i can't figure out why i like listening to linkin park
in the logical part of my brain i recognize that the lyrics are mostly angsty cringe shit, the music is largely formulaic and basic underneath the big sound, and yet regardless of all of this my brain registers it as "unga bunga good sound"
so it's forever relegated to my extremely shameful pleasures playlist never to see the light of day, god forbid anyone know i listen to it unironically and have no way to explain it
If enjoyment only came from listening to the best and most technical stuff then there would only exist like 100 albums.
Angel Wood
Linkin Park is Bon Jovi or later day Def Leppard of the 00s, you cannot deny it's perfectly crafted shit that just sounds great despite having no bite or edge
Carter Collins
>tfw your dad always listened to this album when driving around so it's forever "riding around with dad nostalgia" music
he's like 50 now and still listens to nu metal
Alexander Edwards
If it's any consolation to you, Linkin Park is a band from my age....they came out in the year 2000 and were a band targeted toward kids my age, I am 30.
Your dad was just a weirdo listening to tween music, unless your dad is 30, in which case you need to get off this website because it is 18 and up only.
Carter Bailey
listening to hybrid theory is not a shame. the later works are pretty shit. could be my age.
Isaiah Price
perhaps it's their objectively good production and sound design that appeals to your ape brain perhaps you shouldn't prevent yourself from enjoying good things just to showcase the pretension you learned from your peers to said peers in an effort to fit in fucking part time sycophant
Landon Morgan
I have the same thing with pic related, but that one's even harder to justify, as it is even more formulaic. It just gives me an odd sense of comfort. I am so ashamed of this shit, I don't scrobble it, I turn off my lastfm every time I feel like listening to this, I am fully capable of scrobbing Limb Bizkit, but this? I feel like a degenerate. As for Hybrid Theory and Nu Metal in general, Nu-metal is crafted in such ways where it's just really satisfying, the choruses are always pretty damn explosive and addicting.
It's so corny how many of you faggots force yourself to hate music from your teenage years because you're embarrassed of your cringy self.
Ryder Campbell
I am more embarassed by the culture and the fanbase of the record, that is stupid too though. It's McDonald's of music. Well, I guess not, since it's not as unhealthy as McDonalds, but you know what I mean, it's cheap fun.
Isaac Cruz
No, you are embarrassing point blank. It didn't wear off from your teenage self.
Ryan Johnson
You know what, I don't want to be mean. Just listen to what the fuck sounds good.
Hudson Richardson
You're not wrong. But I like the more respectable albums/bands too. So, it evens out.
Good lord man, that's the opposite of what I was saying. This line of thinking is what's embarrassing. See
Liam Ramirez
Well, in the end it doesn't even matter.
Noah Myers
Fact of the matter is you should like what you like, if you like it, you see some value in it...figure out what the fuck that value is, and don't be ashamed of it
Nothing is more cringe than being a trendy person/someone who actively tries to fit in, you'll NEVER be cool if that's who you are, you'll always be a try hard and a poseur, because you're literally posing as something you're not as opposed to being who you really are and having confidence in who you are, fuck anyone who says otherwise
Nathaniel Lewis
This, I defended Creed's music ever since the hate started unapologetically. And it's by no means the type of music people would expect me to even listen to.
Seems like everything from that era has come to be seen as corny minus shit like Deftones and Rage. Hell, even Limp Bizkit had some great tracks.
Juan Clark
You guys are right, I don't know why I feel so embarrassed about music, it's retarded. I am just an insecure person I guess. >This, I defended Creed's music ever since the hate started unapologetically Post-Grunge gets a lot of hate, for a good reason, it is a more commercial version of what Grunge was, which already was very commercially friendly, it is very radio-friendly. But, I am listening to Three Days Grace which are on the same level. I just think the vocals are really good, and I like the guitar and drum work. I quite like Limp Bizkit, Fred Durst' vocals can be little annoying, but they have really talented guitarists on there, it's really hard to ignore the level of skill they show on some of these tracks.
Sebastian Bennett
Creed was well respected before they really blew up. People liked Stapp's voice and its similarity to Eddie Vedder and Tremonti was considered one of the best guitarists at the time. Also great live.
Chase Baker
I actually didn't know that, but I can see that, once something blows up it becomes far easier to discredit.
Nathan King
I think it was almost exclusively Scott Stapp that people didn't like and some non-music related things. Just look at Alter Bridge. Same band minus the singer, don't hear much about them anymore but they were viewed pretty positively in the early going.
Thomas Ward
And by the way, when I said "really blew up" I mean REALLY blew up. They were already pretty big before then and still liked. They then got massive and that's when the hate started.
>lyrics are mostly angsty cringe shit >hurr durr angst=bad Whenever I hear shit like this I lose all respect for whoever saying it.
Zachary Diaz
>You guys are right, I don't know why I feel so embarrassed about music, it's retarded. I am just an insecure person I guess.
It's understandable because most people want to be "cool", but few realize the true way to be cool is to be an individual...not follow others. I know this sounds like some after school special shit, but it's true. The only real way to be cool is to be yourself and be confident in yourself, not follow others or succumb to the trends others expect you to follow.
