>The Beatles deserve the title of the best band of all time, but the only albums I like from them are Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour (the UK EP version) and Abbey Road.
>The Velvet Underground are terrible and I don't know why you guys like them so much
>Shoegaze is horrible and it gives me such a horrible headache, the same goes for My Bloody Valentine
>Prince was better than Michael Jackson in every regard
>George had the best solo career and was the best Beatle
>King Crimson are not the best prog rock band, Yes are
>Fear of Music is better than Remain in Light
>Mick Jagger sings better than Paul McCartney and I find his voice more engaging
>The UK makes better music than the US
>I unironically enjoy ABBA even though I'm a straight white male

white people be like
none of these are unpopular in the slightest
The majority of rap is garbage
Green Day>Nirvana
Prince really was better than Michael Jackson în every regard
Nine Inch Nails are overrated
But who cares about your opinion? You're just saying your feelings. Do you look for people who feels the same or what? There is nothing to discuss even, "I feel like X, I feel like Y". What's the point?
what instruments did micheal play other than little boy skin flute
If a band isnt popular, it's probably because they're not that good
Every single musician mentioned in this post aside from Prince is so fucking boring and ultimately inconsequential that even having an opinion on them seems like a waste of energy.
Coldplay is genuinely good if you only listen to it occasionally
You have some serious shitty taste lad
UK>US isn't an unpopular opinion
Mick Jagger's voice is objectively awful, but works in the context of the music (ala Roger Waters)
ABBA has always slapped
Prince wasn't a pedophile
TPAB is badly mixed and mastered
>Prince was better than Michael Jackson is every regard
agreed, but MJ was still great.
This is a good rule of thumb for music, there are exceptions of course.
>post-rock sucks
>prog rock is cool, and the more cliched the better. ELP kicks ass
>glam metal is great too
>new jack swing was the best thing to come out of the late 80s/early 90s
>On Avery Island is better than ITAOTS
>most """experimental""" stuff can never be anything more than passably interesting, pop music is king
>King Crimson are not the best prog rock band, Yes are
King Crimson aren't even in the top 5 best prog bands lol, they only have like 3 good albums (ITCotCK, Red, Discipline) and a bunch of assorted good tracks on otherwise mediocre albums (LTiA1-5, Vrooom (which is just a remake of Red), 3oaPP, etc). Yes is in fact better than KC, but Genesis is better than both and Porcupine Tree is best prog band even though they're 20 years removed from the prog "golden age".
if we're doing newer bands, then king gizzard
(((Reddit))) really isn't that bad
Unpopular opinion: Supertramp was the superior band to Pink Floyd
Pentagram is disgustingly underrated. This band was ahead of its time and should be hailed as the truly first metal band instead of Black Sabbath
youtube.com
The first metal band was the Beatles, "Helter Skelter"
>The first metal song was Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown
> Led Zeppelin are a genuinely good band
>lots of distortion = metal
does metal NOT have lots of distortion?
by that logic shoegaze is metal too
bladee is on another level
Pleb filtered by shoegaze, I can't believe it user.
Try lighter shoegaze, because not all of it is oppressive, moody wall of sound. Here are some good entry points:
>going blank again - ride
>citrus - asobi seksu
>split - lush
first foo fighters album > anything by nirvana
>Turn on the bright lights is the real savior of rock in earlys 00's
>Joy as an Act of Resistance is a good album, people are being too picky about political issues and all that shit
>Early's Beatles is shit
>The Beach Boys ended up being more sophisticated than the Beatles (not necessarily better) because they were willing to trend away from the commercial to make daring albums, whereas the Beatles ultimately never lost sight of making money
>I realize on an intellectual level that everything about nu metal groups like Three Days Grace and Linkin Park is cringey but I can't stop liking them for some reason
>Green Day was the closest thing to the voice of a generation in the 2000s since they spoke to the feelings of kids coming of age in the Bush era and reflected the events of their times the same way that Bob Dylan did in the 60s
>most of my favorite songwriters are Jews
>George had the best solo career and was the best Beatle
