i-is this the comfy synth thread?
fuuuuuuuuuuuck i love yazoo.
cant believe how good the repro one sounds, can the real deal sound even better?
I'm not sure about this song but I think he used the Arp 2600 heavily.
>no invitation to bag on trannys
it's like you don't understand why the last thread took off. i'm out
>no invitation to bag on trannys
i opened with lady fucking gaga the queen of tranners, what more innuendo you need. maybe you should bag urself, my man ;)
>didn't even put a synth in the op
stupid fuck delete this shit and get a clue
you sure got filtered by my avantgarde kino synth thread.
Arp 2600 was used yeah but a good bit of it was the Pro One.
lmao enjoy the hot trip to the archive. sage
Behringer has a full analog clone on the way. They even went so far as to clone the chips of the original.

Uli is doing gods work on earth.
Impressive stuff. One of these days I'm just going to break down and get a Model D a Neutron and a Crave.
Oh... oops. I assumed the video was one of their first album songs.
Maybe Pro One was on that track but he started to get into digital synths/samplers by that point. The Fairlight CMI's flute sample can be heard on that track quite a bit.
behringer will flood the market with ultracheap synths, itll be again like when there was always a home organ, now there will be a home synth at the coffee table, nonchalantly.
Good. They've been waaaay overcharging for synths.
What I love is Vince Clarke/Erasure's return to full analog in the early 90's
youtube.com
Now THIS is a lot of Arp 2600.
My guess for the main synths on the chorus album (based on sample packs he released around that time):
Arp 2600
Polyfusion Modular
LOTS of Roland System 100M
Roland System 700 (he says it's fatter sounding than the 100M)
Synton Syrinx
Pro One (he said he's never not used it on an album)
Moog Modular
Vince is actually reportedly not a big fan of the Moog modulars even though he owned a lot of them. In a recent video (youtube.com
>he mentioned getting rid of his final Moog modular because he never felt they had a unique enough sound.
based vince not buying the hypetrain. well he even used the casio cz, always went for the oddball shit.
now, having the very cz101 with me AND the hz600, i have to say i favor a lot more the hz, the wavetable+vcf is simply too creamy but futuristic sounding at the same time, cz is too stiff to my ears.
Yeah you hear a lot of CZ in some of his Erasure stuff and for me he defined its use in synthpop.
I'm kinda hoping we get crazy analog electronic music from 3rd world countries.
All Uli needs to do is release some autistic CV/Gate sequencer like a Roland MC-4 on steroids and we're going to get crazy 3rd world Aphex Twins and Vince Clarkes.
Yes, and all of the creators will he out of business due to the cheap Chinese knockoff company. Soon we will have one true same-y synth overlord! Can’t wait!

That's what makes a comfy thread just so you know. 300 posts and 200 posters sounds like noise.
Hide the thread if it's clogging up your poor catalog.
hes cloning 50yo schematics lmao. things that have been cloned to fuck hundreds of times, expensively, the novelty here is that you get a 400 euro arp odyssey with actual playable keybed and a robust power card that doesnt shit the bed while sleeping like the korg does.
good developers will be fine.
Are you one of the trannies who's out of a job if the Moog factory closes down?
also you dont seem to know that 100% of components used nowadays in electronics are all from china. all PCBs are made in china too. news flash, literally everythings made in china, faggot.
hes the soimaster from korg kek
pic to refresh everyone's minds
lol imagine being the poorfag that falls for buying this cheap “discreet” shit
>t. spent thousands to sound just like the kid with clones and volcas
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOO OWNED
hard pass, I had a deepmind and sold it within a year
It's not discreet, they cloned the IC's as actual chips
U-He Repro-1 (A clone written in C++)
>THIS IS AMAZING, IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE THE REAL THING. ANALOG SYNTHS ARE DEAD.
Behringer Pro 1 (An actual analog clone with actual recreations of the chips and careful recreation of the original circuit)
>THIS SUCKS. IT SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE IT. I DECIDED AHEAD OF TIME THAT IT'S LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR BEHRINGER TO GET THIS RIGHT.
I'm glad I saw this post before I wasted my time. I'm not particularly interested in wasting my time getting into it with an NPC jabbering to himself. Right now it's six posters, I'm #7 and this'll be my only post here.
4 ips are mine tho
You ARE no contribution at all, pal ;)

