Where do I start with them? Not a metal guy.
Where do I start with them? Not a metal guy
Release order. There's only 4 albums and an EP
Tool greatest hits album deluxe edition
They dont have hat many albums, its not hard, but start with aenema or lateralus, if you want more aenema go for undertow and opiate, if lateralus go for 10000 days, but just give them all a try
What's the difference between Aenema and Lateralus?
One is good and the other is great. But depends on who you ask which one is which
Are people really so lazy now that they have to ask for a flowchart for a band with 4 albums?
>the absolute state of spotify zoomers
>not a metal guy
Then Tool is right up your alley!
don't
this fucking board can't be shut down fast enough
this
Start with Opiate. If you liked it, then listen to Undertow, Aenima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days in that order.
Don't and listen to Karnivool instead
aenima is more 90s grungy and lateralus is proggier but they both have those elements and both are great
shit adivce desu
where do I start with black midi?
In terms of sound, what is the draw to each?
Just listen to it and decide on your own, do you ask people on Yea Forums what type of tissue paper should you buy and why?
>Tool
>Metal
Start with Undertow and go on from there.
t. MetalArchives
start with the Greeks
jk hehehe
listen in release order.
and tell me when you get to Eulogy so I get your initial impression.
Reminder that Maynard James Keenan is an accused rapist and deserves to be lynched. Fuck Tool!
Have your requested (You) for claims literally everyone has already dropped.
>Tool becomes media talking point again
>some drunk cunt decides to LARP being raped
What a time to have been alive.
>using shittify
>Tool
>Metal
jesus, their song writing might be good but something about the production gives me fatigue everytime.
#believewomen
YASSSSS QUEEN RUIN LIVES FOR LIKES
ITS 2019 BIGOT
this has to be b&
truth. Tool isnt metal. And tool sucks.
You don't need to be a metal guy but you do need to be extremely well versed in complex music theory such as time signature changes and harmony otherwise the standard listening will fly right over your head.
This. Listening to a Tool song is more like solving a complex math equation than listening to a song.
In fact you need a pretty high IQ to appreciate it.
best songs:
fortysix and two
the pot
sober
right in two
optional:
prison sex
GOD TIER
Aenima
HIGH TIER
Lateralus
MID TIER
Opiate, Undertow
LOW TIER
10,000 Days
SECRET TIER
Salival just because of the song "Maynard's Dick"
jesus christ no why is everyone digging up tool again
is it because of justin bieber
are you living under a rock? they got their stuff on spotify and have an album coming out
10,000 days- the sad album
lateralus- the trippy album
aenima-the angry album
I'd class them as metal, but very entry-level, clean metal. I put them in a similar bracket to Deftones, System Of A Down and Rage Against The Machine.
Anyway, I'd start with Aemina. After that, it depends what kind of music you like. If you're into typical early 90s hard/alt rock, move onto Undertow. If you're into trippy, proggy type stuff, move onto Lateralus. If you like epic songs with a lot of build ups and climaxes, move onto 10,000 Days.
But either way Aenima is GOAT and you're about to spiral into severe addiction because this band gets you hooked like no one else.
You should start by knowing Tool is not a metal band, you tool
I'm not well versed in those things and I don't care for the 2deep4u lyrics but they're still one of my all time favourite bands. Just four incredibly talented dudes writing music that no one else can replicate.
I've never had to ask anyone where to start with a band. Can someone explain why it might be beneficial to do so
It helps for groups that have been around for decades and have a gigantic discography where they change sounds extremely often but those bands are rare.
This band fucking sucks they sound like Mars Volta and Deftones combined
Release order. And although they can be classified as "metal", I believe they can be best described as heavier progressive rock. Don't be concerned if you don't typically enjoy metal. I'm sure you'll like them, they're a great band.
A lot of you people who hate Tool are awful at describing music. Your comparisons are always so bizarrely inaccurate.
they're the most related artist on spotify lmao
imagine being such a turbopleb normie you have to assemble a team to help you decide "where to start" with a band that has 4 albums.
in the time this thread has been up you could have listened to all of them including their EPs
Start with their 72826 demo like a real OG
And how are those "most related" rankings created? Based on listener's habits, maybe? I listen to both bands and I hardly see any similarities.
just accept tool isnt that good bro
But they are
