I think that someone who can pen solid pop songs and perform for a global audience is very mature. I can give you some reasons:

1. Fakes her background - claims in newer interviews she "grew up poor" and downplays the more privileged aspects of her upbringing (family has industry ties, homeschooled, was raised to be a singer/dancer very early in her life).

2. Gets extreme critical acclaim despite doing the bare minimum musically. She's already been compared to Kate Bush and her brother's production has already been compared to Merzbow for fuck's sake. Shillie doesn't write or produce anything and her skills as a vocalist are terrible (as one can tell from her live performances).

3. I don't think I've seen a more fake woke artist than her. Sings the hook on a Denzel Curry track about politics and police brutality then sings her own songs about teen suicide and how all her friends are dying from drugs, then does a complete ideological 180 by going back to mocking black culture and promoting consumerism. She also has a reputation for being a "strong powerful female artist" but doesn't seem to care much about feminist issues and has no issue with publicly defending a known violent abuser (XXXTentacion).

4. About the black culture thing - Shillie's whole image is rooted in white chauvinism. This white girl conveys the idea she's a "better" black woman than actual black women by misappropriating a "hood" way of dressing and speaking all while still being portrayed as "intelligent" and "worldly". It's also apparent her "I grew up poor in the hood" narrative is her trying to steal the common rapper rags-to-riches story as her own. She's desperate for validation from Black America despite remaining a basic white girl. As well, anyone can see how her music takes a ton of influence from underground Miami hip hop, deprives it of its edge, and waters it down for all her basic teenage white girl fans.

So yeah, fuck this overrated hoe.

When they were independently owned, DJs could play whatever they wanted. After they got bought out, they could only play a pre-approved playlist and new musicians who wanted radio play had to design their songs to appeal to Clear Channel's focus groups. The big sea change happening is they're putting less stock in those focus groups and more in what gets the most plays on streaming sites like Spotify. The problem with this is that the most plays does not equate to the best quality but to what appeals most to the demographic with the most time to spend on these streaming platforms. So Billie Eilish dominated the top of Spotify's charts and Clear Channel looked at that and said "Oh this is what people like now?" Except, NO, it ISNT! The demographic with the most time to spend on Spotify is preteen girls! And, NEWSFLASH, PRETEEN GIRLS DONT KNOW WHAT GOOD MUSIC IS! SO WHY ARE WE LETTING THEM DECIDE WHAT GETS PLAYED ON THE RADIO?!
