so when people say an amp comes with a usb out, and you can control it through your computer, does the amp still need to be plugged into a wall to do that or can it draw power from the pc?
Charles Martin
...It'll need power from the wall. No USB is going to draw that much power from your computer.
Logan Cox
>... are you shy? :3 thanks for the help
Nathaniel Perez
You have $600 man, get a tube amp and some decent pedals first.
Tip: it's super irritating to find out that someone plays guitar, so you invite them out to a jam session and they show up with a toy amp and toy effects box. I would rather someone show up with a Squier and a decent amp with two or three effects they really like than a $2500 custom shop guitar with a solid state fart cabinet and some dusty multi-fx.
Or, buy a used 7- or 8-string and a used tube amp.
Samuel Brown
What’s the deal with all the K-On love? I had no clue it existed until I saw some pedals that had ties to it. All I know is anime grills and guitars. Is there anything I’m missing?

No. Just plug the headphones in and turn the head on. It doesnt need to have a cab attached. This is not the case for full tube amps though just these hybrids
Josiah Lopez
Seriously though, why didn't you post pics of your roach coach dinner tonight? Out of cash until Friday again?
Robert Garcia
Orange micros and are the same kind of hybrid I think so how does it stand up against the micro and micro dark if they can all run like that?
Ian Rodriguez
wait what? you mean jcope didn't convince you to buy the same cheap garbage he owns? shocking!
Sebastian Moore
I'm having loads of problems with picked bass.
I can't get a comfortable angle. I thought if you hold the pick closer to the bridge pickup, you can play faster because the string doesn't move as much at that part of the bass. Is this a thing? And why does it feel like my wrist is at such a painful angle trying to get there?
Also, when my strumming wrist is in a position that feels natural, the pick seems to not be at a parallel angle with the strings.
Matthew Perry
I cant say how they compare but every amp in the bantamp.line copies an amp. The newest one is an engl fireball copy. My mesa boogie copy has a shitload of gain. Im personally not a fan of orange amps tone. Do your own youtube research
Levi Nguyen
Pic related is a PRS Private Stock 594 Semi-Hollow Double neck, it costs $27,580. How many of you here can afford it?
So you recommended an amp even though you have no idea why it'd be better worse than another comparable amp? Thanks for nothing, retard. You should have just kept your mouth shut.

Everything but the guitar, really. But I agree, fender and nigson aren't what they used to be because they keep trying to be what they used to be. How do you build a business on innovation and then stagnate? Nobody at fender said "but we have so many famous guys who already play telecasters, why bother?" when the strat came out.
Christopher Hughes
Won't happen, once the boomers die off we'll be stuck with neosoul licks and tapping in reviews for 40 years

>innovation It's a fucking pencil you retard. >innovations in pencil technology You hear how stupid you sound now? It only does one thing well. Most people only need a sharpened #2 and they're off to the races. Sure, there's one or two autists with a mechanical and 0.5mm lead but for the vast majority of people a regular ol' yellow pencil is all the want or need. You set a creative up with a 50s Strat & a good amp and the sky's the limit.
Pic related, if you can't get it done with one of these then you suck dick at guitar and need to quit.

you typed all this out and didn't realise you're dumb as shit
Luke James
you set a creative up with a 50s strat and he'll throw it back at you and ask you for something that doesn't hum and demand a flatter wider fingerboard "like a real guitar instead of this shitty neon-colored toy"
not to mention if you tell him he has to take the fucking neck off to adjust the truss rod, he'll probably snap it in half, say "here's your fucking truss rod" and tell you to give it back to the asshole that thought he made a good guitar
now, you could give the most autistic metalhead into headless carbon fiber reinforced 36 fret necks and broad/flat response low impedance active pickups a les paul and he'd still be happy
News flash dad: Nobody uses those anymore except for special snowflake "artists".
People used to write with paintbrushes too. Look at mister fancypants here, he has to use graphite encased in wood because he's too good to dip horse hair in ink. Lmao.

Yeah how dare anyone want a guitar that plays in tune better and doesn't need so many truss rod adjustments
talentless fucks I bet they want a "locking tremolo" too. just bend the strings back in tune with your fingers, pussies.

