I've worked at a music venue. Literally the only type of event attracting more female than male visitors where 90s music DJ nights. There was a sizable majority of males attending most events. I think more generally you could say more men than women have actual interests. There are plenty of exceptions to this of course, but this seems to be true for the general case.

Most men listen to mainstream music too but I guess woman have a greater tendency towards conformity
