no way that's the coverlol

Toot?

I don’t think the font goes with the artwork at all

This is the same band that gave us this cover

Attached: 3520-Tool-Lateralus.jpg (1000x870, 135K)

Holy shit is that seriously the album art?

at least that sort of fit in with the time period it was released

Yes
twitter.com/Tool/status/1158409126734487553

Tool covers have always been shit

i cant believe how shitty this cover is

Lateralus > 10K > Untertow > Aenima
don't @ me

>10k
>above anything
its bollocks

goob

>Maynard's best vocal performance
>more accessible but still complex as ever
>Wings Pts 1+2/Rosetta Stoned/Right in Two are arguably peak Tool
you're bollocks my dude

Its like a teen drama version of tool. Right in two is the cheesiest thing they've ever done

are you retarded? thats a shitty scan of the holographic physical art work of course it looks like shit

Vicarious, Jambi, the Pot? All fucking great

That's a slipcase dummy

Attached: Later alus.jpg (1000x1000, 879K)

Does it bother anyone else the album art is "animated"? Like it seems less official.

I haven't seen a post of a static image that says "This is the album art", just that animation

those eyes look so bad

true, probably the coolest album inserts of the 2000s.

There's probably going to be a static image up within the next couple days, they announced a single and pre-orders would be coming then.

Is Yea Forums hyped for this album? I know I am.

Definitely.

Imo no Tool album is consistenly great, but all of them have at least some fantastic tracks.

Get ready fuckers, this will be AOTY no matter what.

HOLY SHIT IT MOVES

Hell yeah

I thought Undertow and Aenima had good covers but then I'm a fan of minimalist designed sleeves.

Their best album after Aenima.

As a vocalist Maynard peaked with Aenima but otherwise you're right. Don't forget the one-two punch of Vicarious and Jambi either.

I really like the font. has a Metropolis feel to it. but I dont think that's the actual cover art.

>13 years for this
OH NONONONONONONONONONONO

>excited Tool is finally on Spotify
>remember I only like 2 songs

the only band to come back and not dissapoint is MBV. all the rest really suck hard and should stay in their coffins.

Mbv was never good and portishead had a better return than anyone

What is slowdive and portishead...

>85 min
>7 songs
The best Tool songs are the longest ones, but there's no way they can pull it off for a whole album. Most of the songs in 10k Days devolved into insufferable prog wankery by the end.

Failure

One time I was listening to Lateralus in the middle of an acid trip. When I looked at this album cover, it came to life. The whole cover was illuminated and the shadows behind the guy made it look like he was moving
Cool experience/10

I'm sitting here thinking how much my life has changed in the last 13 years and realize I don't really like tool all that much anymore.

>random jams with Maynard singing over them

I watched the lateralus album art come out of the speakers envelope me to the ending of third eye on on a good rip of salvia.

Fun stuff.

It saddens me how they delivered a fantastic comeback with a new modern and unique sound and everyone already forgot about them again. True underdogs.

t. portishead

>portishead had a better return than anyone
yeah plagiarizing the silver apples is a super comeback.

this t b h

used to be obsessed with them
doesn't help that they sold out to the zoomers on spotify

Ah yes, Silver Apple, the infamous deppressive industrial trip-hop band with sad female falsetto vocals.

hope its good

>everyone already forgot about them again.
I'm part of the problem; I still haven't picked up the new one :/

how do I learn to like Tool and how do I get excited for this?

>13 years to design THIS

well it literally looks designed in the early 2000s.

it's obviously why it took so long

or they just, you know, got with the times like everybody else. even king crimson's on everything now

The image is fine, standard Tool affair.
Typography is fucking abysmal and I hope it's not on the final cover.

the fact that they took this long is anti-sellout
nobody buys physical media anymore so their music would die out if only available second hand and torrenting.

this. plus, the entire point of putting music on streaming platforms is to curb piracy a little bit. most people don't see the need to torrent/download music when they can get almost anything they want for a few bucks a month, especially when they can save some hard drive space for movies or whatever else. not everybody, and obviously most people on here probably still download stuff, but it still has significantly decreased the general ubiquity of music piracy

