Hardcore punk is the whitest genre fucking ever maybe? With some members here and there of color but again it's absurd to try to credit punk and hardcore punk to black communities.

Like all those original punk bands were somehow these particularly privileged white men is also just historically inaccurate. The Sex Pistols were poor as fuck living in post war Britain with little food or money their whole lives. They were disenfranchised and wrote music that was a response to those feelings. They invented the blues, jazz, funk, and hip hop so you have to give that to them.

my guess is that they are insecure about the fact that black people contributed almost nothing to science or civilization, so they pick the field they've made the most impact (music) and try to completely own it by finding even just a single branch that has a black person in it. look at the band Death for example. they released two tracks that are arguably less punk than The Stooges or The New York Dolls about 6 years after the stooges or new york dolls (and literally the same year the Sex Pistols released anarchy in the UK) but because of that one band "black people fuggin invented punk"
