I only heard one song and it sounded like some random low quality bunk off some fags soundcloud, so im going to assume the only reason anyone cares about this garbage is because theyre trannies and one has a ginormous dick he posts on the internet for money.

one of them has a really big ****

i had the same impression after one song but i decided to give it a chance and i found it very authentic and emotional, relatable not only for trans but for anyone who ever felt like they didnt fit in

if you go to any town on this earth and go to a local punk show you will realize just how dead the genre is

>Shredding
>Rock n roll
>Theory
>Prog

The whole concept goes against itself at this point. By now, punk is "classic rock" for many people, and it just feels forced. It probably felt forced by the late 70s/early 80s too, hence people expanding the genre in ways like noise and post-hardcore

things were started to die down for the genre after 1985 when stuff got harder and more brutal. regardless, id still love to experience hardcore american punk in the early 80s because a lot of people just used it as an excuse to go to shows and beat up people. the genre was a more "you had to be there" type of thing.

actually punk is alive and well it's called being alt-right, snowlfakes
MAGA

That kind of atmosphere is what killed hardcore. No Wave started in 76/77 as a reaction against punk, I'd say it was pretty brutal, and was also the roots of a lot of art punk and noise rock. I mean fucking Sonic Youth came out of that scene and they're arguably the most influential alternative band since TVU

I think in terms of stuff sounding more stereotypical punk, it's why hardcore punk is what dominates in all local scenes. No other genre of music to this day has shows an intense and lively as hardcore punk; and despite sonic innovations in a variety of other genres they have been unable to match this even with heavier, more abrasive music.

How does this stat actually affect an individual other than allow them to evaluate their life? Like same with black people, it doesnt re-enforce this statistic logically.

Thats true. the news had a big part to play in killing the genre, as it would talk about how dangerous it is which made more people want to get involved. the bubble got so big it just popped and everything collapsed on itsself. there was also way more experimental and more brutal stuff in full swing, so it wasnt even the hardest thing around. ian mackaye was expression his growing distaste for the genre sooner than most people should have

Evaluating your life is a good thing

>No other genre of music to this day has shows an intense and lively as hardcore punk

they use to be great for their pits and stuff but its really not like that anymore. even the energy of the genre has died in the stage setting. noone is excited about it as they use to be

True, the hardcore sound is all that's left, it's what regular people who aren't even into music think of when they think of punk. I suppose the energy is the draw, and since every record sounds like a rehash and is either digitally recorded, neutering the sound, or recorded in a garbage bag, it's only worth hearing live, but few bands have good energy these days in my experience.
This too. Punk, even hardcore, is trendy these days. There's nothing explicitly wrong with that, but obviously it waters the scene down.

And can we talk about how based Mackaye is?
>Perfects hardcore in under 50 songs
>Accidentally starts the straight-edge subculture (which itself is lame, but Mackayes idea was great)
>Realizes there's no future in the genre and the community is becoming stagnant, violent, and antithetical to his values
>Accidentally plants the seed for emo music on his path to inventing post-hardcore music
>Does this all completely independently, never sells out, none of his bands overstay their welcome
>Didn't turn into a fat caricature of himself like Jello, Johnny Rotten, and countless other punk icons

This is untrue as I have been in many a wild pits when I was still frequenting shows. Unfortunately fights sometimes started, too. People ganging up, knifes/guns coming out. Sure one of the more official venues banned stage diving after some time, but the moshing and hardcore dancing still presided.
I think getting that live hardcore sound on a record's very tough. Honestly even the classic records sound comparatively neutered because of this.

>Honestly even the classic records sound comparatively neutered because of this.
True. The Sex Pistols obviously had a reputation for insane shows, same with the Ramones, but both sound very tame on record by today's standard

For sure the best thing to happen to punk was the DC scene. even the true punk bands around that area were a lot better then what was going on in cali. Void and Faith being examples (although i think they were next to DC).

remember when black flag tried to be artsy? that was a laugh. everyone likes my war except for me.
consider yourself lucky then, i also use to be a frequent gower. and it got really boring really fast. you cant compare modern pits to 80s pits unless its a limp bizkit concert or something which would be fucking dope

Are you saying My War is artsy? Because I'd say it's the exact opposite. Its lyrics are adolescent angry rants with stupidly simple rhymes. The greatness of the record comes from the impassioned and intense instrumentals and Rollins completely unrestrained vocals. Family Man is much more "artsy" if you wanna put it that way. Also I don't know why being artistic in an artistic medium would be a bad thing.

my war isnt really an artsy album but henrys want and desire to take the band in a more artsy direction is what killed it. Damaged in a fantastic album. My War is too slow, boring, uneventful, goes nowhere, and the tracks are longer than they should be. the instrumentation is far from intense, especially by todays standards

It was Ginn who wanted to take it in an artsier direction, and since I'm a pleb I haven't gone far enough into their catalogue to say at what point it killed it, but that's the reputation. I used to think the same of My War, but unfortunately I find it incredibly relatable. The impotent rage, isolation and alcoholism hit home. I've felt the exact same way as the lyrics on that album depict. I think any album with unrestrained self expression that really conveys an experience is good by that merit alone regardless of content. That's why I like My War

Imagine this intelligent of conversation coming out of a tranny album thread

Don't hate tranny punk for being tranny, they're just people. Hate it for being bad, and made by people who are bad at music.

but this album is good

GLOSS has some cool raw riffs sometimes though. The d-beat feel definitely brought kinda metal type catchy riffs.
It's not really typical of punk based music at all, by the slow tracks on My War were definitely going for that sluggish, brutal, hopelessly beatdown feel of stuff like early Swans, Godflesh, and later stuff that probably cites My War as an influence like sludge metal. The slowness and repetition is a big part of what makes the heavy and hopeless feel.

did u lisn to blakc dresses

I actually didn't listen to this album, I was basing my opinion on G.L.O.S.S.
G.L.OS.S. sucks
But you're right about My War

Yeah, love it. Though it's unrelated to my enjoyment of punk, more so my enjoyment of electronic, dance, industrial, and ambient type musics which I listen to more than punk these days.
Sucks for you my dudes. There's something warm and comfy about GLOSS' studio tone, works great with the catchy riffs imo.

ill give it another shot, it definitely was one of those albums that helped depict modern life at that time, i do give it respect im just more of a classichead when it comes to punk

all those other bands you mentioned did the style way better imo. there was way more punch to it, when i listen to a style like that i wanna be punched in the face. maybe ive been listening to to much noisecore

But My War has thicker textures than those groups do while Swans in the early days was almost all percussive sounds and Godflesh had those electronic drums both of which lead to punchier bits.

swans just felt way meaner and grosser and those metallic drums really dug into you if you were in the mood. My War just felt like more fleshed out/slower punk. i still do like the title track though. ill stop hating because ill probably change my opinion some day

>when your record is such worthless dogshit you have to shill it as being part of a 40 year old counter culture that has no relevance at all anymore

Fair enough, My War leans more towards metal instrumentation than punk. I don't know about you but I hate metal and metal inspired things, My War being a rare exception. You're right what you said here about Swans though. Filth and Cop are 1000x heavier than My War, and have amazing lyrics that don't need apologism or context to justify. Nothing touches early Swans.

you're right, it's not
youtube.com/watch?v=gUWx5dwjVu8

it's not really punk though, except for the screamo screaming

great album, still
