What are some titles that I absolutely NEED to have in stock? I'm talking about the most essential records that any record store should have. Feel free to also include essential music related movies. I'm thinking of carrying shit like The Wall and Magical Mystery Tour on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Rap and Classic rock because thats what will sell the most
Robert Peterson
Depends on who you want to cater towards. Plenty of second hand music stores or record stores have a pretty defined niche. Or you can go broader and just order represses of stuff from Led Zeppelin, Prince and Queen while ordering 2-3 copies of every big indie and hip hop release.
Austin Lopez
people don't uh.... buy albums anymore, man.
Tyler Mitchell
Except they do
Owen Howard
*goes bankrupt in 3 months*
Gabriel Gonzalez
The entire Skinny Puppy discography
Jaxson Price
what state are you in, OP? i'm willing to work for you for cheap. you need a lot of the obvious staples like Pink Floyd, Beatles, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, Beach Boys, David Bowie and if you're near a college campus you could consider stocking slightly hipper stuff like Godspeed, Sonic Youth and Swans
Jackson Bailey
if people want records they will use ebay.
Michael Ramirez
based
Adam Davis
sorry OP people only buy records from urban outfitters these days
>1 more person each year buys a fucking vinyl I know you are retarded but can you literally not see the graph above that shows that vinyls are being sold in the millions and increase about two million each year?
Jace Martinez
Yeah you’re retarded alright, thanks for confirming. Stay oblivious my man. No point in you being in this thread anymore though.
Nathaniel Allen
You need Live After Death on DVD. Maiden will definitely sell.
Joseph Gray
is this rhino records
Luke Nelson
Well aside from the 2 independant shops, there's a couple media outlets & they'll have what you mentioned +metallica, iron maiden, zeppelin, sabbath, wu-tang, bob marley, kind of blue, it all looks the same & unteresting after a while, but those will always sell
Lucas Scott
dont open a store until you figure that out yourself not trying to be a dick, its serious advice. if you dont already know, youre definitely not gonna be able to adapt to/predict trends, etc.
Oliver Rogers
He doesn't need to, he just needs to browse Yea Forums and post bait threads about how shit everyones taste is.
Ian Garcia
>I'm thinking of opening a record store. Reconsider.
Wyatt Lewis
beat me to it
Ethan Cooper
Look retard. I know you want a brick and mortar place to call your "business". It isn't going to work. Renting a building is stupid expensive. Anything you sell, people can just buy online from eBay or music sites. Your best bet is to just run an online shop through eBay.
Anthony Phillips
>the record exchange gonna assume OP is a fellow Idahoan
Xavier Morgan
buyer’s market
Isaiah Butler
yeah i was thinking of doing the same thing, sort of like a record store/coffee bar type deal so my income isn't solely reliant on vinyl
Owen Williams
exactly, don't put your eggs in one basket, vinyl, weed pipes, amateur tattoo artists
Jose Gray
no one buys albums in-store except for retards who collect vinyl and think that talking with the attractive girl at the counter means they have a social life
