It's pretty consistent desu, the only weak track is "Joanni", the suite in disc 2 gets all the praise but disc 1 has some of her most most varied stuff. "Mrs. Bartolozzi" is her darkest song since "breathing", and "Bertie" is not the kind of song you expect from Kate musically

This might sound contrarian but my faves are Lionheart and Never For Ever

Never For Ever is one of her best, and probably her best sounding album, she needs to get someone good to co-produce again and tell Del Palmer to fuck off.
Lionheart...maybe the remasters save it but it makes me feel like an old lady who's into musicals when I listen to it

Yeah, I listened to it earlier today... all the songs have her magic, but 1/3 to half of them just don't work that well. Sat in Your Lap was like a wake up and works, but from that to the Tenner it just plummets. The ones that work do because they manage to be as much art as they are pop: have structure and elements that drive you from the first listening through the world of the story or concept, meaning keeping your attention. And the ones that fail do in the same kind of way: that somehow the pop procedures don't coalesce, so they seem to let me adrift so I have to repeat them to get the lyrics or even get a lyrics sheet cause my senses get lost somwhere different from the lyrics.

*from that to Tennets is a nosedive, and it goes up and down....

A lot of people love it for the experimentation and that's very unique and ahead of It's time. But I have to agree with you, it's not perfect.
TKI and Aerial are just too amazing, so is the NfE/TD/HoL trilogy
