Emo bands

I need some more good emo bands. I like American Football, Brand New, Modern Baseball, The Brave Little Abacus, Sunny Day Real Estate, and The Get Up Kids.

i wouldn't call them emo but they're still a pretty good band. Change is one of my favourite albums.

I think their label planned to reissue their discography, which is like EIGHT or maybe even NINE songs.

The Hotelier - Home, like no place is there
TWIABP - Harmlessness

Not strictly emo but try Pinegrove.

midwest pen pals, only made one album before splitting up but its the shit

The Appleseed cast
Mineral
SDRE
Snowing
Merchant Ships
The newfound interest in Connecticut
Oh my god Elephant
Empire empire I was a lonely estate
Algernon Cadwallader

Personally I hate modern emo, it's too soft and neutered, it's like it's totally abandoned it's roots. Stuff like foxing or hotelier or twiabp just puts me to sleep

I can't tell if this is a bait post or not.

Everything you listed except for the first three (Appleseed Cast, Mineral, SDRE) all fall under modern emo and are in the same boat as Foxing, Hotelier, and TWIABP.

Not really.
Snowing and merchant ships, Algernon Cadwallader haven't been active for nearly a decade.
Empire empire are the exception admittedly, but that's largely for their lyricism

A lot of modern emo just seems very insipid and overly twinkly. Like Algernon have complex math esque guitar lines without being totally soft. There are still modern bands I like , like Dad's, but I feel like the current strain of emo is very pop-y , deals with very basic themes and doesn't really leave a mark.

Oh Indian summer are great too op

>Oh Indian summer are great too op
Yes. It just feels weird to me because bands like Algernon, Snowing, etc. are as different from Mineral, Indian Summer, etc. than the current day shit compared to Algernon et al.
I'm old enough where my shit cut off starts at the Algernon era (for sake of simplicity). It sounds like your shit cut off is starting with today's wave of emo.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that you remind me of myself ten years ago.

Yeah most of what I like is at least a decade old. It's probably just my own headcanon but I consider current day stuff to be almost a new wave considering how different it is.

I'd use the same word again, insipid. The impact both musically and emotionally of a band like Tiny Moving Parts, Mom Jeans, is really minimal and it's very poppy and radio friendly
