Why do Americans get Dance music so wrong?

No other nation on earth seems to get it so wrong, why is that!?
The music you make.
The clothes you wear.
Even the drugs you cant seem to name correctly.
What gives!?

PLUR revival when

UK is the only place that matters. Shit they even make good house music in the UK. US can't say that really.

Gays are fucking disgusting.
Drum n bass is the only good electronic music.

Taking drugs and going to festivals is the patrician aesthetic I hope to achieve some day

yeah DnB is the best I love hearing a one hour set with zero interesting melodies and the same D beat with virtually no rhythmic variation yeah dude that shit rules.

>Taking drugs and going to festivals is the patrician aesthetic I hope to achieve some day

A Drum & Bass night in an obscure English market town is the kino user.

DnB purists are the worst. Nobody wants to dance to that shit, dinosaur. Also nobody cares and it's actually embarassing when you creeps come to shows just to complain about the lack of DnB. Nobody is impressed.

the edm fanbase is global not only american. also usa gave us detroit techno

Na

The only times America ever "got" dance music was the early 90s when house records and UK rave stuff like the KLF and Black Box was crossing over into the mainstream, and then again in the late 90s with trance and "electronica/big beat" in the mainstream.

That was it.

Reminder that most of /bleep/ are American

What is /bleep/?

fuck off newfag
detroit techno and house tho. can't discount all america like that. overall super shit tho

White populations aren't dense enough for rave culture to be practical.

>fuck off newfag

Gatekeeping a website, youre life must be so full of meaning.
Iv been using this site on and off for 14 years, im such an old fag i dont give a fuck about your old/new-fag bullshit.
Oh and btw, iv forgotten more than you know about dance music you insignificant puss stain.
Get fucked.

What do you mean by this?

Its only really Americans that call it EDM though.
America has this way of rehashing shit then claiming it as their own.

Imagine being this upset

>stand around barely moving in your white vest and sunglasses whilst you protect "your girl" from all the identical douchebags around you whilst Dmitri Vegas plays Martin Garrix off his iPod

Sounds like hell.

UK (especially outside London) is where it's at. Good vibes, good people, good tunes.

No surprises there, it's fucking shite

how can a country who literally invented house get "dance music wrong"?

I don't believe you

40 years is a long time mate, the past has a bearing on the present but it can't be revisited

A general here on Yea Forums where autistic faux-deep electronic trash is posted. It's a nice containment thread.

There are far more great techno and house records. The DnB market is pretty watered down
How can you downplay Detroit Techno and Chicago House some of the best records and DJs have come out of those movements in the 80s. DJs like Frankie Knuckles, Juan Atkins, Ron Hardy, and Larry Levan are unmatched among others
EDM is a separate shit genre though
What is your point?

>How can you downplay Detroit Techno and Chicago House some of the best records and DJs have come out of those movements in the 80s. DJs like Frankie Knuckles, Juan Atkins, Ron Hardy, and Larry Levan are unmatched among others

I mean mainstream America. Detroit and Chicago were not noticed by most of America.

Nonce

Mainstream music has been shit for the most part since the late 80s when dance music peaked in those areas. Even places where techno is popular, like Berlin, pump out mostly uninspired derivative techno records

Ok but my point is that the UK mainstream embraced legitimate underground Chicago house music and that's the reason the entire UK rave scene was and is better.

British slang is just as bad as ghetto slang and hickspeak

I can agree that it was better in the late 80s and the early 90s even though people were too focused on Ecstacy use imo. In modern times, there are still great venues in the US, including underground clubs in NYC and clubs like smartbar in Chicago

This is the apex

>Even places where techno is popular, like Berlin, pump out mostly uninspired derivative techno records
not that user, i'm not completely sure but i'd agree with you, there's some kind of quality in detroit music that i don't find in their europeans students desu. you have someone like claude young doing "cold" techno popular in berlin clubs but in fact interesting unlike those acclaimmed european producers

There's obviously lots of great records that came out of Europe like Orbital II and Newbuild. I'm just talking about the stuff that comes out today. All the "cold" stuff is more or less the same uninspired music

shan't be having this especially when a yank made this classic

Nah we still out here in Chicago partying it up my dude. While I do admit you bongs do have it more often and it is better as a whole but we really out here tho. We got randomer coming next month to a warehouse. Really the best shit is at these warehouses because the bars/clubs are subject to too many rules

>All the "cold" stuff is more or less the same uninspired music
i agree with you but there are exceptions (from detroit) like these dj sets:

If you can link individual tracks, I'd love to check them out.

t. never actually been out

Not OP but I definitely have seen some energetic DnB events though I think the genres stagnated in the early 2000s for the most part. A Guy Called Geralds Black Secret Technology is one of my favorite electronic records

This is all that’s left now.
RIP Webster basement. I will miss you.