The Lady Gaga pic was a mistake and set a bad tone for the thread
I missed it, what did they get banned for?
probably something about the blatant behringer shilling
Why would he get banned for that?
because this is a shitty shill thread so complaining about shilling is off topic
You wish it was for the Behringer shilling.
He didn't get banned, he just deleted his posts like a pussy.
Behringer shilling is still on the menu.
Wtf thats gorgeous. Imagine being rol*nd and fucking up your own product reissue.
what’s the best synth that doesn’t have a vst version
can't wait for that super rigid sequencer timing, gotta hand it to buttringer, they sure know how to drop the ball
>the jitter is what made the 808 magical
Synton Syrinx, IMO
just want a juno
no
>these things still aren't out
Do you hook your synths up straight into speakers with flat EQ or into guitar amps to color them?
Want to make dreamy/ambient/shoegazy kind of music. I know a lot of this comes down to reverb chorus and delay but what’s a good synth to look into? I really like the sounds from the Waldorf Blofeld but I heard it’s buggy and shitty to program. I’d actually like to check out some free VSTs first to get my feet wet. I know the Juno’s have a lot of great pad sounds and the DX7 can put out some good pads too.
The blofeld isn't a sweetspot synth and there's a lot you can mess up there even if you aren't knew to programming synthesizers. Soundwise it's a bit cold like 90s and 2000s ambient and glitch. Don't expect anything too warm or lush from it. The built in effects aren't very useable, so you'd definitely want external effects. The only real bugs/problems that remain are encoder issues on some units and the lfo not syncing to midi clock.
Thanks good info, sounds like it’s not what I’m after. Definitely looking into more warm/lush sounds which probably means more vintage analogue.
You'll go broke looking for classic analog polys. Oberheim and the prophet 5 are the name of the game here. The DX7 was used all over 80s new age and does indeed do great pads. The other alternative would be virtual analogs. Good amount of voices and more interesting waveforms. Rolling the tone off a bit, slurring the attack and release and adding some pitchdrift before shoving the whole thing into reverb + delay will do wonders on any subtractive style synth from volca to an oberheim 6. If it has to be an analog poly, the deepmind 12 is unbeatable in terms of voicecount for the price and the effect section makes buying pedals irrelevant unless you want to twiddle them in real time. If you are interested in a more structured approach to ambient, the electribe 2 could interest you. 16 layers with sequencing and the great sound and effects engine from the kingkorg. Utilizing it in this way is a bit unorthodox but due to it being a groovebox, you can export your project to midi or record your sessions to file. If you have a bigger budget I would definitely buy either a nord lead a1 or a novation peak.

Yeah oberheim is my dream synth, unfortunately even the DSI is too much for me atm. I’ve been watching demos of the Strymon Bigsky and love the sound of it so I know that will be in my chain for sure. This was the video that turned me into it youtu.be
The deepmind looks really good. I’d really prefer to use hardware with controls since I’m still learning and prefer the tactile aspect of knobs. Probably means FM is a bad idea but I still love the sounds from the DX7 and thought about a Reface DX since they’re so cheap now. I’m leaning more towards organic ambient so I think the electribe route may not be my jam. That novation peak demo i really liked, going to look into that more. I guess ultimately I’m conflicted because I think ideally for what I want it’s too expensive to do w/real hardware but I’d prefer not to use VSTs
aaa
all speakers have a particular curve, so every instrument put there needs to be tailor shaped frequentially because itd be hard to be so lucky all your instruments match all your speakers.
holy shit these are impressive levels of retardation
>super rigid sequencer timing
>god i love my lazy drum computer!
can anyone discern the synth production involved here:
