Esme

Baby Birch

In California
one of the greatest things ever made by humans

you are not special for liking this album user. This is the part where I break through my inarticulate, crude veneer and tell you sincerely -- you are not a instantly a bastion of creativity and high arts for feigning enjoyment for this album. If you endure an album without enjoying it, you are pathetic. If you meticulously analyse a work, you no longer enjoy the gestalt, only fragments.

fuck you

No such thing.
Have One On Me and In California tied up composition wise
Baby Birch and Go Long are tied up emotion and poetry wise

You've just posted cringe.

In California

Guys, i worry that Joanna is done making masterpieces. Divers aged really poorly if put next to the other 3

Does Not Suffice (In California)

My opinion is that Joanna's best song resides in ys (Only Skin) even though HOOM is the better album for many reasons

On a Good Day is also up there.

it's Soft As Chalk

bro you're going to loose subscriber

>poor mans Fiona Apple

Hell yes. The best of the shorter songs for sure
I'm in love with the chord progression

I've always had a soft spot for '81

kingfisher

Occident, obviously

Good intentions paving company

Anyone else think disc 3 is kinda weak compared to the other two, especially the first one?

The third is the best one... soft as chalk, esme, does not suffice, kingfisher. Isn't that enough?

If Does Not Suffice doesn't suffice you're fucked

'81 probably
But the album is flawless so idk

>implying fiona apple is anywhere near as talented

because of the amazing middle section where the melody gradually mutates, becoming more and more angular and chromatic while the song builds in intensity up until the great release with the three-chord vamp and layered vocal harmonies

based schizoposter

sides 4 and 5 are the weakest but only in comparison to the rest of the album

Jackrabbits

Divers was good but wasn't as complex compositionally or structurally as the others. It was a simple sweet album. I liked it. Goose Eggs, Divers and Sapokanikan were great songs although Sapokanikan felt a little out of place.

yeah, I feel that way too. Musically, at least. It might have my favorite lyrics of all three, though.

Can somebody edit this album cover to say "Have Sex" at the bottom instead? Please?

No one has mention the obvious, Good Intention Paving Company.

In California man I almost tear up when I hear "I CAN ALMOST FEEL THE POOOOOOOOOOOOOWER"

really liked her music and thought it was unique and fresh, then i discovered kate bush and realized that joanna newsom is just a lame ripoff. :(
