If you're referring to FFTL then yeah
no, ACTUAL skrillex
Then, NO, he sucks
how come?
He made bad music and pioneered a terrible trend in music
May be the fact that I used to listen to him almost exclusively before I got into music but I agree
Wasn't that bad is an understatement. He was really good.
You don't have to like his sound, but he was and still kind of is a really talented producer.
i bet you pretty much listened to his albums only, and ignore his mixes and sets. those are what make him fun
And to add insult to injury, he had left a decent emo/post hardcore band in order to pursue his new endeavor to make everyone think every electronic song was dubstep
>DUDE WHERE'S THE DROP LOL
>STILL WAITING FOR THAT DROP XD
I used to work for Skrillex ama
How long did it take to set up his macbook?
you do realize he has done things without "le drop?"
This is a good song, and you can't convince me otherwise.

I think Skrillex made better dubstep than "real" dubstep artists.
Not long to set up but the right side usb port is dodgy, the interface would cut out often
Doesn't really matter, he did it now it's set in place.
Is he gay?
his work is still pretty damn good all these years later. I still think he doesnt hold a candle to someone like moody good or KTN
No but I don't think he's straight either. I'm sure he's experimented at some point
How much unreleased material is he sitting on
A lot desu. Sessions with Kelsey Lu, Ty Dolla Sign, Boys Noize, and some weird ambient shit he showed me. There's like a whole EP with Ty and Boys and a full length album with a bunch of features in the works.
doesnt he also have that song with moody good and knife party never released?
Possibly. I haven't gone through his shit
wait ty dolla?
No, fuckin Ty Segall.
Yeah Ty Dolla Sign. They're homies apparently, did a song with Damian Marley.
Fuck now I'm imagining a Ty Segall/Skrillex collab, lmao
neat
Why did he rejoin that band anyway? He's so far past them in a monetary sense. What is there for him to gain?
>people never do things because they want to
I know nobody asked but my personal opinion of skrillex after working for/with him is in line with what says. I was not a fan of his music by any means before getting to be around him, but afterwards I think he's incredibly capable producer and extremely talented performer/dj, but his ability to speak deeper and grasp more complex and subtle artistic topics is not all there.
That being said the man is an oddball for sure. Not just cuz he's an emo kid that went on to essentially define a genre, but because he's got a lot of arrested development from becoming a professional performer as a teen, and, well, having Scientologist parents that stick you in one of those brainwashing boarding schools at a young age.
As for the music, it's obnoxious and artistically flat but serves a purpose and honestly, was the noisiest and most aggressive form of popular dance music in the past 20 or so years. I truly believe the success of artists such as SOPHIE would not be as great if not for Skrillex and Dubstep in the early 2010s getting everyone used to hearing really abrasive DAW-made sounds in popular music. Shout out Steve Duda
If we're talking production quality and polish then absolutely Bangarang for example is extremely tight and crystal-clear. A pity Recess was shit compared to it
I liked some songs on recess
What's your favorite song by him?
I think "my name is skrillex", being his first track ever, is a good song and the fact that it starts out with pure 128kbps noise is hilarious to me. Madman literally put noise in mainstream music and got away with it.
Fun fact: the ceiling of his new studio is a carved wood pattern of that song's spectrograph.
Also his stuff under Dog Blood is good, not nearly as annoying.
mine is recess and summit
