Grateful Dead tribute/hippie festivals are pretty cool. There’s a bunch of them in the Midwest. A lot of people go just to pretend to be hippies for a weekend or relive their glory days, and all the younger people (18-25) are taken by their parents for the “experience” but it kind of ends up like a family reunion where all the kids just hang out together and stay up all night doing a bunch of drugs. The venue becomes sort of a hippie village and everyone has something to sell to you, whether that be drugs, art, coffee, food, massage, voodoo magic, whatever. You know it’s all kind of bullshit but it’s fun to pretend.
Everyone is on psychedelics and/or blacked out the entire time. I’ve met doctors, engineers, and lawyers who come just to get it all out of their system for one weekend.
