you should work with soundcloud.com/lil_kava hes a godlike producer and has good prices

His style is a little too dark for me at the moment and I produce, mix, and master all of my own stuff but I'll send him over to some rappers I know that are into heavier shit like that!

Nice but you need some originals.
I like the instrumentals. The recordings could use some work, but its hard to complain about anything until you get a vocalist

You can make music, but frankly I feel the genre is saturated with artists who sound like the shins. You are one of them. I'd focus on doing something more unique with vox. But the songs, their structure, and recording quality are sufficient. The mix/master definitely needs work. I get that you're trying to make a big sound with only one instrument, but drowning everything in reverb is not always the answer.

A TON of potential here, but I'd reiterate what I said for the last guy about getting into that saturated folky-ish stuff. Obviously your mix needs work. Your consonants are muffled and there are a lot of parts where you sound out of key, and my sense of key is pretty bad (my music demonstrates this). If you can hone in on your vocals in a unique way, and go more country (and I mean REAL country, perhaps even a rockabilly direction) I think that you could make something unique and inspiring. My recommendation is to listen to Dwight Yoakam. Not for the voice (although his is great) but more for the style... the rock/country fusion is a perfect blend, but more country than rock... if indeed you are aiming for country like you said.

can i get some feedback on my music :)

soundcloud.com/user-8361524

i just want feedback

Being that the actual backing track and music was produced by someone else, and that vocally, you aren't really singing, this is a critique of your voice, your cadence, and your vocabulary. These three things are all you really have, and as far as I'm concerned, all any rapper really has when they are not producing their own tracks. When they are producing their own tracks, most of the artistic integrity boils down to the mix/master/production side of things. You have none of that.

The timbre of your voice is okay for the genre. You don't really stand out in this regard. Your cadence is generally just off... it almost sounds like you came up with a rap, sent it to someone, and they built the backing track around it and were unable to quantize in such a way to fit with your consonant/vowel structure due to your timing having an inconsistent tempo. Your vocabulary is very adolescent and not in a glaringly intentional way (which frankly, is the only way that kind of thing could work).

Essentially your rapping is trash, full of cliche, and boring. The value of rap is mostly in the rags to riches imagery associated with the genre... being ghetto, and surviving and redeeming your poor circumstances creatively through music. What you're doing is no different than what every soundcloud rap/trap/brap/clap/etc artist is doing, but poorly executed in all three of the most important categories that I mentioned.

Too bad that the people that have commented on your songs are not giving you truth... all too common in an environment where comments and likes are a currency. Your producers aren't being honest either due to greed (wanting your money) or to ignorance. These tracks are hardly even amateurish and I hope you didn't spend much time/money on them, and would rather you actually work on your next track and give an effort. This is effortless lazy kid shit that no respectable producer would put their name on.

I'm

fuck off faggot

hi here is the first song I've ever put on soundcloud everyone else has nice production value and sounds clean, please give me tips

soundcloud.com/user-140205437/track-1

I am a pretty simple listener so I find it much easier to critique the more conventional genres of music. Your style is difficult to peg for me, because when I get into soundtracky type stuff, the music really hinges on context and without context it is hard to know if something will work for its intended purpose or not. So I will try critiquing it from a popular music standpoint rather than a game/soundtrack standpoint, simply because we all want to reach as many people regardless.

That said, I think that you have some very creative uses of scales and dissonance. It is too abstract for my taste, but I am not a fan of music that isn't easily digested, as can be heard in my own music so I'm going to cop out and say that is simply a matter of creative differences or taste.

I've mentioned this before for different artists (particular noise/ambient) but I will mention it again. When you get into these kinds of abstract tracks (I listened to the two you posted as well as VSOE) there is always a ratio of the abstract and difficult to swallow parts vs the easy melodies and expected progressions. The difficulty of the listening experience is always determined by the balance (or rather lack-thereof) of this ratio. A song that features excessive use of dissonance, jarring rhythms and disconcerting vibes can be difficult to listen to, but all the more rewarding when you finally reach that moment of clarity and resolution, however brief it may be.

I feel that your songs, particularly the first two have elements from both sides, but they are interwoven at such a high frequency that its more like a vibration than progression of one state to the next. I think this lessens the emotional impact in much the same way of a rock artist who releases a song that is 90% crazy guitar solo. Sure it shows talent, but emotionally those insane guitar licks and pinch harmonics become boring.

I'm

Lol I was about to post a pool view song too

wait what

CONT from At the end of the day, what you have is pretty unique, and there is an aura of mystique that you pegged pretty well by describing your music as 'zelda-esque'. This is a hard thing to capture, and despite my criticisms you -did- capture it, but I feel you could make it more impactful. You've cornered that beautiful wild horse... you've lured it back to the pen... now you have to tame it, and when you do, it will be something truly special.

This just sounds like a random bleep-bloop that goes nowhere and it's really boring, I'm honestly surprised it took you almost 4 years to get to this stage. I would advise trying to switch it up a little, make the sound more exciting, try experimenting with different effects or recorded sounds, samples whatever.

Your kick tampers sound really soft in the mix, make sure you're EQing them/compressing them/Side chaining the bass
Not bad but it could be WAY more extreme, think of me....

Get it, but hmmmm, try taking things past the limits.
No soul in this. Don't fauls advertize
Don't be scared. Go 100% for the style you want

Bro, no offence bro but spotify
will destroy your career, or I
should say your attempt at
one before it even begins.
Spotify's whole gameplan is
to securely steal music from
artists and then when that
artist disappears they rebrand
the music under a new name.
Basically like what the industry
did with Lady GaGa but now it's
Spotify doing it and no one knows.
Put more effort into your posts.
Don't be so scared to show some personality
Not bad
Pretty boring!!!
Ok so basically do what I said about your drums
Boost your bass bro
You're arcade punk and I'm cyberpunk
Fake country
You think you're going to amount to something artistically but you can't even describe what you're doing? HA!! oh I'm laughin

Yet you guys have hissyfits about me?? shame...

You really need to show some personality
Make music that's faster than 250bpm
Show some personality
Finish setting up your account
SKIP
Go more extreme
Finish setting up your account
Your beats are a bit generic and
I recognize the Samples.
the sample sounds like it was
recorded to a 15ips tape machine
with a live band going straight
through a console, and the drums
are coming from a drum machine,
synth, or stock DAW drum
samples, chances are the context
won’t make sense, you should
always focus on that crispy sound
quality bro.
In my mind I’m thinking “ok, what
can I do to make these drums
sound better, like they BUMP to the
sample, but still stick out and hit
hard?” Bro... Think about it like this,
it might mean you have to be
processing to the sample, or
processing to the drums, or both.
And generally needssome
experimentation to make it BOOM
in the speaker. And also mmatching
the space is super key. This isn’t
easy, it takes a really ADVANCED
ear like mine. But if you can train
yourself to listen to the ambience in
the sample and recreate that
ambience around the drums, but
don't get confused. You follow?
Next turn up the EQ low end (bass)

Begone thou fowl toad

I like silence too bro!
>Spotify
you know what i'm about to say....,.....
Yo so basically I'm laughing at you
Put some effort into your posts for once
Good stuff Mr OoOga!
Try harder bro
Yup! This is boring!
Not bad overall, but bro heres a tip
for getting your guitars to actually
sound heavy:
Turn knobs marked "gain" or "overdrive"
all the way up. Turn other volume
knobs down to get the loudness
you want. Once you've proved
you can get heavy distortion,
dial things back to find the tone
you want. Focus on being LOUD!!
Some amps won't distort at low
volumes, mainly because that's
dumb as all hell LOL. If yours is like
this, either just play loud or give up.

thanks for the feedback and advice man! as promised, I took a listen to your track ('Destination Girl').

first, sonically speakin it's perfect. everything is well balanced.
the song itself is also really good. enjoyed the lyrics especially. did you use melodyne on the chorus?
nice job!

>did you use melodyne on the chorus?
Fuck no. I'd literally cry if I did that. omg I can't believe I just said that. Oh well lol.

>did you use melodyne on the chorus?

Not sure what melodyne is. Is that pitch correction? I did use pitch correction (newtone) but not to create the trill.

yeah that's it

Oh yeah, I use it all the time as my pitch is usually off by a few cents, and also my vibrato is all over the place. I don't use it to create trills and stuff though like t-pain or cher. Most times I just use it as a reference to see how far off I am and then re-record my vocals and try to get closer naturally. Millennial Cope Song is one where I use it heavily, and its pretty obvious. I need to re-record those vocals. Thanks for the feedback though!

oh yeah it doesn't sound bad, don't get me wrong. I only asked because I was unsure. great music anyways! would listen again

Oh yeah, it's pretty good.
