Just how bad of a disappointment will the new Tool album be?

Because I'm an optimist and there hasn't been a good album yet this year

desu the two new tracks they've played live have been mediocre. descending is good, but as an intro maybe, and the other one is just boring and sounds like a perfect circle b side material. after lateralus and 10,000 days, it's gonna be hard to wow people. I think they ran the full gamut of what they're capable of and that's why this one has taken so fucking long. waiting to hear the songs fully mixed before making a harsh judgment though.

Well, since they haven't put out an album in God knows how long, expectations are gonna be sky high for the new one. And it's inevitable that there's gonna be more than a few people that will be disappointed after hearing it..

It won't be a disappointment because Tool is not up for critical assessment. There should be 0 expectations and 0 interest. They're a cult favorite. They could release a turd in a paper sack and every one of their fans would buy multiple copies.

I didn't like 10,000 days

Was always a huge fan of these guys, but I’m not all that excited for it and frankly don’t expect much. I’ll buy it and listen to it and I’m sure it’ll be better than most of the shit music today, but my expectations are low. Maybe they’ll surprise everyone, who knows?

Saw them live about a month ago. Invincible was fucking good, probably top 5 for me. Descending started out good but meandered a bit too much. Feels like a two parter. Probably comboed with a song called Ascending. Anyway im hype as fuck

I don't see a downside here - I like APC, and I really like Puscifer. Grand Canyon, The Remedy, Conditions of My Parole, Dear Brother, great songs.

it's similair to lateralus in the way that half the songs are boring filler but lateralus just has better and more memorable songs, making it redundant.

Though, at least it isn't like aenima were 70% of the songs are annoying and terrible
