.

Yeah, that too. I personally think his voice itself is better on some of their other songs. Another one bites the dust or killer queen comes to mind. Like I said, great but not quite as great as some think.

A Night At the Opera is an excellent album.
Part of me is surprised by the hate that Queen gets on this board because they definitely have a couple great albums and tons of awesome singles.
However, part of me is not surprised because they are popular, which Yea Forums hates, and their singer was gay, which Yea Forums hates. I'm sure there are people out there that legitimately don't like their music, and that's totally fine, but it seems like a large majority of the criticism on here refers to one or both of the two points I mentioned or merely say it's "shit".
I think it's funny to think about how many threads there are about "separating the music/fan base from the musician" on here in contrast to the criticism that Queen gets.
All that said, Queen isn't the best band ever, but they are definitely catchy and listenable.
I would honestly like to discuss the pros and cons of their music with someone but I fear it would devolve very quickly.
Thoughts?

Queen has a couple things going for them.

The first third of the albums has some great rock; the second third of the albums has some great pop; and the last third of the albums has some great production.

They're a different band live than in the studio; Hot Space is garbage on disc but great at the Hollywood Bowl. At the same time, they've got stuff like the back half of Queen II that you can barely do live and is great on disc, so it's not just that they're safe in the studio.

Within rock, you can argue Freddy as a top 10 singer/songwriter pretty easily, but all four members can be argued in the top 25 instrument / singer / songwriter combos. There's better bassists, but not many that wrote as well. Same for drummers and guitarists doing extra duty as singer/songwriters. Yngvie ain't exactly known for his lyrics.

The result of that is solid variety of decent singles across the career. While you can argue about the quality of each individually, for the variety of music to be in one place and of above-average quality across the board, there's just not a ton of similar one-stop-shop bands.

One of the best greatest hits bands ever. That's about it.

Oh right

Queen is a great band that appeals to everybody, including Rock and non-Rock fans. They're like Curtis as in the fact that nobody could hate them.

that's what makes them so hot, aaaaaaaaaaaah

>One of the best greatest hits bands ever
That's not how you spell CCR

Why is Superfly so hyped and overrated? Sure, it's damn great, but it pales in comparison to Curtis, Roots and There's no Place like America Today.

Is Keijo really "Anime for non anime fans"?