Wrong it's this

Attached: a0906381525_10.jpg (1200x1200, 402K)

Actually quite dig this

It's not animated it's an optical illusion you retard

it's ok. i was hoping for some new alex grey dopeness. but i suppose there's always the gatefold/booklet

it's funny cause you're wrong

cool

ATTENTION

THIS IS NOT THE FINAL COVER ART, ONLY A SMALL PIECE OF THE ENTIRE IMAGE.

bad as yours babe

>more spiral shit

jesus christ maynard give it a rest with the spirals

lol. first time I've seen that album mentioned on here. I enjoyed it quite a bit too, except for that stupid closing track.

I agree. Since lateralus, I've kinda lost track. 10k days was "meh" to my earsbrains.
Maybe fear inoculum will be better.
Lateralus it's kinda tricky top IMHO.
And yes, I'm an old fart. I remember searching in stores for undertow, and 56kmodems.

Its obviously TooA

Tool is a gateway band of the worst kind. It's bad metal, a clusterfuck of wacky time signatures and cheesy lyrics that aren't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessively long songs and DEEPNESS. The normal user can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the band itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. Maynard trying his hardest to look cool, the Bill Hicks aping, the posing in shadows and the armchair understanding of philosophy fuels their pretentious fantasies, while the droney riffs and bass lines, emphasis on not playing at the same time signature, and overall pretentiousness of the music makes it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Tool is basically THE band to attract the most hated musical fanbase known to Yea Forums, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every user to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Tool threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

Attached: dannymanic_mjk.jpg (200x218, 18K)

Listen to Schism and Vicarious like a normal person?

that's alex grey's doing, and really it's cause he does too much dmt all the time

I've never liked that album art

Thanks for the fresh pasta though.

nice weeb pasta. you fucked up cause you kept 'this show' at the end there

>fresh
shit's at least 5 or 6 years old

how bout jackin' it on acid and all you can see is the cover of this album in your mind's eye and think about oprah... fat oprah, not even the one that was skinny for a few months in the 80's

Attached: Oprah.jpg (220x220, 32K)

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE ALBUM LEAK

The title track is being released on Wednesday

I like the cover art

And also im sure there is some gimmick to the artwork on the actual album, much like Lateralus and 10000 Days did.

>I like the cover art
It looks like something from the early 90s

Shit, didn't notice. Thanks.

There's always room for variants

Looks like Alex Grey wants too much money for his paintings now, so Adam threw something together.

That's the wrapper for the cover. The real art is under it. They spent a fuck ton of money on it, too.

>Being angry enough to pound this into your keyboard
>Being lame enough to copypasta it

Slowdive's new release fucking sucked

It's already copypasta. Proof that people who like Tool are newfags

And? You can say it looks like shit, saying it looks like something from the early 90s doesn't make much sense as criticism

This is my favorite Tool album cover since Aenima

same i love it

For everyone saying the cover is shit the case has LEDs and batteries in it the case is literally gonna have an animated cover and it'll be dope af

sauce?

The Heart is A Monster is excellent, I picked up my copy, but I wasn't too fond of their softer/somewhat Beatlesque sound on the one from last year.

If there isn't a song lyrically like Hooker With A Penis where Maynard just shits on Tool fans for pissing him off for years with "WHEN'S THE NEW TOOL ALBUM BROOO" I'm gonna be disappointed.

fear a lotta cum

>all the rest really suck hard and should stay in their coffins.
Infinitely true about Sleater-Kinney, their first rebirth record was a step down, but yikes their newest is awful.

i think just Inoculum wouldve been a better album name

I lurk on r/Toolband and have for months let me find the posts but the battery quote was from a guy who saw Danny at Maynard's restaurant talking to a waitress speaking about how "they didn't want to be another Samsung" and how they were trying "figure out batteries in packaging"

>Maynard just shits on Tool fans
why shit on the very people that puts the food in your table?

Also when they posted the cover it was animated

all of their covers are animated on twitter

If it's done in a humorous way like Hooker With A Penis then why not? It'd be pretty amusing.

