Where does he get this notion that metal and prog are bad because they're luddite throwbacks to the 19th century symphonic tradition that rock was supposed to defeat?
Like, somehow I don't get where you put on Pantera and hear Brahms in there. And since when was rock supposed to "defeat" anything? It started originally in the 50s with just some kids who wanted to have a good time.
Because hes a pseudointellectual tard who cares way more about image and politics than actual musical content.

Because it was about bombast and showing off skills through solos and having themes about religion and myth and other things he deems pretentious, not just boogie woogieng down and showing that you're a jive boppin wild brotha
Ironically, he hates Elvis
Christopher Wood
The McGarrigle Sisters (whom he jerks off) were far more pretentious and neo-19th century parlor music than any metal band.

Well, heavy metal did have elements of classical music as it got rid of the blue base it began on
Yeah and plenty of bands deemed heavy metal in the 70's didn't follow in the footsteps of Zeppelin and Sabbath of being dark and mystical, but he still hated the solos and "peacocking" because it threatened his own feeble sense of masculinity for the most part. The bands he tended to be kinder to were more "rocky rolly" like KISS and VH who obviously were a little more lighthearted.
