Does vii in a major key automatically mean diminished? I know the diminished usually leads back to the I but does vii always refer to that instead of just minor? because there is a seperate symbol for diminished

No, because a vii vii vii ii is all minor chords, so to make an equivalent in a minor key, the chords still have to be all minor, so it would be i i i iii because it has to be b minor and d minor, not b minor and d major
