The Eminem Show is the best hip hop album of this century and the next infinite centuries to come.
Add Relapse we good homeboy
kek
I know music opinions are subjective and shit, but how in the actual fuck can someone rank TES that low? Not only is it his best album, it's also one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Even he admits that TES was him at the top of his game.
Eminem Show had some great songs, but for me this is the real standout of his career. Not in skill necessarily, but this album was just so out there.
Also, in terms of skill, I thought Recovery was the best.
Relapse is my second favourite, after TES. The production on Relapse is fucking god-tier. Even the weakest songs sound incredible.
Recovery is one of his worst. Awful pop hooks everywhere, basically no rapper features, forced and cringy puns, unnecessarily shouty voice, too many sappy relationship and feelings songs.
mmlp sslp tes ssep relapse mmlp2
>Recovery is one of his worst.
Agreed, I only like 4 songs off that one: "Cold Wind Blows", "On Fire", "W.T.P." and "No Love".
also kamikaze was good but it was lacking in content and was one dimensional. I think Eminem is slowly getting his groove back?
Same list with me, except I'd also add Untitled. Not coincidently, basically all of these are the most un-Recovery-esque sounding songs on the album. On Fire sounds like something straight from Relapse, I love it, even though 99.9% of people fucking hate it.
Kamikaze got too much shit for sure. At least this time Eminem made an album with a clear purpose and not just to go through the motions. Someone needs to keep poking him with a sharp stick to keep him angry if it's gonna help make albums like that.
Yeah, "On Fire" sounds like he's about to burn someone alive and skip town, the beat is nice too. Wish it was on a better album.
I agree with the pop sound, but I thought his flow was on fire in that album. The way the words were paced just had a really good rhythm to it.
Show and Recovery were also both produced by Dre, along with the most of the other favorites mentioned here. I wonder if he would ever produce another album.
Recovery was not produced by Dre
I like Marshall 2 as well, although for most people that was like the stylistic demarcation point between old Eminem and new angrier Eminem. I liked that he was trying out some new things in that album.
>Euronymous is like, soooo underground! We stan!!
I hope you get stabbed by Varg, too.
Oops sorry, I meant Relapse. My point was that Recovery sounded so different from his past work because of that. Dre wouldn’t have made it so poppy, he would have made the sound heavier with more impact.
I wish they made a collection album with all of his singles and side stuff on it. Maybe I should get Re-up.
I liked mmlp2 too but it should've been a unique, one-off type of album, instead Eminem adopted its style for years which gave birth to his choppy flow. He shouldn't have worked with Rick Rubin again in revival
I agree that I liked the smoother flow instead of the new choppiness that he has sometimes. That’s probably why Venom was my favorite from Kamikaze.