Justin Jones
He says in defense of a guitar with three pickups (three too many), three knobs (three too many), a whammy bar (one too many), way too many frets (you only need 19), and some newfangled straight headstock for "tuning stability" and "not breaking when dropped"
Your strings even have ball ends on them because you're too chicken to tie them yourself
Learn to play and you might not need that ridiculous electric crutch
>"Heh. Yeah, new guitar day. Tosin just did his own guitar line since Ibanez couldn't meet all the innovative requirements he requested. There's no way I could do my one man prog band with anything else."
if you want to make new music, you need a new instrument
if you want to play the same shit as everyone else play the same instrument as everyone else. it's played out, if you think you have a new idea you just haven't heard of the last guy to try it.
current frontier of music: the DAW a joke: the guitar
Well yeah, if you want to play those low notes and more varied chord voicings without contracting a whole other person to play with you, you do need more strings. Sometimes more frets.
How is this laughable? People have been doing it since the 18th century.
You only need a 50s strat, yeah, if you're only going to play some adolescent sounding noise like rock and metal.
The USA is my country too but it doesn't make the best guitars anymore except for custom shops. Same for cars. The USA doesn't compete with companies like porsche on an industrial scale. Smaller builders can outdo them, but on an industrial scale it just shits out some dated pseudo-americana like the dodge demon.
The American spirit is dead, everyone is playing it safe so even their products are politically correct.
Connor Butler
if there's anything cringier than a zoomer pretending to be old, conservative, and wise i'd love to see it

Getting it done is fine but what if you want to get it done better?
Why settle for less if you can afford it?
You're not one of those unemployed people who hides their poverty by claiming to be some enlightened post-materialism minimalist are you?
Hold on Yngwie, you suck. Learn to play a normal 50s strat instead of that weird custom shit. You're a shitty guitarist if you need a scalloped fretboard to play. Maybe give up and try the violin, this instrument clearly isn't for you. Leo got it right the first time,
I don't know where to start with this talentless hack. What's wrong with a classic strat? You suck at music if you need that much range and you suck at guitar if you need a locking tremolo. And look at those stupid pickups. Too many coils. Hum only bothers bad players who hide behind too much gain.
Did this fag even know how to play? Obviously not because he couldn't work with an off the shelf fender and "had" to make a custom one. What a retard. I can't believe he sold any records. Some people just aren't cut out for this guitar thing.
The entire studio was burnt down by some guy called kiryu-chan Legend has it he took the morning train He worked from 9 til 5 and then He took another home again

Ayden Davis
Literally just get a Katana.
Matthew Long
show me a good one for roughly 80 bucks? and dont be a fuckin punk and say "get a job" or something dumb please

You were just looking at an Envoy for $300. For $200 you get can a Katana 50W 1x12".
you can get used tube amps that sound thirty times better for that >but all the built in effects dude! don't play with effects retard
Carson Morales
or he could just get a job lol
Jacob Lee
where did this general go so wrong
Jeremiah Jackson
That's also a good option. None of the amps he has mentioned are good options.
Ryder Long
I was looking at a used envoy katana mini isn't better than a vypyr 1?
Jacob Gutierrez
Katanas are much better than low-price-point Peaveys. As another user has said, you could also get a used tube amp.
Elijah Cruz
used tube amps are still expensive imo, and they're a bit fragile you're telling me a katana mini is better than a 80 dollar peavey vypyr?
Cameron Harris
At $80, you're comparing squishy brown dogshit to hard white dogshit, but yes. Probably best to go to a shop and try everything in that price bracket (there won't be much), then buy the one you like best -- except used and online.
Elijah Scott
>Expensive Worth the money. >Fragile Take care of your shit. Yes, a tube amp will break if you leave it loose in the back of a van and start larping as initial D. It's a box of glass. Don't do that.
Christopher Long
don't be a metalhead. buy a monoprice (only used).
Line 6 Spider and a Boss Metalzone. Best I can do.

