Unsainted is catchy as fuck.

Slipknot have managed to slowly, but really consistantly become less and less likable over the last ten years.

Honestly Slipknot is more of a business or a brand now than an actual band. Same goes for Periphery, but that's a different kettle of fish, at least they seem to have some integrity.

Ten years ago I wanted Mick, the guitarist to go his own way and start doing some death metal, but I havent heard a single thing guitar wise since then that has even sparked a little interest in me.

they are supposed to be saving money with the DIY efforts of clown. its easy to think that everything is definitely not cut equal. especially since going back since before the bands inception clown was known for being shady. alot of this stuff was already happening but yea since AHIG its gone way downhill.

doubt that they just released a mega hit.

The riffs are all so bland now and this album was a slog to get through. I had to force myself to finish it. I'm not a fan of Jay's drumming either

I used to be a pretty die hard fan, AHIG was the first album I waited for release and ran to town to buy with my own money, I'd have been 13 lol. I don't even know if Ill listen to the new album, the band is just so unlikable these days and honestly the singles disgusted me.

Idk how you can even remember everything after 1 listen. 2nd and 3rd listens give me those "oh this song sucked, or, oh this song was great" moments that help back my opinion.

They thrive because any metalhead in the world will go to their highly energetic concerts which are always sold out, regardless if they listen to the band at home.

I don't really see what people hear in spiders. it just doesnt do it for me and I tried a couple extra times

It's frustrating because Clown is one of my lease favorite people in the music industry, but his drum work is genuinely iconic in the Slipknot sound, the percussive heavy production is their thing, no one else really sounds like slipknot in that regard, he's probably a big key to their success.

Spiders just adds to the experimental portion of the album. I liked it a lot, especially the funky shredding half way through.

Doesn’t excuse the song from being ass. Try tracks like tattered & torn or Iowa for experimental tracks that don’t suck

Those two songs are completely different, Spiders is them outright going into an Industrial Rock and doing it pretty damn well.

First of all, no it’s not. It’s not the worst thing ever but certainly not a good track. Second, I never mentioned spiders. I said my pain is the worst track of their career

Well thats the great thing about music, its open for interpretation. My thoughts, feelings, so far, seem to not hate My Pain and in this moment id rather hear it than some of the other songs on this album.

My Pain is one of those songs that I'd listen to half-asleep in bed, or on an overseas flight, not even paying attention, but still enjoying it. Am I making any sense with that one?

It's a very simple track. Relax and just let it take you over, don't go in with the wrong perception.

I think Jay was a decent replacement for Joey but 2 things that bother me about the drumming is he's always trying to do really fast snare fills and the Zildjian A Custom crashes he's using in every song sound too bright, i just find it annoying on the ears

My point was that Jay Weinberg is a superior drummer.

In short, Jay can (and does) play everything Joey wrote, but Joey couldn’t play everything Jay has written (even at his prime, before the health issues)

If you like Jay, that's truly good for you. I think Joey's writing is far better than anything Jay's done for the band. Joey really shines in Vol. 3 (The Nameless or Danger Keep Away-Extended are good examples).
I find Jay all over the place, really ADHD style (not in a good way). It's interesting but also hard to watch his drum cam videos on YouTube, he's all over the place but it doesn't seem to fit..
Not trying to shit on you, I just think Joey's the better drummer.
On a personal note, I really dislike the Zildjian cymbals Jay uses, I don't think they fit well in the songs
