The Bohm Ring
Read the libretto as you listen. Read Performing the Ring. Go to /classical/ and ask the based Wagnerchads for analysis. Shit and cum
kys Stormcuck
go make a twitter account with a marble statue profile pic and whine and about civilization collapsing
I don't think any of those would inherently get him into Wagner
>Hitler decries 20th century modernism and what it did to music and the arts
>jerks off a composer who was the epitome of 19th century modernism
^This. Fuck off, OP.
parsifal overture
I'm stunned that the comment section is free of /pol/ shitflinging.
>socialist Romantic composer expresses anti-semitic views common for his time
>gets cast as fascist music even though the majority of his fans then and now hold no racist or anti-semitic views
start with Tristan and Iseult, reading a translation of the libretto along with it and taking a break in between acts if needed
I mean, the Nazis also co-opted Nietszche even though he despised nationalism and anti-Semitism and his philosophy promoted an extreme form of individuality that went much against the collectivist, totalitarian Nazi world view.
Nazis were dumb wtf?
No surprise.
Siegfried was Wagner's avatar as the revolutionary martyr who dies to destroy the gods, or, really the old order of Europe. He'd also participated in the 1848 revolutions and was exiled for it.
I mean, fuck, Marx had many nasty things to say about Jews.
He also said he didn't want any new music from composers, Wagner was the summit of musical achievement and there was no further place to go from there.
don't you have a Skrewdriver thread to be posting in?
Wagner is the end game of music like Schoenberg, it is only with an understanding of sacred, secular, baroque, classical, and romantic music that you can understand gesamtkunstwerk. While you can appreciate his work for purely aesthetic reasons like Neitzsche, much is lost without understanding how Wagner deviated from the great masters.
>socialist
Wagner was blatantly an anarchist given his friendship and influence of Bakunin.
I mean, that and the fucking Ring. The biggest anarchist manifesto in all of art pretty much
The lone hero who overcomes evil and oppression is a trope as old as Western civilization.
But Siegfried doesn't overcome evil or destroy the gods, he fucking fails. Brunnhilde had to do it herself because Siegfried was too pure and naive to our social civilization and was easily tricked by Hagen.
There was a time when everyone had nasty things to say about everyone. It was part of life and you didnt expect to be paid because your feelings got hurt. Your just accepted that words only have the power over you that you granted them. And you possessed a fucking spine.