Jace Peterson
angst is not bad when presented in a tasteful manner, for example in Leopardi or certain sonnets of Camoes, but that's leagues above this CRAAAAAAWLIN shit
Jose Martinez
Yeah, same. I realize that the screaming, lyrics, and instrumentals ate cringey, but I still enjoy their first album.
Daniel Young
This
Bentley Gomez
Who cares faggot. If you enjoy the music then you enjoy the music!
Joshua Flores
I agree, but linkin park is barely nu metal, especially in comparison to korn and limp bizkit
Tyler Morris
Kek
Lincoln Gutierrez
Not all their lyrics are like Crawling's. Breaking The Habit and It's Easier To Run have unironically good lyrics.
Gabriel Richardson
Meteora was way better and every other album by them before or since was trash except maybe the Hybrid Theory ep.
I'd disagree. I'm open about my hobbies, but they don't get any cool points. I have about 5K$ in Pokemon cards and I display some of them on my desk. I used to wear anime shirts in public until one day my legitimately autistic cousin started freaking out about my shirt muttering the anime character names and my aunt had no idea what she was anxious over and she kept asking about the show while my aunt tried to get her to calm down. So now I don't wear anime shirts anymore. If anyone is curious it was madoka magica.
But I've learned that even though you don't get cool points but most people don't care as they're too focused on their lives so it's not like as an adult you'll get bullied for it
Cameron Russell
this but unironically. Just replace Limb Bizkit's/Korn's albums with their better ones.
Zachary Carter
this and eminem for my dad. I think it's for a particular subspecies of fathers who were really angsty youths and it's somewhere in there still
Jack Ortiz
Creed and Deftones were equally boring to me
Jackson Bennett
Funnily enough he would have been around the same age a lot of the nu-metal guys were (Orgy, Disturbed, Durst, Slipknot, Powerman 5000, Staind). Not that many of them were actually in their early 20s
Jack Clark
It's almost as if this entire board's culture is based around trying to intellectualise something that is inherently intuitive/emotional
Anyone who hasn't realised how retarded Yea Forums culture is by their early 20s is doomed to be a perpetual manchild
Lincoln Wright
Meh. I get all kinds of shit about my "outsider" interests, I don't care...I show people it's fine to like whatever you want, and if people act smug toward me, I act more smug.
Mason Peterson
Let's hear it for the great Mr. Hahn
Oliver Flores
Deep inside I know that, but I am so insecure and lack any feeling of self-worth that the only achievement I consider to be of worth to me is my taste in music. But I'm coming clear with it being okay for me to enjoy whatever I like.
Angel Cruz
>It's almost as if this entire board's culture is based around trying to intellectualise something that is inherently intuitive/emotional This comment single-handedly destroys all the dumb arguments we see on Yea Forums. I might not like most Linkin Park or nu-metal in general but like whatever the fuck you want
Juan Diaz
hybrid theory is likely the most perfectly crafted pop album to ever release. what said basically, its rad
Chase Bennett
user didn't phrase it correctly, the only way to be cool is to not try to be cool. it's a totally negative process
Ethan Mitchell
>Madoka shirt Based
Austin Reyes
i was always disappointed the linkin park stuck to their radio signal format. i wish they had a really out there album where the played with their sound, something like long season by fishmens
Hunter Reyes
i think that a thousand suns is supposed to be that, but ive not heard it
Ethan Garcia
Hybrid Theory and Meteora are legitimate kino albums. If you don't like that? Well, you can suck it.
Joseph Nelson
based
Landon Williams
sorry dude but genuinely enjoying this trash is the ultimate pleb filter. if you hear any linkin park song and think 'this sounds good' in any capacity youre a pleb who will never 'get' music and you should spare yourself the torment of posting here and go dwell somewhere else with the other pleb brainlets.
but also likes the patrician albums. This means I enjoy more music than you and I am more versatile than you. You are inferior to me, dumb frog poster,
Isaac Adams
there are 2 varieties of Yea Forums poster >the people that came here with good taste >the people who brought their shit taste, got shamed for it, and now have artificial good taste from blindly following along with Yea Forums memes like Crimson King and Have A Nice Life guess which camp you dwell in.
Jose Morris
The first one, you little bitch.
Jason Murphy
>>>r*ddit
Aaron Nelson
well you guessed wrong. a good site for linkin park fans
Aaron Sullivan
>well you guessed wrong. I didn't guess, I knew.
Isaiah Reyes
you know NOTHING
Logan Diaz
I, in-fact, know everything.
Aiden Jenkins
if you knew everything you'd know that 'in fact' isn't hyphenated, checkmate.
Matthew Smith
I knew that it just looks cooler to me that-way.
John Wood
The cringe is authentic and Hybrid Theory & Reanimation had good beats and shit.
Juan Ross
Chester's Bennighton's suicide unironically improved Linkin Park for me.
Brayden Cook
definitely not One More Light for me. That album is still awful despite being the last before his death.
