I don't listen to music, so I don't care.
>t. exclusively a rap listener

but i do know a decent amount of music theory.
also, many popular musicians dont - for instance jay-z said on bill maher that he doesnt know any.
This, it's not like say Cradle of Filth knew the circle of fifths
Music theory is for plebeians that aren’t creative enough to make music organically.
I don't know what that is, and I dont care.
The only problem i face it is to describe accurately/easier what I enjoy on a record.
im a music fan not a musician
>needing formulas to make music
soulless
Imagine not knowing fifths, fourths and relative keys
Music theory doesn't prescribe formulas or make rules, it only gives names to what exists. You are using theory whether you are aware of it nor not, but by being aware of it you only increase your ability to understand, appreciate or compose music. Until you understand this, your are simply operating at a lower level
I knew enough music theory to get a gcse and an A level in music. I still know enough to be in my third year of university studying to become a music teacher.
How did you learn music theory?
OP is a Destiny fanboy
You don't need to know music theory to understand music
books, videos, schools
literally like how you learn anything else
Reading online mostly; Adam Neely and Aimee Noltee on youtube have a lot to offer, and just comparing what I've read alongside listening to music helps quite a bit
sounds like boring nerd stuff
I taught myself, binged youtubers like adam neely and youtu.be
You feel threatened. You (correctly) but unconsciously sense that music theory would have a lot to offer you and expand your appreciation of music immensely, but you're afraid. Lose your fear and take the theory pill.
where should i start?
Learn the roman numeral system and what it means, because that will teach you how chords relate to each other in a song. In the key of C, there are the following notes: C D E F G A B.

Here's a good video, if you have some specific questions I'd be happy to answer, there's a lot I still have to learn though
No, the opposite. This guy takes a prescriptive approach while I take a descriptive one. Also, he is threatened and ashamed that he never pursued his own musical inclinations. Not the case for me
my beats have sheet music and I text set my raps
Pretty good desu
>t. automatically generated sheet music
