Never Lose That Feeling is such a fucking anthem.
Mezcal Head is even better
Swervedriver is great.
YOU CLOSE MY EYES WITHOUT BLINKIIIIIING
YOU READ MY THOUGHTS WITHOUT THINKIIIIIIING
YOU SIT AND SMILE AND I'M SINKIIIIIING
COULD BE THE CAUSE OF MY DRINKIIIIIING
YOU FABRICATE WHAT I'M FEELIIIIING
YOU RISE UP RILED AND I'M REELIIIING
I SWALLOW SALT AND YOU'RE KNEELIIIING
WE LIE AND STARE AT THE CEILIIIIIIIIIIIING
FUCK. YES.
More like this? It's fucking phenomenal driving music. Someone rec'd them to me when I asked for more like My Vitriol, I really like that kind of combination of hard rock and shoegaze when I'm out on the road.

>My Vitriol
Grounded is such a great tune.
Catherine Wheel
whats happening here disgusts me
yes
Actually have listened to Teenage Wrist's Dazed and Amusement Parks on Fire's s/t and liked them both. Haven't listened to Superheaven though, thanks for that.
Swervedriver and Catherine Wheel got lots of shit from the "troo shoegaze" crowd because they were bands you explicitly needed to have a social life and get laid to understand. It wasn't music to lie alone on a bed and cry because of having no girlfriend to.
Both were actually much better than Slowdive, Lush, Ride and other such tripe.
Hey man Going Blank Again is a pretty fun album.

Flashlight Planetarium is such a good fucking song.
What's the difference between shoegaze and dad rock again?
Dad rock isn't a genre. Shoegaze is.
That's why I don't like calling Swervedriver shoegaze, they had a lot more in common with American bands like Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, and even Husker Du than they did with the British shoegaze scene. If they weren't from Oxford they probably would've never gotten the label.
Catherine Wheel were definitely shoegaze, though. You'd have to go through some pretty crazy mental gymnastics to claim they're not "troo shoegaze"; they weren't too much different in sound from Ride, really.
buttgaze classic based
Shoegaze is a type of alternative rock, which was a response to classic rock (aka "dad rock"). They're not at all the same.

Swervedriver are great.
Great thread all, thanks for the recs lads. Recently got into Catherine Wheel, and Swervedriver is proving a great next logical step.
Be sure to listen to Catherine Wheel's Adam And Eve if you haven't already. One of the best alt rock albums ever made.
Will do user, heard some tracks but not the whole thing yet, thanks. I actually discovered Catherine Wheel about a week during a 90s alt-rock music video thread on Yea Forums. Someone posted their track with Tanya Donnelly, and as any self-respecting Breeders/Belly fan I had to check that out which led to starting the deep dive on their Catherine Wheel's discography. Once in a while there is a real gem of a 90s music video thread on TV.
Based, thank you guys. I've got a lot of listening to do.
Just listened to Mezcal Head all the way through. Wow, some major highlights and what an ending with Never Lose that Feeling+Never Learn's relaxing outro. Great thread fellas. Sometimes Yea Forums actually isn't so bad.
You wanna know something fucked up? Never Lose That Feeling/Never Learn is a bonus track. It wasn't on the original release.
Wow, that is fucking nuts. Alright time to get to Raise and then more Catherine Wheel.
i bought the original release on cd by accident after listening to the bonus track version online so many times and was amazed by this, it's one of the best album closers i've ever heard. wonder why it didn't make the original cut.
>wonder why it didn't make the original cut
Probably because it was released as a title track on an EP the year before
>Shoegaze is
Yes?
