I've been to this board a few times over the years and I've always come away with the impression that everyone here listens to shitty obscure albums just for the sake of being contrarian. However, tonight I decided to give you all another chance and I listened to pic related since I always see it being shilled here, and I have to say, I was very wrong. One of the best albums I've ever listened to, I was taken away on a magical journey for a whole hour.
What are some other albums I should listen to that invoke similar feelings? I don't care about genre, I just want other albums that take you along for a ride.
This except for AnCo avoid that shitty fucking band and go with Tame Impala instead
Carson Davis
I mean, if you're new, you should listen to some of the essentials. You don't have to like all of them, and some people hate them mostly for the sake of contrarianism, but they're called essentials for a reason.
Try 'Lift your skinny fists like antennas to the heavens', 'endtroducing', 'the glow pt. 2'
Nathaniel Anderson
to clarify i’m trying to rectifying this comment >everyone here listens to shitty obscure albums just for the sake of being contrarian. these are not obscure albums

Cringe, don't listen to this faggot OP don't avoid Animal Collective

Make sure you go through the rest of Sweet Trip's discography, it's all absolute kino
Start with Loveless which is considered the magnum opus of the genre, then check out the rest of My Bloody Valentine's discography.
Afterwards you have Fishmans, Slowdive, Cocteau twins and everything else. V:D:C is one of a kind though, not a lot out there that sound like it.
Gavin Johnson
Don't include shit-tier bands like Fishmans and Slowdive with Cocteau Twins and MBV as if they were even on the same playing field
Oliver Foster

Juan Butler
check out Dots and Loops by Stereolab and Tender Buttons by Broadcast
Nicholas Reyes
I literally put MBV on the pedestal and told him to listen to them first. Stop forcing yourself to get mad.
Thomas Hughes
Good bait
Colton Rivera
Dsco is the only good track

Alright thanks bros, I think I'll start listening to one of these each day. Even if I don't like any of them I won't have really lost anything.
Alright, will do
I honestly thought shoegaze was the name of a rapper or something whenever I saw it here and I'm still not sure what it is, but if this album is that genre then I guess I like it. I'll make sure to listen to those albums soon.

Mucore would be so much better if some of the main mucore weren’t:
A dude yelling while trying to explain his desire of having sex with Anne Frank A faux avant-garde tedious album An overrated childish pop album An insufferable blues rock album
Nathan Sanders
you didn't listen to the whole album kiddo
Ian Flores
International makes me cry.