why do people talk shit about those amps

Because nobody gets them unless they only have $80 to spend.
Connor Sanders
So do the Oranges, and most of the lunchbox amps.
Kayden Allen
sigh idk why people shit talk the vypyr
Evan Thompson
You mean the cheap lunchbox amps that sound like solid state shitboxes, since they are
tube tone comes from the poweramp. tube preamps have been accurately modeled anyways.
Jaxson Gonzalez
>sigh, m'lady Because nobody gets them unless they have only $80 to spend.
Carter Peterson
cheap doesn't mean bad
Andrew Barnes
The only part of a Fender that's "bad" for metal is the pickups, which is why the dudes who play metal on Strats put humbuckers or EMGs in them. The playing part of them is fine.
Luis Walker
I said that people only buy them if they can't afford anything better, at no point did I say that they were bad BECAUSE they were cheap.
Asher Anderson
you can play metal with single coils and fender amps though? tone is all in the fingers after all
Ryder Mitchell
are they bad or not, and if they are then why
Nathan Cook
>tube tone comes from the poweramp. Yeah, at 100dbs, sure. Most people who just want a practice amp aren't going to be pushing an amp to stack volumes. It's a $150 headphone amp, it's not designed to mimic a 100 watt head. So you get the 12AX7 preamp gain distortion, which is the same tube the big boy amps use, and thousands of musicians have used to get their tone.
But if you're just being a contrarian to be a contrarian, whatever. There's no point in discussing anything with you, if you're gonna try that hard.
Tyler Richardson
I'm thinking about getting a red panda tensor... Do you think it's worth?
Austin Long
bout tree fiddy
Jonathan Peterson
You can, sure, but it won't sound as good. Stock pickups are too thin for modern metal tone. That's why a lot of the popular strat style guitars have both.
Carter King
They're pretty fucking awful. At your aggressively low price-point, I'd just get an amPlug.
Cameron Parker
>and why you're full of shit
Joseph Wilson
I don't know why they're awful, but they are. Are you really surprised by this?
Aiden Williams
>pretending to be retarded to save face
Aiden Rodriguez
I'm not the guy expecting an $80 amp to sound good, my dude.
Nathan Gutierrez
no, you're the guy that fails to explain in what way it even sounds bad in the first place
Ryder Perez
You asked why it sounded bad, not how it sounded bad.
Gavin Bailey
...
Elijah Stewart
I'm not the guy expecting an $80 amp to sound good, my dude.
Julian Ross
So do you want to know how it sounds, or are you still having a hissy fit?
I thought the distortion is okay for a cheap amp. only the blackstar and maybe roland amps are better but they don't have as many options or nobs. they dont even have a 3 band eq orange amps are cool too, but I hate how they look
Austin Foster
You suck at guitar if you use anything but a JCM800.
Kayden Ross
Yeah, it's what you expect at that price range. But for a little more, you can get gear that sounds decent, like second-hand tubes or a Katana, and Katanas have massive tweakability.
Do you need a physically loud amp (e.g., for band play), or can you get away with something like an amPlug?
I almost bought an SC20H recently.
Jaxson Foster
maybe I'll just get the katana 50. it does look more intuitive. idk what half of the nobs and shit on the peavey even do I don't need a loud amp, in fact quieter is better. amplugs seem cool, but I don't like that they're in different versions and I've heard they break really easily
both pretty true. especially my right hand, its fucking shit and depressing
>practice fairly late into the night (when finally everything around me is silent and i dont have the amp up very loud) >start feeling like im actually starting to get better for once >right hand is actually doing what i want it to do about 90% of the time instead of only "kind of" hitting the strings or accidentally sort of rubbing across them >go to bed feeling good that i made some progress >wake up the next and start practicing the exact same licks >they sound nothing like they did last night before i went to bed and my picking has returned to being clumsy and shit as usual >i fuck around trying to figure out why im playing differently now from how i was last night and i come to absolutely no conclusion. anyone ever feel like this? like no matter how much they practice that the "progress" if you would even call it that just never seems to stick?

I've never seen a single good guitarist shit on the Katana, in fact a lot of them use them instead of valve amps on certain gigs. The only people shitting on them are blues lawyers and morons on here who can't play anyways.
Ok fellow /gg/ frens i bought this here ibanez for 130 bucks, did i do good? It only has slight body dmg but all the pickups work, trust rod intact, frets as good as new?
I agree with , but I like the 2015 best despite the horrendous nut and logo. Loads of good upgrades, the tuners and pickup in particular. He said there's wear on the frets, I'd ask him for pictures of that.
Don't like the look of the DC personally, and I love DCs. The colour would be fine without a pickguard, but that pickguard really makes it look shit to me.
The Special looks pretty good.
Beware though that P90s can be very noisy, especially when your house or venue has bad wiring or dimmer switches.
punk, hard rock, country the DC comes in cherry too, not really too hung up on the color the brown one was just a little cheaper
that has the appeal of being basically brand new
Ryan Cooper
Such technique but sounds like shit, sad!
Alexander Taylor
nobody has any advice for this?
Carter Rogers
Sometimes you're better off buying secondhand, especially if you're buying from someone who is a musician themselves or just particular about gear. I've lost count of how many guitars I've traded, but I would say 90+% were set up and maintained by their owners a lot better than new guitars in my local store. In fact, the worst guitar I've owned I got brand new.
Not trying to change your mind, but it's a good indicator that the 2015 has been heavily played and upgraded. It must be a good guitar. Bit like how the best Strats were heavily played and look pretty rough, but the worst ones were maybe played once and stuck in a closet for thirty years
Nathan Robinson

