Tokai's have a reasonable reputation, they're the higher end of the cheap clone market. I've seen them cheaper than that, $400 is more reasonable for that guitar, considering you'll have to put a little cash into some upgrades - those tuners are not going to make you happy, you're gonna need Grovers or better, and probably pickups, and decent pots. But from my memory, Tokai does decent work on frets and finish.
I'm curious why you think this would sit differently in your lap, compared to another brand? A LP shaped guitar is a LP shaped guitar.

OK, but there aren't any other patterns that work everywhere on the fretboard like pentatonics without having to change something. Pentatonics are good because if you learn how to play it on one fret you can play it everywhere else. Other scales don't work like that sadly.
I have no idea what you're talking about; diatonic and pentatonic scales 'work' exactly the same way.
you can shift literally anything (any shape, pattern, chord, scale) up a fret and it will still work

I really think you're misunderstanding how scales work. The shape of the scale in any mode will be the same, starting from a root note.
PS - the word you're looking for is "transpose", when you shift the position of a scale on the neck.

I think the real argument is how much - my stance is that once you introduce distortion or any kind of signal processing, it's lost because it's subtle on an electric. Acoustic and semi-acoustic, it's a bigger issue completely. The only real difference I've ever seen is what the fingerboard is, and how soft/hard it is. The body, on a solid body guitar, I've never heard a difference, and I think personal bias makes people who want to hear a difference actually hear one.
I base this one my experience with wood - not a luthier, but I've been woodworking my whole life, as a hobby, and you can get variations in wood from the same tree, that if wood effects tone as much as some claim, every guitar would have a unique, signature tone - but a run of strats made from the same species of wood and identical hardware are going to basically the same, with such small deviations you won't be able to distinguish them.
Disagree if you want, because I'll spend my money how I want, you spend yours the way you want. It really doesn't matter either way.
Plus, "tonewood" is like "organic" - it's been taken over and used for marketing by the big guitar makers.
I think different electrics of the same model sound different, but I don't think you can hear that (relatively small) difference through gain. You can hear it sometimes on pristine cleans.

That has more to do with variances in the pick up windings and magnetic fields than any wood.
Don't discount strings, either - old vs, new, gauge, brand, alloy, etc. And what kind of pick, the quality of things like the cables, the age/condition of the caps in the circuit, etc. A lot goes into tone, I just can't see how wood makes that much difference in an electric guitar.

Why should electric guitar be any different? It's a thing held by people and played a certain way, so there is an ideal balance between ergonomics and aesthetics and the only thing you should have to change is size (for the ladies and asians) and pickups and switching (all the customization you need - it's the nature of the beast). There's definitely a point where you have everything you need in a guitar and nothing more or less.
