It's mediocre. I can totally see why a lot of people were dissapointed when this came after Oracular Spectacular. It's filled with bland material, only Congratulations, Someone's Missing and I Found a Whistle were standout tracks to my ears,
no its one of the best albums of the decade you're wrong
Juan Hernandez
yeah it's mediocre but still way better than fucking lonerism lmao
Christian Foster
And with that one last sentence, you removed any sort of credibility with any opinion you have in music.
Bentley Gonzalez
Why does Yea Forums hate lonerism all of a sudden?
Dylan White
>Someone's Missing and I Found a Whistle lmao what? the most lazy songs
Isaiah Thompson
>Flash Delirium >Siberian Breaks >Song for Dan Treacy >Brian Eno >Mediocre Literally the only track on this album that is inconsequential is Lady Dada's Nightmare, and it's still a good track.
Christopher Green
bait
Matthew Robinson
Song for Dan Treacy is so addictive. I had ignored mgmt for years but I clicked on that song in a thread a couple weeks ago and have been enjoying all of their albums since.
Wyatt Clark
Why do Tame Impala fags seethe so hard with MGMT? Kevin will never reach the best compositions or pyschedelic masterpieces that they created. I.e Siberian Breaks/Alien Days Tame impala is just a low rate Brittany Spears doing a Supertramp larp.
Bentley Watson
Yea Forums has always hated lame impala, redditor
Nathaniel White
absolutely untrue. you must have gotten here 2015 or later
Ayden Turner
before lonerism came out innerspeaker was practically a joke album like dive by tycho or that one backpambient album with the two people holding hands. lonerism was shilled for like two weeks before people started unanimously shitting on it and posting the "best band in the world right now" pasta. anyone who legitimately praised it was laughed at you're either a newfriend pretending to be old or you have an extremely selective memory
Nolan Martinez
Lonerism is cringe and so is this, but Siberian Breaks is better than anything Lame Auntpaula ever did
Cooper Nguyen
I love MGMT, Little Dark Age and I like Oracular Spectacular too but this album doesn't do it for me.
Julian Hill
>mfw haven't listened since 2010 but relistened to siberian breaks just now and it's still SOTD
Oracular Spectacular was a true summer anthem, can't really top that
Aiden Barnes
>in the long hall >pipes are whispering I love the build up on someone’s missing one of my favourite songs
Isaiah Hernandez
MGMT's best songs are almost always the simplest ones
Jace Howard
Congratulations is a winter anthem
Brayden Bell
Oracular Spectacular has some great songs but its also chock full of duds. MPP has it beat, especially as a summer album
Kevin Clark
Which songs are duds for you
Brody Williams
the second part of Siberian Breaks is nice but it doesn't finish well imo
Bentley Rogers
I'm pretty sure absolutely none of MGMT's songs have been 'duds'. All of their albums are 100% good.
Dominic Robinson
Someone's Missing is amazing (though you're not actually saying it's bad). I love the crecendo and finale. Simple but effective
Logan Nelson
Congratulations is the fame hang over anthem
Cameron Reed
I don't get why they are compared so much. MGMT are trying to be The Flaming Lips while Tame Impala is just trying to be classic psych rock. I can't think of an MGMT song that sounds like this:
Siberian Breaks is fantastic but it feels too disjointed. The transition feels like a track change to a different song rather than an extension.
Oliver Sanchez
Inclined to agree. I think they were going for "this will be our Bohemian Rhapsody multi-act ballad" but it's just not that cohesive
Cooper Hughes
Tame Impala was liked for two weeks then hated immediately after
Leo Mitchell
Have you listened to Metanoia? It’s like the heavier more operatic proto Siberian Breaks and I say flows more well than SB but I still love SB more.Im a bit biased because its my favorite song ever. youtu.be/cNFMlGIqlTg
Tyler Baker
MGMT just has a sense of humor and don’t take things so seriously with their music For more classic pysch rock look to youtu.be/2X6XFIckiA4 youtu.be/-EzO66L2dnU or
Michael Nelson
I'll check it out, relistening to Siberian Breaks Now. There's a lot of good ideas, but I think like 3 minutes or so should have been cut- especially the waltz-y 3/4 part from near the 2 minute mark to about halfway. It does finish very pleasantly actually.
Generally I agree with that my favorite songs by them are the more straightforward pop-tinged singles like "Time to Pretend" and "Congratulations", and I personally prefer Oracular Spectacular.
My one Based Bassist friend along with another have a cult-like obsession with this album like many people in this thread have, but I guess I never felt it like I have for something like, say, Emperor Tomato Ketchup. I also noticed they had a particularly strong attachment to it because it's one of those "check this cool shit out" albums their older brothers showed them.
Only faggots were disappointed by this. Oracular spectacular was shit and congratulations improved their music in every conceivable way. Oracular spectacular was generic indie pop shit
Luke Parker
Time to Pretend is the greatest pop song of the 2000s. It perfectly encapsulates the millennial generation.