>fuzz pedal >fuzz level at 0, gain at 0, EQ neutral >turning it on changes my tone
>Tubescreamer pedal >gain at 0, level at neutral, tone at neutral >turning it on changes my tone
Why? I like the sound but why?
Brody Long
Who gives a fuck, where's the melody? Also, his technique isn't really that clean, he makes a ton of mistakes when crossing strings.
Aside from that, I can only tell you what I feel is most important in my own experience playing with double bassists. And that's time and intonation, if you are strong in both those areas, taking good solos is just the cherry on top.
Aiden Diaz
and kakagoli pickups too.
David Price
Yes buy kakagoli pickups from your local world famous luthier in the favela
Austin Peterson
>The only people I see shitting on Katanas are people with loads of money and no talent who are desperately trying to make up for it with overpriced guitars and amps.
Just how do you define loads of money? Do you live in detroit by chance?
Fyi most adults can afford a $1000 guitar and $1000 amp eventually, or immediately after saving up and getting by with an $80 ebay squire and a used fender mustang II ($200 practice amp? save your money and get one for $50). Mostly because you only buy those two things once in your entire life. Someone with loads of money/bad with money buys multiples, and keeps them instead of selling the old ones. Many, many multiples. You know, you look at their rack of guitars, add it all up, and they could have bought a car or maxed out their IRA contributions for a year but instead they collected different shapes of 22 fret HH guitas or different colors of telecasters.
Gabriel Hernandez
Why wouldn't it? Setting the gain to 0 (which could mean anything, circuit-wise) doesn't suddenly bypass the circuit.
Jeremiah Jackson
People who are bad with money buy boss katanas instead of cheaper practice amps like the one you mentioned. They all sound the fucking same, the katana just costs more and gets shilled on youtube.
Logan Davis
>collected different colors of telecasters I know this one. Wait, don't tell me...
Leo Lopez
Katanas are dirt cheap, indestructable and sound great. If I were on a budget, it's what I'd buy.
John Carter
You don't know what dirt cheap means.
They cost as much as a nice steakhouse dinner for two but sound like a pack of walmart porkchops.
$120 is dirt cheap to me, it's about two hours' work. And they certainly sound better than the analog solid-state options, like Line 6s or Peaveys.
Gabriel Anderson
yeah ive bought a good amount of used gear. for a while i was prioritizing buying stuff that was heavily modded
but it is sort of a crap shoot betweem getting a maintained and personalized instrument and getting someones beginner shop project
i think im gonna go for the 2015 though, id wanna put locking tuners on anyway
Angel Perry
There's no difference in tone quality between katanas and things like fender champs and old mustangs that can usually be had for cheaper.
And beginners shouldn't play with effects. It just enables mindless riffing with bad technique that gets covered up by all the extra mud.
Leo Gomez
>$120 is dirt cheap to me, it's about two hours' work job?
Anthony Fisher
They sound a hell of a lot better to me, but each to his own. >mindless riffing etc I would tend to agree, I'm generally a straight-into-amp kind of guy.
>job? Yes.
Ian Price
what's your job?
Ethan Sullivan
beginners should buy monoprice tube amps
no effects, not enough gain for MEDUL, forces you to take care of it like an adult (fragile), costs almost nothing
Blake Torres
Dont sperg sambo
Michael Long
A katana 50 and a champ 40 are like a $20 price difference it's not a giant price gap like you're talking about. I'd agree with the effect part if they use it as a crutch to hide sloppy playing but owning a modeling amp before I upgraded helped me figure out what type of sound I was aiming for before dropping money on pedals I didn't like.
Brody Long
I have no idea what you're on about, but I can tell you the people in my city who shit on them can barely play and try and make up for that with a boutique Strat copy and whatever expensive amp brand is popular this year.
I have expensive guitars, my three best cost 3500 secondhand between them. And I had an expensive amp, it was a 60W Fender based one. The thing didn't sound any better than my Katana, was harder to use, unbelievably heavy and broke twice. Plus the kind of gigs I do are either the kind of gigs where a valve amp won't make a difference, or you don't want to be bringing your best gear. The Katana makes perfect sense.
Katanas have much more volume on tap than practice amps. You can't gig with a practice amp, or at least what I would define as one. I will admit that there isn't much tone coloration like there is with a valve amp. Depending on your style, that's either a good thing or a bad thing. For me it's a good thing.
Benjamin Hughes
lying and posting anime is not a job.
Matthew Johnson
True. You can usually tell though, that one looks to me like it was modded pretty well. I would definitely ask for pictures of the frets before you pull the trigger. I forget whether it was a Fralin or a Lollar it had, but both are good.
Jacob Kelly
Correct.
Chase Miller

I'm not stupid enough to post identifying information. But in terms of guitars I have two Japanese archtops, a Japanese semi-hollow, and a US made Tele style guitar. The amp was a Rivera. It was a piece of junk.
