He was the music equivalent of a system quarterback, can perform well as long as he was just following instructions and not having to come up with anything original. If he didn't come out in the early days of MTV then he would be another forgotten performer

If Walter Yetnikloff hadn't threatened to pull all his artists if MJ didn't get airplay.
You fucking kidding? He choreographed his shows from start to finish. The dances were his. And he was a good singer too.
So he was a good dancer and a singer, that makes him a good performer, not a good musician
MJ to my knowledge didn't write his own music, pretty much nobody in pop or RnB ever does
Yeah, his musicianship is in his vocals, which were totally perfect every time he performed.
He did write, he just didn't play any instrument with any competency. There's that demo that's been floating around where he sang all the parts of the song, to get the idea down, for Quincy to replace with musicians.
The dude was in music since he was a little kid, he knew how to make it. He has a LOT of help (Quincy) polishing it, but he knew how to create melody.
I've heard over the years he copied his choreography from anyone he could. He would watch old movies and concerts and such, and rework stuff into his act. That doesn't mean he wasn't talented - he was, but everyone acts like he invented everything from scratch - he didn't. He was like anyone else, he stole, borrowed and bought as much as he could, and then repainted it and called it his own.
Corporate sterile mall music created to sell soda water, no substance to speak of. And he fucked kids and was a piece of shit
that sounds like your opinion foo