No they have music they aren't animated.

if I didn't know anything about tool, i would think this was a djent record

Apparently a single is being released Wednesday?

Yes sadly. But I'm sure they'll have more after the initial wave of pre-orders

This is WAY better. No comparison.

Because they still listen and buy hes stuff despite whatever he does

I should start a trve kvlt xtreme black metal band and just blow a load onto paper then using it as a J-card and it still would be a better cover.

Agreed, fits better since all their albums except 10kd are one word only

since when is tyler the creator a band

That font looks fucking terrible though

is it seriously called fear inoculum?

this album is going to suck

Alex Grey has hinted that this is only part of the new cover

Seeing alot of love as well as misunderstanding for TOOL. Kinda weird to see people speak up about my favorite band for once. I feel like in order to understand TOOL you really have to be open... idk, emotionally lol. Which I think alot of people have a hard time doing anyways. It blows my mind to know there's people out there that don't like OR love them, cause they really are such a touching, artistic, emotional, dynamic experience. Seriously some of the most beautiful music and lyrics ever. If you haven't truly listened to tool and what Maynard speaks about on Lateralus and 10,000 days through his poetry, I promise you're missing out. He speaks about what REALLY matters in life in general as well as his personal life which are relatable. Those lyrics truly helped me come to peace and understanding my own questions and frustrations about life at a pretty early age... I guess you can say I've always questioned life and always have tried to stay grounded as possible. Tool truly spoke to me, cause these are the things Maynard speaks about on Lateralus. The things that truly matter.. no bullshit poetry. Not to mention Adam Jones has literally the most badass rig and tone ever. Go listen to Jambi or live videos of "the grudge" from 2001. CRAZY guitar tone. That is all. (I'll probably continuing editing this as I don't often get to fully express the reasons why tool are great in one go.)

i've always loved tool but it's pretty easy to understand why they're not for everybody. their production style isn't exactly everybody's cup of tea

Tool was my favorite band as a teenager and i kind of forgot about them. Now with their catalogue on streaming i realized how fucking pretentious they are and honestly, MJK's lyrics tend to be very obnoxious.

But i can't help but love them. I have a weakness for bands that wank sludgy riffs and no one does it like Tool.

I love how bass oriented the band is too.

But i'm feeling bad for listening to them cause some of the lyrics feel downright cringy to me at this point. But i just can't stop listening for nostalgia reasons.

Is MJK the worst thing about this band? What is the patrician alternative for Tool, Yea Forums?

Attached: 1547868399834.gif (267x320, 452K)

you could just try getting over yourself and enjoying the lyrics for what they are?

DOWNWARD SPIRAL

Attached: D00426B4-73D1-438A-81F3-3D1C996537ED.jpg (1280x720, 71K)

Tool is easily one of the most consistent metal bands of all time, with one of the most tight discographies ever made
There is not a bad song on Undertow. There is not a bad song on AEnima. There is not a bad song on Lateralus. There is not a bad song on 10,000 Days.
There are songs that are worse than others - The psychedelic ambient passes all aren't very good but I don't count them among the actual songs of Tool, I count them as a kind of addition to the full album experience, as in they're not something you sit down and listen to, but parts of an album that make a more cohesive experience.
Say what you want about them - The lyrics can be edgy or pretentious, but certainly not as bad as many of Tool's contemporaries. They have an above average vocabulary and genuinely do seem to put effort into those things.
It's just very tightly written, well crafted, well executed with entirely very talented band members, making accessible Prog Metal and Thrash.
Sure, the fanbase often acts like Tool is some kind of massive, life changing psychadelic supergroup where "You just have to smoke weed/do psychadelics while you listen, bro... Like, fibonacci and spirals n shit dog...", but if they listen to shit like Ween they can't recognize it as music.
It's not as experimental or progressive as a lot of other bands. That makes it an entry level cool-music for people to think they have some in-depth music knowledge for listening to.
But does the fanbase make the music worse? Does it affect your listening experience? If so, you need to stop being such a dork and just enjoy the music.
Tool's a good band. Can't wait for the album.
